there's a small town named yeongwon perched on the edge of the ocean and nothing ever seems to happen there. as if encapsulated in a bubble of its own, the entire place is far distant from the dazzling lights and frantic tempo of big cities. words travel in the speed of light and all the townsfolk know each other—as most have grown together, have run through the streets and alleys veining the town until they know them like the back of their sunkissed hands. 

there are no towering skyscrapers, in their place is a proud lighthouse–red paint chipped and worn by time, yet its ever-reaching light will always be the one to guide ships into a safe harbour. no branded stores, perpetually flashing neon signs, all the things that sparkle and shine and glint brilliantly under artificial lighting; yet this town has taught its people to find happiness in the little things and sometimes, that's more than enough.

this is a mundane journey about a seaside town and its inhabitants –the highs and lows of their lives and how, in spite of it all, they learned to find beauty in the ordinary. would you come along for the ride?

wabi-sabi is an au, which means your characters are no longer idols and will be subjected to a fictional setting with an allowance for personality and story tweaks. 

wabi-sabi caters to characters of all orientations, although a dating ban of 2 weeks is in place. in short, no move-in couples. plotted connections or relationships are otherwise allowed as long as they observe the ban. 

rated and/or triggering plots should be consensual and done either in m-labeled rooms, walls, or pm. please include content warnings where necessary. 

rated chat messages stay in their rightful room. please use the safe word coral to express discomfort about a topic in all chatrooms. members are expected to switch topics by then.

please do not kick off any conversation about other roleplays within wabi-sabi. 

please keep in mind that a mun's ic and ooc behavior are not similar. all ic drama should be executed with consent from all parties involved.

wabi-sabi is a hatchet-burying zone. muns who have issues with one another are expected to not bring them into the roleplay. ooc drama will not be tolerated. please sort these issues amongst yourselves.

muns are expected to observe the general rules of roleplaying at all times. no godmodding, fourth-walling, user/face/shipchasing, bubble roleplaying, and metagaming among others. 

the admins of wabi-sabi reserve the right to remove delinquent members who have received multiple reports about their behavior. a warning will be issued upon any violation of the rules. members who have received three warnings will be removed and consequently banned from the rp. 

second accounts are not allowed. you will be blacklisted if you're caught, and your characters will be deleted. you will only get a warning twenty-four (24) hours before. there will be no negotiations regarding this.

three weeks of no activity consider a character inactive. you are given 24 hours to post a diary  + 2 more within the week entry. failure to do so will get your character deactivated. apart from being active in rooms, muns are required to post in the diary room 3 times within 3 weeks  to be considered active. failure to do so will result in a warning.

muns must have a profile picture up and reply to the welcome message within 48 hours of joining wabi sabi. what is the safe word? failure to do so will result in a warning.

apart from being active in rooms, muns are required to post in the diary room once a week to be considered active.

a semi-hiatus will last for a month, but this does not excuse you from the 3 weeks, 3 diary entries requirement.  a hiatus lasts for 3 weeks. you are not required to participate in the weekly checks, but you must post a diary entry by the time you come back (24 hours after the hiatus period) and share this with the staff team to avoid being kicked out.

kicked out muns may re-apply provided that they will abide by the activity rules and not be inactive max (3) times. doing so will get you blacklisted.

favorite and upvote to reserve a character. please comment [full name], [occupation] is ready to ride the waves! to reserve. reservations last for 48 hours and you may extend them by one day after notifying the admins about it.

only asian face claims are allowed for now. they should at least be 20 years of age internationally with no pre-existing, ongoing, or concluded issue tied to their name. 

we will not be accepting face claims who are married, deceased, or do not wish to be roleplayed. face claims should be represented by an official agency. adult content creators are not accepted.

first two characters are free right off the bat. a third requires a blog post and 50 points on each character. when applying for the third character, please add the blog post link.

no mun can have characters from the same group.  

muns are encouraged to choose a role for their character that they will fulfill in the seaside town. taken roles are listed in the town roles room under the community tab. please make sure to check before deciding on your role. please refrain for having too similiar roles. 

upon joining the rp, muns are given two weeks to put up their character's profile. it doesn't need to be elaborate. something that provides basic information/background about their character will suffice. this is to allow others more ease in plotting together.  

muns are allowed to tweak their characters age by +/- 3 years.
