- spent a brief time of his childhood in an orphanage
- after a fire broke out, he ran to the woods and stumbles upon svend
- he learns the man is a former knight turned thief after treachery in his ranks 
- was taken in and trained to master the arts of hunting and archery
- earns the moniker of ‘nightfall’ for his heroic deed of fending off wild boars for a lord's carriage amidst darkness
- continues on to do good, not realizing he is raking in enemies along the way
- one midnight, a mob of criminals ambushes his shack and though he successively defends against multitudes, he suffers a loss— svend
- few years pass, he meets the lord again but this time, as a thief, not a savior; so in exchange for sparing his life, he is offered a job and promise of any favor
- enters the town for the first time again after almost two decades
- excels in his job as 'nightfall' and eventually procures a lore in courtesy of his feats
- from thereon, he has been a magnet of contracts and challenges
