@Yoon Mirae (sorry, I have been slacking on my replies)
He waited for her to take her own seat before even moving to his, once seated he looked her over then to her resume that he'd been reading for the past few day. With a deep sigh he looked back to the other, "I'm going to be very honest with you as I hope you will be with me; I normally have my doubts about women joining the navy, but not because they are women."
"I've had to deal with the death of many female crew mates," he explained himself before the one before him became offended. Under normal circumstances he wouldn't lump people together, but with the way things were it was a bit harder not to do so. "Many of which were not properly trained, I used to believe they have earned their strips, but that never seemed to be the case. They were merely decorative ranks only wanting a title and never wanting to do the hard work; which does no good when dealing with pirates or other kingdom's armies."
Placing the paper down as he folded his fingers together, looking her in the eyes, wanting to test her resolve. And see just how honest or how good she was at lying to him, what she said today he would hold her to in the future. "Now, what I want to hear from you, is that you've have completed your training and have worked you way through the ranks properly. I do not have time to deal with someone whom is untrained and doesn't pull their weight."
@Teru Mirae had been apart of smaller Naval missions, making this her first time being an official crew member of a large kingdom's fleet. The country was not a new place, however it was definitely not her native home and she really couldn't say that she was 'protecting her people'. The militant woman didn't pay any mind to that fact though. Honor for carrying out the common good was enough. That may be why she's strayed away from large navies. There's always an amount of corrupt politics involved in greatly-governed military groups that in the end isn't best for the people. Mirae has gone on savior missions and sea patrol trips mostly, having had her taste of war early on, invasion and conquest were not on her bucket list.
However, here she was in spite of all this, attempting to join a kingdom fleet in hopes of making a bigger impact on the security of a nation. She made sure to wear her nicest uniform with the few medals she had earned in her career. Mirae's hair was neatly tied in a bun under her beret as she waited to be invited into the Captain's office.
With a slow and steady breath, she waited in front of the office door to be greeted by the man himself. "Yes, sir." She gave a sharp but polite nod to the captain before following his instructions and sitting down.
@Yoon Mirae Going over the resume of another new transfer as he waited for her arrival. Going over he many accomplishments, he had to admit, he was impressed. Not many women join the Navy and very few had ever stayed long enough to make it high enough in ranks; the right way, at least. He frowned slightly at the thought, trying to fight away the doubt that took over. He hoped this one was a true fighter and not just some made up story. He wouldn't know until he met her.
He looked over to the door hearing a knock, one of the officers called out. Informing him that his guest had arrived. With a heavy sigh, he got up from his seat and headed towards the door. Opening it gently to meet the this woman.
"Please, enter." He opened the door wider, "take a seat near the desk, if you don't mind."
@Byun Baekhyun [SH] "Unfortunately, I have no authority in the brothel." He shook his head, he knew this would've happened eventually, but they refused to cooperate with him. With a sigh he explained, "I had asked the owner for some information and to allow me to aid in protecting his establishment, but was refused. He told me having the navy around would hinder his business. Said for me to never come around."
"There's nothing I can do to help them." He gave a simple shrug, not caring how cold-hearted he may seem. He wasn't allowed to go against orders. The admiral made it clear for him to stay the hell away.
Chewing the inside of his cheek in thought, there was only one group with such galls to do such a thing. He wasn't being targeted he was being teased. That was making sure he knew they were nearby. He frowned, even with them being in harbor it was up to the admiral if he was to take them down. But he didn't know where the leech at decided to drown himself. "Of course, they're intruders, but not like any you think you know. It's best if you stay out of it."
@Teru This job gave Baekhyun no pleasure at all. He disliked his position to the maximum and the fact that he has to go out and actually discuss stuff was making him anxious. It was way better when his mother was doing the talking. He had no clue how to do that, in the end he was still a child. Baekhyun cleared his throat, but he did not move from his spot. "Some pirates invaded the village's center last night and stole gold from a brothel, three women and killed one man", Baekhyun explained and took a deep breath after. "The guards managed to capture one of them. He was marked like your men. When they asked who he was working for, he has pointed at you", he continued and then looked a bit down. "I might not know a lot, but I know that a pirate never sells his captain out, which made us believe they were intruders", he looked up again. "Intruders from the sea".
@Byun Baekhyun [SH] This was why Teru disliked dealing with nobles and their offspring, they always believed that their matters were the most important. As if the town's safety was in danger showed anything befall them. Always abutting as if the captain didn't know whay was going on our the slightest idea how to do his job. He did his best not to glared at the young duke, he knew the young man was probably still getting used to his position, but he wad going to have to learn a better way to speak with others when dealing with business. That not everyone was going to bend to his will. Chewing the inside of his cheek before deciding he may as well m hear him out, no doubt her would pester him until he got his way.
"Very well then, speak. What is it that I could have possibly have missed?" He crossed his arms in front on him while leaning on his desk, giving him any expression of 'amuse me '.
@Teru Baekhyun listens to the male, still intimidated but he tries his best to keep his tough face on. He did not know what the crew was instructed to do. He was simply let to enter because of his position. He would have never intruded either way and he kind of feels guilty, even if it is not directly his fault. "Yes, the Duke of Cornwall", Baekhyun nodded shortly and looked at the male after. "I have come to discuss some political matter of which you might not be aware of and which put our town's safety at strike", Baekhyun explained and hope that the man will somehow calm down and forget about the event before.
@Byun Baekhyun [SH] "That's where your problems lays," he frowned, he would have to talk to the crew about their behavior. They were never supposed to just allow anyone on to the ship, especially without announcing them. And NEVER just allow them into his private quarters regardless if the door was open. He will see how they enjoy such an intrusion on their next drill session. "They can't even handle simple orders."
"The Duke?" He asked with some confusion, having to think of which ones have recently passed. He's met the daughter of one, but she had not mentioned anything about sibling nor did he ask. Was he from the other? "Of Cornwall?"
@Teru Baekhyun was slightly taken aback by the male's informality and sudden roughness. But, knowing how the captain must be busy and knowing that the male is much older than he is, he just swallowed his words. "I apologize again, sir. Your crew was more than eager to persuade me to enter right away, since your door was ajar. I would have announced my arrival beforehand, but there are some urgent matters that appeared overnight", Baekhyun spoke and cleared his throat after, trying to chase his anxiety away. The male before him did make him a tiny bit uncomfortable. "You must not know me, sir. I am the Duke's son, Baekhyun. But more recently, I have taken my father's position since he has unfortunately passed away a few years ago", he explained and stood right where he was, not even leaning closer, as if he was made of stone.
@Byun Baekhyun The captain gave the intruder a side glare, not at all happy with his unannounced presence. He had enough going on, he didn't need his contractors to pay him a personal visit. The moment they started doing that, the worse thing normally became. With a heavy sigh, he got up from his desk tossing aside the documents he had been going over. He'd have to get through these complaints later.
"One usually knocks before entering my private quarters. You do realize that I do live here and there are time where I may be indecent." Walking over to the man, "And to whom do I owe the pleasure?"
@Park Sunyoung [H] He waited patiently on the deck for the Dame, trying to to appear nervous about the inspection. It was too late now to send his men to run over his last minute check, watching the woman being led up by his second-in-command. Putting on a smile, walking over to meet her, "You must be the infamous, Meng Jia. I am the captain of this ship, Teru."
Feeling a little stupid for his introduction, they have met before, though he was the commander at the time. Well, he could probably excuse it as being formal and reminding her gently that he had been promoted. Dismissing the officer, before holding a hand up gesturing for the door to his office. "I believe we have matters to discuss."
@Teru The people of Cornwall were usually satisfied by their protection, but recent events made their doubt the efficiency of the navy when it comes to protecting goods. Because there were some reports of stolen items, Baekhyun, as the duke and authority of Cornwall, has to investigate the matter. Not that he is happy about it, in fact he hates formalities but what must be done, must be done. Without further ado, he found himself at the decks, most precisely in front of the great ship: Matenrou Opera. There was a signed contract between the nobility and the navy, where the only way they could keep their ships on their waters was to offer a 24 hour protection of the town and its citizens. As that protection has failed recently, Baekhyun wonders if the captain is aware of this matter or if there are perhaps some moles trying to sabotage the peace between pirates and citizens. Baekhyun was let at once to approach the captain's cabin, as the officers led him exactly where he needed to go. Once he has entered, he spotted the captain sitting at his desk reading some parchments. Baekhyun did not really personally knew the captain, but he knows his father knew him very well. "Excuse my intrusion, sir", Baekhyun said in a formal tone and waited for the man to allow him to approach.
@Teru Jia woke up early that morning getting ready for her schedule planned out for the day. One of the first being to meet with the Navy's captain and make sure everything was going all right at the harbor and even at sea. Getting dressed in her uniform she tied her hair up, made sure everything was in order and headed out the door into her carriage that was awaiting her outside.
She went by the castle first visiting with the king as he wanted to make sure that she understood what she would be doing, who she would be talking to and that she could handle things on her way out. Grabbing a bite to eat before she headed out to the harbor.
"We've arrived Madame Jia." The horseman spoke getting off the carriage and opening the door for the girl to get off the carraige. "Thank you." She bowed her head lightly getting off the carriage looking around taking in her surroundings a bit before meeting one of the Navy's crewman at the dock.
@Park Sunyoung [H] Teru was in his quarters working on some paper work regarding security of the harbor and his weekly reports, wanting to get them done and out of the way before his quest arrived. He had to make a good impression to show the kind how much he could improve in a short amount of time, even if it was just still in the planning aspects. He need to recover a bit of his pride, especially after losing a couple of the newly built ships to pirates. Being ill prepared was no excuse, he should've been ready for them. Should've known that they would try something once the new fleet was finished. He frowned slightly at the though, bitterness washing over him. He couldn't let this hold him back.
A knock on his door pulled him out of his thoughts. Calling out, "Yes?"
"A Carriage has arrived near the docks," one of his crewmen called out from behind the door. "It bears the insignia from the letter."
"Very well, I'll be out in a minute." With a heavy sigh, the captain put away his pen. Carefully, getting to his feet, not wanting to drop or spill anything on his desk. Checking himself over before heading to the doom, to meet the Dame that had come to review his security.
