@Eli Kim Homicide. A dead body on his very first day interning? Thankfully, Jimin had seen his fair share of death and although it could be deeply unsettling, in general, he wasn't particularly phased by it. Nor was he weak hearted so no matter how gruesome the scene may be, Jimin imagined he probably wouldn't become lightheaded or ill. How embarrassing might that be? Without even a full twenty-four hours under his belt, puking his guts up on his partner over a little bit of blood. Not today. If Jimin could help it, anyway.

Jimin's expression remained placid, quite unusual to his naturally upbeat personality, and he gave a nod of understanding. Eli called the shots, obviously, and Jimin planned to do whatever was asked of him. Unlike a fellow graduate from the academy, whom after being discharged into a police task force made a complete of himself. Jimin didn't know the full details, but what he'd heard through the grapevine suggested the man directly disobeyed his partner, thinking he knew better, and made a pretty costly slip-up. "Did they give us any details about the victim?" Jimin inquired, remaining close to Eli at all times. "Or even the perp, maybe?"

The phone call had been brief, to say the least, so Jimin highly doubted much other than pertinent details passed through the receiver, but it never hurt to ask. At the mention of a bullet proof vest, Jimin involuntarily grazed a hand across his chest seeking padding he knew he did not have on while he shook his head. "No." Jimin replied. He had a dozen questions. Was the area still dangerous? Did they have a suspect already? And was that suspect lingering near forensics? Were they going after the suspect immediately? He digested the situation, watching Eli rummage for a bit; only after a solid minute did Jimin dare reach into Eli's trunk to retrieve the vest.

He made quick of fastening it into place, silently studying Eli's demeanor for a hint about how the man of few words truly felt about their case. Along his scan, Jimin noticed that the shirt Eli had on fit a little too well to have any protection underneath. "You're not wearing one." Jimin pointed out, eyes slightly slanted. "Don't tell me," Jimin clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes. "I got myself a partner who thinks he's bulletproof." Casual, perhaps a bit too friendly for two people whom had met only minutes ago.

However, Jimin was not a fan of tension or silence where it could be avoided, so the sooner they melded the better off they'd be. He quirked his lips to half a grin and hoped Eli wouldn't be too annoyed before climbing into the passenger side of Eli's vehicle. Follow Eli's lead-- simple, straight forward instructions which Jimin should have no trouble adhering to. In theory.

@Jimin ★ [H] Eli could appreciate the other's politeness and discipline. Maybe this wasn't so bad. At least he didn't have some young brat, who was itching to shoot someone.

"We got a homicide", Eli breathed out, clearly not liking the prospect. He hated homicide cases. As a rookie he accidentally got assigned to one, but after killing that case, he just kept getting them. He was glad he was useful for something, but he would've liked if it wasn't for something where there was no one to be saved, just justice for the dead.

He had his own car, but unlike most, he preferred police issue cars. Eli had experienced car chases, getting shot at and being pushed off the road. With that in mind, it was reassuring that the windows were bulletproof and that the whole car in general was a little sturdier than a commercial vehicle.

As he unlocked his usual vehicle from a distance it hit him. He hadn't had a homicide case in ages. The captain was serious about pitching him for the task force if he and his new partner did well. That was motivation to keep the guy on a short leash, so he quickly learned and could do without within three cases.

"When we arrive, we go to forensics first. Just walk behind me and follow my lead. You know how it goes in the books, now I want you to be passively active and maybe next time ya already know the drill." Eli gave the other a friendly pat on the back, before pausing. He almost stepped in, but the last minute he his heels and went to the back of the trunk. "Are you wearing a bulletproof vest?" He asked as he already had started rummaging through the stuff he had back there. He was sure he had one here.

Eli wasn't wearing one himself, but he wanted rookies to have one in case. For senior officers, experience made them find cover anywhere, anytime, so if things unexpectedly would be going south, Eli didn't worry much. Rookies, however, tended to panic, especially in their first real shootout. He'd rather have his partner wear it and nothing happened than that he had regrets.

@Eli Kim [[shortened this a bit to be more manageable, I hope that’s alright]]

The man wasn't nearly as off-putting as his outward appearance and body language insinuated he would be. Still, Jimin had an inkling that his tutor wasn't entirely interested in babysitting an intern. Fair enough. Jimin knew that training wasn't for everybody, he was one of the rare few who enjoyed cross-training. Although, none of the brunette's positions had ever been anything as prestigious police work. "Duly noted." Jimin responded with a small nod. By no means was he trying to fluff Eli's ego, but he certainly wasn't about to argue with his superior officer. Just as Jimin opened his mouth to ask Eli what he could do to get started, a single digit silenced him.

Jimin took note of the change in Eli's expression, frowning respectively. By no means whatsoever was Jimin an expert, but he liked to think he understood and thing or two about human emotions. A case on his first day? So soon? Of course, the nature of police work surely was unpredictable at best, but Jimin hardly fit the bill of a trained officer. Sure, he had passed all the required academy courses and undergone every single test and trail they put him through with flying colors—no number of manuals or simulators or practicing could replace the real deal. Jimin, surprisingly, felt incredibly calm all things considered.

Again, Jimin wanted to speak, but Eli cut him to the quick directing the younger male to save his questions for the car. Fair enough. Jimin followed close behind, eventually managing to get beside Eli. “What’s going on?” Jimin questioned. Was he even privy to details of the case? More importantly, Jimin and Eli had never worked together in any function or form prior, so Jimin didn’t exactly know what to anticipate once they were out in the field. The dynamics between partners could make or break a task force, Jimin imagined, and although he wasn’t formally part of the team being Eli’s intern made him pretty damn close.

It didn’t help that as a whole, Eli was already fairly intimidating. The grace and fluidity with which Eli moved doing something even as simple was putting on his jacket made Jimin bulk. Much could be learned from the older man, of that Jimin knew for certain. “I guess I should be asking what I can do to help.” Jimin amended as they approached the garage of squad cars. “And what do I need to know?”

@Jimin ★ [H] Unsurprisingly to anyone having worked there for longer than a week, Eli was doing paperwork, finishing reports and signing off affidavits. He didn't have time to be in court 24/7 to make statements. Only if the case got dubious or was high profile, he was required to be there and make an official statement in front of a judge. The last time he was dragged through the mud during a cross-examination by a fancy lawyer was when he was still on the task force and trying to get a mob boss behind bars. Trying being the key word.

He seemed deep into it, but from the corner of his eyes he noticed someone approaching. 'Tardy one', he thought with the same mental scowl as he had naturally on his face. He tore his eyes away when the other spoke. 'Good morning my ', he thought before the other showed respect he usually had to force out of people.

The senior cop stood up and bowed a little, showing he was still the boss between the two, but not completely without manners. A small smile appeared on his face for a second at the compliment, but he soon enough told himself the other was kissing his to cover up his tardiness.

The taller male crossed his arms over the broadness of his chest and tilted his head a little with a hard expression on his face. "Watch out there or your nose turns brown before the end of the day. Save it for someone who has nothing but his ego to offer", the detective said strictly. His tone wasn't biting or hostile, merely like he was stating facts of a case. He was about to sit back down when his phone rang. He held his finger up for a second as he fished it out of the pocket of the dark green bomber jacket hanging from his seat.

"Detective Kim... text the address and secure the parameter." He looked up, expression changed, somehow more emotional, but just as professional. "Meeting the captain will have to wait. We have a case, let's go. Questions can be asked on the way." He didn't miss a beat, taking his bomber jacket off the chair and swinging it onto his body like a professional model who had done tons of commercials for this particular jacket. It was clearly old, worn. It had multiple holes in the sleeves, faded food and coffee stains on the front, frayed edges and clear places where it had been sewn together by a non-professional.

The professional took his paper coffee cup off his desk and took a quick sip, before walking with a fast, steady, but somehow calm pace out of the room, expecting his intern to need no instruction to follow him.

@Eli Kim .
The man's kind smile momentarily eased Jimin's concerns, that is until it was confirmed that this man was indeed /not/ the person whom he needed to be meeting with. "Ah," Jimin breathed, a dozen little light bulbs going off after Doohyun mentioned the detective's name. "Eli Kim, that's right." Everything was falling into place; Jimin was in the right building, he'd met a friendly detective already, heck he even remembered his mentor's name! His celebration was short lived however as Jimin followed Doohyun's finger and spotted a very unpleasant looking man. Fantastic. Of course the glowering detective would be the one Jimin was assigned to. With a heavy sigh, Jimin gave a nod of thanks and said, "I appreciate your help very much, and thank you for the tip."

A tip which provided little use right now since Jimin hadn't even had an opportunity to feed himself yet, let alone bring along extra food for Eli. Tomorrow, though, Jimin planned to be here with coffee and a delicious treat waiting as apologizing for his late arrival. Eli certainly didn't seem like the type who would take kindly to Jimin showing up after the scheduled time. Seeing as how time very much was not on Jimin's side he approached Eli's desk cautiously, but with his usual confidence brimming along the surface and cleared his throat. "Good morning," Jimin announced his presence boldly then offered a quick bow. "Detective Kim, I'd like to apologize for my tardiness. I'm Park Jimin, your intern."

He silently prayed to whatever god or higher being that might be listening for Eli to be more forgiving than the man's gaze suggested; though the way Jimin's morning had gone so far didn't really hold much promise. Even still, Jimin straightened himself up professionally and offered a polite minuscule smile, adding "I've heard so many wonderful things about you from my trainer at the academy. I feel very fortunate to be under your guidance and look forward to working closely with you during my time here."

Flattery wasn't an angle Jimin liked to work, primarily because he was far too honest to fill someone's head or give them an ego boost just to benefit himself in some way, so it helped that he meant the words he was feeding Eli. Jimin /had/ heard plenty about the detective- enough positive things to make Jimin wonder why exactly they'd decided to stick him with Eli. The man definitely sounded too busy for an intern. This less than charming aura though might be the real reason why. Perhaps some details to those rumors were left out.

@Jimin ★ [H] "Can't you just find a normal replacement for detective Goo?" Eli yelled in the confinement of the captain's office. Years ago he wouldn't have dared, but after years of being colleagues and friends, formalities were thrown out of the door a long time ago, both of them cursing at each other if they felt like it. Min Hyemi, a woman in her 40s, didn't take from anyone, but this man she found some odd friendship with, which now was mostly worrying about him and his mental health.

"No, I can't, because anyone who knows you here finds you a hardhead or intimidating or an ungodly combination of the two. You're great to have around, they like you, but working with you is something even I wouldn't want." She crossed her long legs over each other, tight jeans hugging her curves, making her look much younger than anyone would expect.

Eli was throwing a fit, because he had been assigned an intern, as if he hadn't been shoved down the ranks enough. Sure he still had the title lieutenant, but the biggest thing he had done in the past months was stop a serial robber, who stole vintage cars. He understood the captain's concern, but the way things were right now, it seemed like he was on a pension already.

"Let's make a bet", Eli ended up saying. If he ever wanted to go back to life as it was, he needed to do something and no longer wait around for the captain to take action. "End of the year, the annual drill training. The intern is gonna be on the winning team."

The captain scoffed at the notion. First-years were usually put together and they always just participated for fun. Senior officers were always nice enough to eliminate them not at the start line, but they never got past halfway. "You think you can train him that good?" Elli nodded in confirmation, not missing a beat, though he knew he was bluffing. "If you lose, you're in charge of training interns from now on."

"But if I win, you pitch me for the task force." She didn't need to be told that. She knew what he wanted, had wanted since his psychiatrist allowed him to work again.

The person Jimin addressed looked up, friendly smile on his face. "Oh", he replied, events from earlier this morning all falling together. "The door behind him opened and Eli emerged from the captain's office. "Lee Doohyun, but you might be looking for detective Kim", he said, pointing towards the man with a scowl on his face, now sitting at his desk. "Want a tip? Bribe him with food and if that doesn't work, the captain will know what will." The young man smiled and went back to work.

@Eli Kim Early is on time. On time is late. Late is unacceptable. Words to live by, words Park Jimin always /had/ lived by. And yet here he found himself stumbling up the steps to the police station at 7:03am instead of the scheduled 7:00am sharp. You never get a second chance at a first impression. More words Jimin truly believes with all his heart. A string of curses tumble from his lips as he lunges for the front door, hardly opening it enough to slip inside without grazing the side of the door. Heaven help him if he should stain his crisp, white shirt first thing in the morning. How it happened, Jimin could not even begin to fathom.

Jimin approached each new opportunity as a potential career decision, even if he didn't believe it was the right field for him. With that mindset, the job jumper was quite serious when it came to training and all such related appointments since they were the make or break for whether or not he would do well. His academy training flew by so fast Jimin wasn't entirely sure he hadn't dreamt the entire thing. The offer to intern came shortly there after and needless to say Jimin set out right away to start planning for his first day. Jimin did not own a car, for the time being, and relied heavily on public transportation, walking or using a bike when he could borrow one.

For almost two weeks after his shift at the diner, Jimin made a point of going home then setting off for the police station. He kept record of the time it took as well as the differences depending on the day, the weather, what he was wearing and other contributing factors. All in all, it was roughly a sixty-seven minute walk with no more than a six minute margin of error either way. Today, Jimin left his apartment forty minutes sooner than required intending to make an early arrival and impress the cop he was interning for.

What was the man's name again? Damn it to hell! Jimin silently scolded himself, taking a mental pause to regroup and calm down before he made an absolute fool of himself. Jimin walked briskly toward the main entrance, sparing the clock half a glance; 7:04am. .

"Good morning," Jimin greeted automatically, not daring to step in any further than the doorway. For one, he wasn't entirely certain this was the right person- since he couldn't remember the man's name- and the cop seemed busy, Jimin didn't wish to interrupt more than he already had. "My name's Park Jimin, I'm an intern here. Forgive my intrusion, I'm looking for my mentor and I'm a few minutes late already."
