. Not all life stories are happy and pleasing. Some are as dark as nightmares. Some are filled with horrors, deaths and disasters. Some are darker than anyone's imaginings. His story starts before there was technology. Before there were established armies and weaponry. Before there was a way of recording information by simply putting ink to paper. It was a quiet town in the recesses of ancient China that was home to Wu Yifan before he became the Dracula.

. In this village, he had been blessed with a gentle mother, an overbearing father and two siblings with whom he shared much of his mortal life. The first twenty years of his life were spent working hard labour on the family property, turning his already tall and slender physique lean with strong muscle and tanned skin. He was often the centre of gossip for females in town, but he never bothered courting any.

. Perhaps it was that lack of socializing that had damned him. When everyone else had been away attending the wedding party for one of the young girls, Yifan had remained behind, tending to the house and his youngest sister who was barely a year old. Her body had been the only one found when the family returned later that night, ice cold and drained of blood. Yifan's body was never found, nor did he ever return to his family's home or the town.

. It wasn't until a month later when he resurfaced. The first four weeks of his life away from home had been a blur, nothing more than excruciating pain as his body went through changes. There had never been anyone to tell him who he was. If he were to think about it later in life, Yifan would have simply said it had been a mutation, something that had occurred when he'd injured himself and contaminated his blood with one of his mother's ointments.

. Truthfully, there had been a genetic anomaly in his blood, but it had taken being bitten by a strange creature to transform him into the creature he now was. His baby sister was only the first of his victims. For years Yifan learnt of himself, of what he was and what he could do, and as time went on, as the world grew and armies came and went, conquering lands near and far, he soon learnt that as one of the oldest, his powers were far superior to others of his kind that he came across.

. Time and again he'd meet someone new, someone who was arrogant and full of power, but no one could ever seem to best him when it came to strength. Perhaps that was why he grew arrogant, secure in his own skills. Even as he grew older, aging in maturity and strength but keeping his eternal youth and beauty, he kept himself distant from others. Only when he was over a thousand and getting far too lonely with the world did he take a wife.

. A few hundred years later, he took another wife, and then finally a third. With three wives to fill his time, and children to continue his line should he ever be so unfortunate as to lose his life to someone else...he found it easier to build up his empire. Even when the world began to collapse around humanity, even as modernized cities and technology gave way to a winter that forced much of the population of mortals to flee to the stars, he remained, keeping his home in the main city and keeping his place secured as the leader of what remained on Earth.

**i'm a first year education university student and my classes are monday, wednesday and thursday, with one tutorial tuesday mornings

**i'm twenty years old, and i've been roleplaying for close to nine years
**when it comes to roleplaying, i enjoy the drama that comes from making dark characters, but i'm always happy to talk in ooc -- remember, ic and ooc are two very different things
