Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by problems with thought processes and by poor emotional responses. Common symptoms are delusions including paranoia and auditory hallucinations, disorganized thinking reflected in speech, and a lack of emotional intelligence. It is accompanied by significant social or vocational dysfunction.

Having grown up in a poor, yet loving family, Park Sanghyun enjoyed the first years of his life. He has never been the outgoing type of guy, his only playmate being a teddy bear he would carry around wherever he went. His parents weren’t concerned about his lack of friends, about him talking to the bear and the bear only. He was a child, after all. That changed drastically when he came to school. He would tell his parents about Monsters that were lingering in the corners of the school, telling him to do things he didn’t want to. They went from one doctor to another, until they finally got the diagnosis: Schizophrenia.

When his mother realized what had happened to her son, she blamed herself. She wasn’t able to get him the medicine he needed, after all. And so she was more than relieved to hear that a place for people like Sanghyun was built. She packed his stuff and sent him away. Like this, Sanghyun is the only known person that came more or less voluntarily. He now had the medicine he needs, but it’s too late to stop the Schizophrenia. He’s messed up, unpredictable and emotionally disabled.
