@α☪oh sehun *sighs softly as I walk through the bookstore*
*stops every once in a while to look at some books not realizing my backpack has been opened as I forgot to zip it up at the end of my last class*
*blinking softly I pick up a medical care essentials book and smile to myself, walking to the front desk to pay*
*a book falls out of my backpack however I don't notice and I pay quickly for the book I had chosen*
@β☣song mino Taehyun only half listens to Mino, only breaking out of his own thoughts when the beta helped him cross the street. He wondered if he would still care for him as much if he knew the whole truth, he hoped he would.
As they walked, Taehyun took a few deep breaths to calm his nerves and his mind. He would worry about this later, maybe when he and Mino had become better friends. After all, he wasn't planning to spill his entire life story to the beta who had only just re-entered his life. It would be too much stress for the both of them and Taehyun planned to keep it to himself for as long as he could without damaging their relationship.
"Hey Mino.."The omega begins as he shoves his cold hands into the pocket of his hoodie,"Is it okay if I ask you why you decided to go down a career path that isn't only difficult to master, but is most likely filled with a lot of heart break as well?" Taehyun knew the job that Mino had wasn't an easy one by any means, and although it could be rewarding at times Taehyun felt as if there was more to that story. To be able to be successful in a field like Mino's there also has to be passion. Where did that passion come from?
@Ω☣nam taehyun Mino nodded, surprised that Taehyun didn't fight around to be alone. He had the fair impression that staying with him would do him good even if it was to only listen.
"We can walk to the park and it should be refreshing. I've gotten what was on my chest off earlier and it seems you have some heavy thoughts weighting you down. No matter how little it may regard me, I'd rather stay with you Taehyun."
He gently pressed his hand behind the other's shoulders to cross the street before hiding them back in his pockets, his scarf hiding his lips from the freshness falling.
"Tell me if you are cold though." He said, looking worriedly at Taehyun.
@β☣song mino Taehyun felt torn, on one hand he knew Mino would be nice company to have and would listen to him ramble if the omega wished but in the other hand he was part of the reason he was feeling so confused. How would Mino feel if he knew everything that had happened to him after he had left, after everyone had left and there was no one to protect him anymore?
He pushed these uncomfortable thoughts away and smiled softly at the beta,"Sure. Would you like to go to the park with me? I think it's a little too late for the woods now but I just.. need some fresh air."The omega had become accustomed to spending time alone but the company was happily welcomed. Had it been anyone else and Taehyun would have politely turned them down, but this was Mino.
@Ω☣nam taehyun He felt a little odd as he knew he was missing out on a lot of Taehyun's life but he was cautious enough to not ask for details so soon. He supposed Taehyun would open up about it the moment he'd feel comfortable to.
Mino was surprised to see Taehyun reluctant to go back to the school though it was the end of the afternoon. He inhaled and smiled at the younger.
"I can' take you some place else if you you'd like. Everything I do is because I want you know?" The beta smiled and took their empy cups to throw them to the closest trashbin. He wouldn't impose himself but he was a little unwilling to let the younger go on his own, this late.
@β☣song mino As soon as everything left Taehyun's mouth he slightly regretted saying what he had. A part of him felt as if he needed to get that off his chest, that Mino deserved to know so he would place the Velma on himself,but another part of him wished he had kept it to himself since he feared the only thing he would receive would be pity. Mino didn't need to know the whole story, and Taehyun knew that if he had told him the whole story pity wouldn't have been the only thing he would have received from the Beta.
The omega smiles back with a nod,"Yeah, I'm sure. I'm not really worried about that anymore. Thank you Mino.. I really appreciate the care you're giving me." He didn't comment on the last part of what Mino had said, choosing to but his tongue and keep his thoughts to himself instead so he would ruin what they were slowly rebuilding.
"It's fine. You don't have to do that for me, besides I don't really want to go back right now.."Taehyun sighs, but stands up none the less, wondering if he would be able to get away with skipping a night at the dorms to be able to go out somewhere and clear his mind from the unpleasant memories that had resurfaced.
@☄cha eunwoo 'Eunwoo' was the name of his savior. The name he'd never forget and will always speak of with reverence. Minseok let him wipe his face off, reminding him of his mother doing the same every time he had food on his face or he was crying or it was dirty when he'd go to the park and play. The gesture was comforting in his time of need. "O-okay." Nodding, Minseok grabbed his arm in a vice grip with one hand and grabbed his hand with the other. He let him him across the street, flinching every time a car rolled up a little too close for his comfort. The walk felt long and he felt his life was in danger the longer they were away from the sidewalk. He couldn't get to it soon enough before he calmed down enough not to go into a panic attack.
@kim minseok Eunwoo was just shocked at the moment, he was too surprised to do anything. Sure he expected the male to get scared, but he didn't expect getting such a reaction from him. He didn't expect him to actually cry his heart out on him that way. He swore that the boy was crying so hard at the moment, he could feel his shirt getting drenched by those tears. When the latter finally looked up, he noticed the snot, and he just shook his head, before he wiped it off with his sleeve, even though if it was another situation he would have ignored it; "Eunwoo" he gave his name "How about we cross the road first, then find you somewhere to sit in, before another crazy driver tries to run us over" he suggested when he noticed that the green light may be turning red soon.
@☄cha eunwoo Minseok couldn't stop his tears from falling down his face crying into the boy's shirt. He wanted his mommy, but she was too far away. On the other side of the country almost, and if he called her she wouldn't be here right away so he'll settle for the next best available person: his savior. Sniffing, he looked up at him, face wet and red, a little snot running down his nose. He owes this man everything now. Minseok knew when and how to be grateful to anyone that does something for him. There isn't a way he can come up with to thank him for everything. "Wh-what's y-your name?"
@kim minseok Eunwoo was going to yell at the boy, give him a good earful about how dangerous it was, maybe even curse on him a little bit for being careless, but as soon as he noticed the state the boy was in, he backed away from doing all of those things, seeing that it would only make things worst, and it may be best if he just let it slide with some nice words this time. Slightly patting the boy's back when he bend over, he looked really scared, but he wouldn't even blame after all, he almost got hit by a speeding car which will most likely end up with dangerous injuries, that's if he didn't die. Blinking at the sudden tight hug, his hands were awkwardly still by his sides, until he snapped out of it, and slightly patted the boy's back "It's okay....Just be careful next time, and check for any cars before crossing....Drivers are nuts those days"
@☄cha eunwoo Minseok heard someone yell something. In fact there were a lot of people yelling, but he didn't know about what and figured it didn't have anything to do with him until his backpack was yanked and he was pulled back seconds before a speeding car hit him. Minseok's heart nearly beat out of his chest at the close call. Disoriented on weak legs, he nearly collapsed on the sidewalk, opting to bend over with his hands on his knees as he tried to calm down, but it wasn't working. Hands shaking from adrenaline, he looked up at his savior in awe. He looked about the same age as him, but taller. "Th-th-thank you!" He hugged him tight, feeling his tears coming on from his near death experience.
@kim minseok Getting out of university, Eunwoo got his phone out of his pocket, putting on some music, placing his earphones in his ears, before putting his phone back in his pocket. He was more than eager to get to his room at the moment and just rest after such a long day. Sometimes he questioned why should he go through all this hell just to get some education, which he wasn't even sure if he will be really needing it. Running his hand through his hair, he waited at the sidewalk of the intersection, his eyes focused on the lights in front of him, waiting for it to turn green before he walks. When it finally turned green, he took a look at both ways as he learned before it's best to make sure no cars are actually moving before crossing, and just like he expected he noticed a speeding car coming this way. As soon as he looked in front of him, he noticed a guy walking by himself, not even noticing the car rushing to him. "Yah! Get the hell out of there" he screamed at the guy, who seemed to either not hear him or just ignore him "Ugh! " he mumbled to himself, before he ran toward the latter, pulling him away from the car's path as fast as he can, seeing if he was a little bit more late the boy may have been hit.
@☄cha eunwoo Finally he was out of there. Minseok spent the last hour and a half in the bookstore searching high and low for the book required for his English class. Turns out it was on display right in front of the door, but he'd been too busy searching ice cream parlors in the area on his phone to notice it and ended up passing right by it. He pouted for a few seconds when an employee helped him find what he was looking for, then he paid for it with a smile, excited to get ice cream after the long wait. Now he stood on the corner at a crowded intersection waiting for the crosswalk sign to change. When it did he was the first one off the sidewalk unaware of the oncoming car about to turn with no regard for the red light.
@nam taehyun Without asking, Mino had felt the slight discomfort in his family every time he had crossed their path. The parents were distants from each other and the kid in the middle suffered from their choices yet never complained. He supposed the couple was now seperated and Taehyun still didn't make it sound like it was a big deal. The friends he saw as family had run to other concerns just like the beta did and Mino had the feeling it got lonely for the younger, he was very far from guessing how bad it was for Taehyun.
"But you still fought and hanged in there." He said with worries numbing his smile. There was definitely more to the other's story but he was a stranger now. He couldn’t ask, he wasn't even sure he deserved the intimacy anymore.
"I know you will make a lot of friends at Azrael and if something was to happen, you know you have a friend among the nurses right? You can come to me for any issue, I won't let you down."
He smiled at the other and got up from his chair.
"Come on, I'll drive you back to school so that you rest well."
@β☣song mino Taehyun sighs, thinking back to the people who he had once called his friends. It's not that they abandoned him, but Taehyun felt that way even though he knew it was true. The omega takes a deep breath,"Well my dad wasn't ever around. My mom wasn't his mate. Mino, those people just grew up before I had to. I spent a lot of time with my half brothers and my sisters. I wouldn't say we're close but, the people that were my friends had been my only escape from home." He explained, biting his bottom lip softly at the painful memory. His friends had protected him, but once they were gone there was almost nothing to stop his older half brothers, the ones that belonged to the mate of his father. They did whatever they pleased with Taehyun since his mother was too busy to care for him, his father didn't care, and everyone else was too scared to stand up for him as a child.
@nam taehyun "Even if it made me sick, I would only remember the upsides, I mean I used to be very corrupted as it came to anything you did. You were the best, and I bet you still are."
He shrugged, guilty of being always on Taehyun's side.
Mino frowned slightly and turned to look at the younger one, slightly worried as to those who did leave him too.
"Did other people leave you at some point though? I barely knew your family, let alone your friends since I'm a little older than you but you implied that you were disappointed some and I wasn't the only one to disappoint you..."
@β☣song mino Taehyun shook his head, his lips pursed to hold back laughter of his own. What had he been trying to achieve with a dish as sweet as the one Mino had described? It must have been a lot of fun to make if nothing else.
The omega stared at Mino in confusion, the mood dropping ever so slightly. He didn't say anything though and just lowered his gaze,feeling as if the older male was scolding him. He brushed it off though, assuming he was just being too sensitive about the whole situation.
Eventually Taehyun raised his eyes to meet Mino's again and smiles softly,"Don't worry. I'm sure you'll see enough of me to make you sick. Even if you didn't get sick from that dish I had made you."
@nam taehyun Mino grinned and hid the lower half of his face his his palm as he saw Taehyun ashamed of his old try. It was even funnier because the Beta had kept a very good memory of the gesture. He had loved it just because his young protégé simply tried with all his might to compensate for the care and attention he used to receive. Mino had made a point to finish the bowl and sure, he went on an incredible sugar rush for a few hours and comatosed for the following days but he cherished the other's attentio till this very day.
"You're joking?! I ate it all! It wasn't so bad you know."
But mostly, he respected everything the younger did for him and he didnt fail to show his disappointment now that Taehyun refused to do anything himself for him.
"Tae, I remember it because it was a nice memory, it ate it and I don't remember being sick to my stomach. I wouldn't get sick after anything you could do because I know all you do is with your sincere heart. It used to be that way and I believe it's not the kind of habit you'd lose so easily."
He reached out to the younger's arm lightly, looking at him serenely.
"No pressure." He said and gazed at the other's lips shortly before biting on his and looking away, pulling his hand back. "You never made me sick or sad." The melancholy in his tone was obvious for he knew he made the younger suffer.
"I'll be fine with the tiniest regard of yours." He added and finished his coffee straightly.
@β☣song mino Taehyun had noticed the way Mino watched him, he was still young but he wasn't blind. He must have grown up nicely if the look in Mino's eyes was anything to go by, but he didn't mention it. They were both older now, and he was more than sure Mino must ave been stressed about his job so he just chalked it all up to frustration and shrugged it off, ignoring the way his heart pace sped up when Mino looked at him as if he were the most important thing in the world.
The younger wolf pouted and looked down at his coffee, playing with his fingers for a moment before looking back up at the beta,"Oh shush, I was a kid! I'm sure I was doing my best. Besides, its the thought that counts right?"Taehyun wished he had given Mino a better wish, something he could have been proud of but Chocolate chips and fizzy sweets with milk? Why did he ever think that was a good idea?"I seriously hope you didnt eat that, even if it was to humor me. That sounds like a stomach ache waiting to happen.."He trailed off with a disgusted shudder, not even wanting to imagine how insanely sweet it must as been.
"Let,s not have a repeat of that. I'd rather buy us lunch than make it and then make you sick.. honestly if that was only the last thing i had given you i dont even want to think about what the worst thing had been."
@nam taehyun Mino watched as the omega leant forward and he looked at how his traits had changed for the best. He looked more mature than he had ever been, his chubby cheeks had mostly disappeared and still his smile was just as cute as it used to be. The Beta's heart warmed up but the other's intentions and he felt a little stressed as the feelings of the past came rushing back to him as if he never ran away. He still wanted to care for Taehyun, protect him, hug him away from anything that would make him sad. He was the sad beta that always wished to be the right one for a very younger omega and it would be even more impossible to him now that he was part of the staff of Taehyun's school.
"I would love that Tae." he said softly, the fresh wind giving him shivers, or was it the persisting feeling of deja vu, from cute attentions he'd receive to his lack of self control and calm when it came to someone he liked a little more than the rest. "Do tell me beforehand so that I can make sure I will have a break on time. Did you improve your cooking skills though? I remember the last luch you made for us, which was a bowl of cornflakes, chocolate chips and fizzy sweets with warm milk."
He shortly closed his eyes with a smile before chuckling. "It wasn't bad but that much sugar will make me as jumpy as it used to except I might look like a fool at my age."
He used to encourage Taehyun in all that he did and it meant being surprised with the most surprising tendencies back in the day. He wondered how much the other remembered of it.
@β☣song mino Taehyun smiled to himself and nodded, hoping it wouldn't be harder to find than the library that he had tried finding a few days prior.
"I hope we can rebuild what we had in the past then."The omega was touched by the beta's words. No matter how much time had past he had never forgotten about Taehyun or the little things he used to do that not even he remembered. It was so sweet and Taehyun found himself leaning closer, arms resting on the table in front of him,"I must have been a pretty sweet kid since you cared for me so much." Although Taehyun remembered bits and pieces of the past, due to his young age at the time he could not remember as much as Mino did. That fact made him a little sad, but as he had said before, he hoped they could become close once again.
"Oh! Maybe I can bring you lunch sometime and we can eat together?"Taehyun asked, head tilting slightly,"I could maybe send you a message before hand to make sure you're not busy..?"
@nam taehyun Mino laughed shortly and quietly at the remark and he nodded. "It's easy to find but it's all I know. It's my first year working here and I'm still visiting around when I have time."
The older offered a smile at Taehyun, honestly looking forward to seeing him.
"You would never be a bother to me Taehyun, you've never been one and I don't think you will ever be one to me. You're very important to me you know."
He had no idea if Taehyun ever grasped how much he could worry for him, making sure he got home safely, slipping snacks in his backpack when made sure to cross his path before school. It was a responsibility that still woke the beta early when he moved for his studies, a constant worry in the back of his mind. It faded with time, but still remained.
"You were not sick a lot, but when you were it was awful to be able to do so little..." Mino used to feel so helpless. He needed the knowledge. He was still getting there.
"If you're sick, just call me and I'll come. I will give you my personal number later."
He took a long sip, his mind replaying those moments where he had felt the early need to live with the younger to take care of him. Those were innocent thoughts but upon reaching puberty, he felt like he couldn't trust himself and before he even disappointed himself, Mino left.
"You used to bring me food when I was feeling unwell or if I looked depressed. You knew it would make me smile."
He chuckled lightly, his thumb caressing the cup he was holding. "Do you have an idea what you'd like to do after this school?"
@β☣song mino Taehyun could still sense that Mino had more to say, maybe more apologies, but he let it go. Besides, this was the first time they had seen each other after so many years, some things needed time and this was one of those things.
The omega quietly drank his coffee as Mino spoke, smiling in spite of himself at the invitation. It couldn't hurt to visit the Beta, not when he was so kind and caring. He was curious about Mini's job as well, wondering how close he was to his goal. He seemed to be the kind of person to be very dedicated, plus he was still very young. He must have started studying very early, maybe when he had still known Taehyun as a child.
"I promise I'll pay you a visit.."Taehyun trails off and glances down at his hands that were resting on his lap with a embarrassed smile,"..as soon as I figure out where it is." He confessed with a small laugh," I don't want to bother you, but I'm sure I can visit you if you're on campus, that'll let us catch up on everything properly." If Taehyun was going to let what he remembered control what he thought of Mino now, he would still be that little kid that the beta knew before. He wanted to relearn everything about the beta he used to know, see what he was like now and stop comparing him to the person he remembered as a child."If I get sick I know you'll take care of me just like when we were kids, I remember you doing that for me too."
@nam taehyun The nurse was hopeful at the other's semi-acceptation. It was not definitive but at least Taehyun would know where to find him if he ever felt like being with someone who used to know him, someone who cared for him beyond his job in the school.
Mino smilled and huffed lightly while looking at his cup of coffee after hearing the question. The mere fact that Taehyun asked meant that he really had forgotten about it all. Sure Taehyun was younger and maybe he remembered it so well because he had more feelings he bottled up back in the day. He nodded with a melancholic smile and looked away, biting his inner cheek as a way to for himself to think of something else, anything that wouldn't impose too much on the younger. "I won't beat myself up for leaving you then." he declared and drank some coffee for it. He had so many more reasons to beat himself up now: starting with the fact that even after spending so many years apart, he still cared that much for Taehyun. He would definitely beat himself up for even reminding Taehyun of it all, because one thing was sure, it was hard on him and Mino had reminded him of his past that clearly wasn't happy for all he heard.
"You don't have to visit me, but if you ever feel like it, my door will always be open and if you need, I can also visit you if you're unwell." He said and smiled kindly, looking at the younger over the frame of his glasses.
@β☣song mino Taehyun had a bitter taste in his mouth. Mino was looking at him with an expression that he could only read as pity. Maybe it wasn't that, maybe he just didn't know how to read the Beta like he used to, if he ever had at all. The omega wanted to confront him on this, but finally just decided to let it go after hearing the rest of Mino's words. If he took him up on his offer and visited him at the daycare center, then maybe they could resolve whatever the issue, or unresolved feelings, between them were.
"I might take you up on that offer sometime.."Taehyun mumbled as he finally grabbed his cup of coffee and took a small sip. He waited a moment before speaking up again,"Mino, really, don't take it to heart. Im sure that the decision you made was the best, even if it meant having to leave. You don't need to apologize. Were we really together that much for you to feel this bad? I mean, you scent.. it is has a very nice feeling to it. I dont know how to properly explain it but that wasn't my point,"He took a deep breath, feeling like he was rambling on a bit,"My point it, I don't want you to continue to beat yourself up for what you did."
@nam taehyun Mino realized he could have reassured the younger if he had been around when Taehyun understood what he was. He noticed the other withdrew his warm hand and the beta missed it already. He did understand that he wasn't the only one to disappoint Taehyun, and that fact just hurt a little more: there were more he looked out to and they all disappointed him. He offered a weak smile in return as he never really had the strength to hide what he thought. He'd rather turn away to not be seen rather than fake an emotion he didn't feel.
He however was offered a way to change the subject as Taehyun seemed to want to move on.
"I'm not going to wish for you to be sick but I would really like it if you were to visit the daycare center anyway; I might want to see you since I will be spending a lot of time working there."
He lightly nudged the younger's knee with his and took a sip of his coffee.
"I will always feel guilty for the choice I made, I have not forgotten about you all this while. But I hope it will be worth it: you made it without me as far as I can see, you look good; and you're not afraid to move far from home on your own, I couldn't be happier for that. Now it's up to me to succeed on my part too."
He didn't want Taehyun to worry about him; he was very long to forgive himself and he took responsibilities at heart even when he wasn't worthy of them.
@β☣song mino Taehyun shook his head and sighed softly as he leaned over to gently pat Mino's hand in hopes of comforting the other male. He looked so insanely guilty and the omega never meant to make him look like that. What he had said was not directed solely at Mino. He bit his bottom lip to keep himself from apologizing and pulled his hand back.
"It's not like that okay? When I was younger I didn't know I was an omega and it's not like I thought I was too weak but I didn't have the stamina boys my age had either plus, I had just gotten so accustomed to my older siblings and their friends that I just felt as if I didn't fit in with the people my age."Taehyun sighed,"Don't take it so personally."He mumbles, staring down at the coffee Minho had put in his hands and dropping his hands to his lap instead. Taehyun wasn't sure why he was so frustrated with Mino, but he was, and as much as he wanted to he wasn't the kind of person to hide his feelings. He wore his heart on his sleeve and he was more than sure Mino would be able to see right through him so he put a smile on his face and looked up to meet Mino's eyes," You did what you thought was right. What you did is done and it's too late to take it back. Don't worry about me though Mino, I don't think I'll go to the daycare anytime soon. I'm pretty healthy."
@nam taehyun Mino saw that for half a second, the look on the younger's face had change entirely, and this was something he had never experienced with him, as if his hear carried too much doubt to let himself really enjoy the moment and eventually doubted it would last. As if he distanced himself from the moment rather than being disappointed at some point. He felt extremely guilty for it but managed to smile gently and act as if all was okay.
He rested both their coffees on the table and sat next to the omega and listened to him.
His mouth gaped shortly ans Mino held back the excuse he wanted to give for a moment, looking at the busy street though he was not distracted by it.
"I think what you did was the best you could do in order to protect yourself."
He admitted and lowered his gaze. He was one of those elders who grew apart and left him to a lonely life, without any excuse or explanation as if he was too stupid to understand. Mino suddenly didn't wish to live on his past memories and figured he could show the man he had become instead.
"Are the boys of your age boring?" He asked and regretted he drew a line between them again but soon enough he'd be a nurse again and he would have to make sure the students were not mistaken as to how serious he was with his job.
"You were smart enough to spark my interest, I dont see why younger wouldn't see it too."
He smiled faintly and turned to Taehyun: "Still I'm sorry for what I did. I understand all you remember of me is that I didn't care enough to stay but believe me, I left because I cared for you. It doesn't make my excuse any better and I won't try to make you remember what you had to forget. Just know that you have a friend in daycare if you ever feel lonely."
The oldest of both took the other's hand to put one of the warm coffees in his palm, warming it up instantly. He offered a kind smile and retrived his hands carefully.
@β☣song mino As Taehyun walked out the book store he slowed down, glancing over his shoulder to make sure that Mino was following him. For a moment, he couldn't see the Beta and he could his his heart drop, thinking that the Beta was not going to actually come with him. He almost turned to just go back to school when Mino finally came out the store, causing the omega to smile softly.
"Oh really?"The omega's smile widens, amused at the fact that at least that part of him had not changed very much. He has so grateful that Minho had remembered him all this time and somehow life had brought them together once again. He didn't have that many close friends as a child, and next to none now that he had moved here, but to have Mino here with him was worth all the awkwardness he had experienced the past week. Their friendship felt so natural and Taehyun found himself feeling calm and safe with the Beta.
"I was a kid. Most of the time when I was not with someone older, I'd be alone.. I remember things, but I guess it was just easier for me to forget the people who grew up and left."Taehyun said as he sat down, his smile fading. It sounded a lot sadder than he had originally intended but it was the truth.
@nam taehyun Mino saw the younger's lips move, explaining what had led him in this shop but he sight and all he could hear was /Destiny/. He would need to keep a distance with Taehyun for hurting him already and yet he would eat the crumbles he would find on hit way to keep up with the younger xaos wolf.
He heard the few words that blew his mind of any restraints and logic and the Beta's eyes widened, staring in the blue as Taehyun lightly nudged him to get out. Mino still took a few seconds to pick himself up, watching the younger leave first in total disbelief. They had been apart for years and the feelings came all rushing at once for the way too young omega he had promised to look after.
"You were calm at times... but whenever you had something in mind, you were like a dart and I could barely keep up." Mino said as he managed to join the youngest for a walk in the street. He carefully picked the memories that included him rather than those he cherished ever since, of him rocking Taehyun to sleep, hugging him after he was sad, watching him sleep with the fear that his newly discovered cycles would get the best of him and hurt the one he loved. Mino was sixteen and the omega was barely aware of his wolf form back in the day.
