SangChul grew up in In the United States. He lived in the city of Boston. Both of his parents are Korean. They wanted their son to grow up strong so they enrolled him in many sports. When he got into middle school he enrolled in dance and cheerleading. He was also in his middle school and high school choir. When he was 15 he auditioned for AZ. He flew there to train not long after.
