                                                               Dream - Kim Shinyeong
" I prefer sleeping over staying awake. I never really liked keeping my eyes open, because it made me see the reality of what I was living in. My life wasn't a fairy tale, it was a nightmare. The only way I could escape it was by dreaming; dreaming of a life that I would never wake up to. Feeling wanted, being loved, it was all just an illusion, a dream."

My life is a lie. It's only an illusion. Dreams are where I really live. I am happy there.
>> Life was not easy for poor Shinyeong. Born with the name Kim Shinyeong, she resembled her mother
in almost every single aspect. She loved to sing, she was very cheerful, and her eyes always seemed to
light up at the mention of something sweet. A loving child indeed, but all of those traits belonged to her
mother, as well. It was sickening to Shinyeong, for she hated that woman. She left her two children to
fend for themselves in the cruel world that they lived in, and Shinyeong was just 4 years old. Their
father was no help either, for he ran away when her older brother was born. Now, all the two children
had were each other, no one else.

>> At first, Shinyeong loathed the life that she lived in. Due to being found on the streets, the two siblings
Daehyun and Shinyeong were forced to move into a foster home. Every single day was a struggle to find
food. Although, they lived in a foster home, the other children were greedy and kept everything for
themselves. As time went on, Shinyeong stopped wanting to eat. She just didn't have much of an appetite
anymore. Gradually, she lost her happy expressions and aura. She looked like a child with a lost mind.
The world only reflected in her dark orbs. At this time, the happiest she's ever looked was when she was
asleep, dreaming of a world where she was loved.

>> A couple years later, when Shinyeong was 10, their foster home at that time closed down. After that,
the two siblings were continuously moving from place to place, for all of the orphanages in the kingdom
were overflowing with orphans. But, they were all the same. None of these temporary homes had enough
food for all of the children, everyone was growing restless and hungry, and nothing seemed to make the
young girl smile. Her facial expression remained the same; spaced out and distant. Not only that, but
Shinyeong was losing her eyesight. Her world was literally turning black and white. She was color blind.

>> In two years, Shinyeong was finally able to see a doctor. Many people from the kingdom have been
getting sick in the last two years, so it was hard to visit a doctor. And since her social status was so low,
Shinyeong's chances of seeing a doctor were virtually impossible. Though, this time, she was lucky.
A new doctor had just opened up right beside her current home, so she quickly reserved a time slot for a
visit. After the day of her diagnosis, the doctor said that the cause of her sudden color blindness was due
to depression and malnutrition, which was very odd to the doctor. But still, there was a cure. Since

her color blindness was caused by her mental state, she had to regain her former self. Though it was a
hard task indeed, Shinyeong
was still able to regain her eye sight, and live her life normally. It's true
that she had regained the past self that she had locked away, but her face still remained blank.

>> When Daehyun turned 18, he packed up all of his and Shinyeong's things and escaped the horrible
life-style that they were living. He managed to get a job as a street merchant, and he was able to buy a tiny
house with the money he earned in the first 3 months of getting their freedom. They could start to live a
normal life once more, though it was still a hard life to live. Although Shinyeong was more than thankful
to Daehyun for giving her a better life, she didn't want to use his earnings selfishly, so she started to work
part time at any job she could find. She worked as a maid for the wealthy, a helper in a baker, a tavern lady,
anything. But she had to fake her age for some jobs, for she was only 15 and couldn't work in some areas.

>> A couple years have passed and Shinyeong was already 17 years old. She was able to work a little more,
so she started to help pay for more things other than the food that she helped bring to the table. Daehyun
was 20, and his business was steadily moving up the ranks. Their life now compared to their old one changed
so much in the years of their sweet freedom, and both were very greatful to be able to start a new life. Also,
Shinyeong started to show signs of becoming more and more expressive each and every day. She could smile,
laugh, speak with such an excited voice, and much more. It was like a robot becoming a human with each
passing day. Shinyeong was getting better.

>>Not only that, but this year was the year that the kingdom of Moonlit finally won the war with the kingdom of

Lumilia. It was a time of rejoice and happiness. Everyone danced, sang, and partied. The kingdom was happy,
and the best part is that the sudden sickness that was spreading around during the time of Shinyeong's color

blindness was completely gone. After about three weeks of partying, King Moonlit sent out an invitation to all
of the young citizens of the kingdom of Moonlit to attend a celebratory ball in honor of winning the three-year
-long war with Lumilia. The two siblings were excited to attend, but at the same time, they were suspicious.
What was the king planning? they thought. But their question would only be answered at the masquerade ball.
