She was found at the age of 5, by a poor fisherman when she almost drowned in the river. When she regain consious, she has no memory whatsoever of who is she and where she comes from. The only thing she had with her is a dragon carved dagger. The poor fisherman sold her to a Gisaeng house for the money, since he had no obligations to keep her anyway. When she first arrived at the Gisaeng house, the head Giseang was shocked to see that her eyes are of different color, all the servants and gisaengs told her not to accept her into the gisaeng house, thinking that she could be come demon in disguise. However, being a farsighted woman, she knew that she could be her prized possesion if tamed well, and accepted her in. She was silent most of the time, only opening when she felt the need to. Still, Sumin was far from what the head gisaeng expected her to be, she was a truly difficult kid. She's either very dumb, or a pure genius. At times she listens well and follow through the lessons, but at times, she just disappear without a trace. The strange thing is that, even when she's not found, she always return to the gisaeng house. In the begining, they will punish her by wrapping her in straw mats and hitting her, but she never once shed a tear or show any form of expression when that happens. The next few days she will once again disappear, and reappear. So they proceed to starving her and humilating her by stripping her, tying her outside the gisaeng house (gu family book inspired here,hahaha). Still, she showed no expression, no remorse, no shame, even after she fainted from starvation. After many tries to get her tamed, but to no avail, they gave up, knowing that she'll still come back after. However, a gisaeng house is not without discipline, everytime she returns they'll tie her up hanging on a tree for two days straight in the compound of the gisaeng house, to show the other gisaengs not to follow her footstep. Still she continues... ...for the fact that she only get to learn kenjutsu from this old man up the hill. Not only that, but also because of the boy. She wasn't sure how she stumbled upon the cave to find the both of them, but she just did. At first the boy tried to chase her away, but was stopped by the smiling old man. She only sat and watch on her first few trips there, but starts to pick up a nearby stick and followed the routine the next few times she went. The two are the only people whom she actually talked to, and actually form a relationship with. She felt like she belonged with them, she felt safe, and loved.. Years went past, and her punishment stopped when she was 7, as they all felt that it was meaningless. When she was 10, without her knowing, the head gisaeng sent men to follow her when she ran away from the gisaeng house again. She thought it'll be just another night where she gets to spend time and trained with the old man and his grandson, until 20 men came in to ambushed them. Startled by the sudden assult, the trio tried their best to fight them away. But what are the odds that a 80 year old man and the two children have against 20 well built men? For the first time in her life, Sumin cried when she saw how the old man sacrificed himself in order to save the boy and aid his escape. She saw how the toughest boy she met in her life screamed and shed tears when his grandfather let out his last breath. She felt that it was her fault, it was her that caused the old man's death. She felt that she was the murderer, and that the boy will never forgive her. But she was wrong. When she was brought back to the gisaeng house, she refused to eat or drink and just sat in her room staring into space. This goes on until one day, she heard a tap on her room's window and found the 13 year old boy standing there, with tired looking eyes. Telling her that it's not her fault, and the two of them sworn to protect each other, and seek revenge one day. To whom do they seek revenge from? They don't really know, all they know is that, if they are no ally, blood should be shed. She started eating again, and taking up her lesson properly, she still disappears from time to time, but this time she tried to be discrete. She pretends to be slighty mentally impaired, laughing alot and being all playful and crazy. To a point that, when she's of age, the Yangban wouldn't even want to sleep with her, as she'll act truly crazy and it scares them off, especially with her two colored eyes. She was still fun enough to entertain the guest by dancing and pretending to be dumb when they ask her questions, and of course, since she's an exotic beauty.
