@k. myeongji her building wasn't exactly far away but it wasn't close either. there was no point in driving there, a rather waste of gas when he could just walk; though he was starting to already regret his mistake. he heard another chime from his phone, but at this point he was too occupied too even check. he tried his best to keep the hood on his head, the vigorous winds and rain droplets pelting his every surface. the echoing splatters of the droplets hitting the ground was all that he could hear. it was bleak and dingy, the skies blackened to not even reveal any moonlight. there was no power along the streets, making it rather hard to see; but he ventured on.
as he made it to the entrance of her building, he couldn't help but run in under the foyer to shield himself from the rain. he removed the hood from his sweater, shaking off the access water as best as he could. it had seemed like he just stepped out of the shower fully clothed. his hair dripping with water, he ran his digits through them, pushing it over towards the side. why didn't he bring an umbrella?
he made way towards the correct apartment, though the corridor was a tad eerie, only the squeaky footsteps of his shoes against the tile floors were to be heard. he tried his best to make sense of the numbers on the doors, using the red emergency exit light to guide his way through. as he found 101, he took a deep breath before balling his fingers up into a fist, knocking against it a few times before stepping back.
@s. hyunwoo myeongji rolled onto her back as she waited for hyunwoo to text her back, to soothe her worries that he had actually gone outside in such horrid weather. as her thoughts went wild thinking about if she could recover the data she had just loss, if hyunwoo was really safe in his home. looking up at her ceiling, her mind went through a couple of these random thoughts as the rain continued to fall against her window. the sound of rain relaxed her usually, but the harshness of this weather still brought a wave of unease in her heart.
her phone lit up once more as a text message arrived, and myeongji immediately sat up properly on her bed, swiping her thumb along the phone to open it. seeing hyunwoo's message, myeongji immediately lightened up, her expression becoming warm. however, a minute later a rush of suspicion blew by her head, and she immediately started typing out a reply for her friend.

text from myeongji: what do you mean by "right now"? are you implying you're thinking of leaving your room later?
a small frown formed on her face as she started worrying if hyunwoo was really planning to go outside. getting up from her bed, she approached the window and watched as the raindrops hit the window. all the street lights seemed to have shut off with the thunderstorm, as expected. the dark and bleary sight only served to remind of myeongji of her worries about her assignment, and about hyunwoo. was he going outside because someone asked him to? he was a very kind man so that was a possibility. regardless, she could only wait for his reply as she hoped that the storm would pass by quickly.
her phone vibrated with another notification. low battery. myeongji sighed heavily, just her luck.
@k. myeongji it was his usual thursday night in, though he had taken a liking to the storming weather developing outside. quite annoying as each crack of thunder shook the nearby earth, but also quite peaceful as the pattering raindrops splattered against the window. he was in the process of printing a few cardstock prints for his portfolio, when the power abruptly went out. he was quite stun, but shook it off since his portfolio wasn't due for another few days.
he heard a small chime ring from his phone, the bright light illuminating his work space. it was myeongji, one of his closest friends. he couldn't help but chuckle to her unfortunate doom, though he still felt bad for her. he figured what else could he do in an empty apartment all by himself.
hyunwoo grabbed hold of his sweater before slipping it on, pulling the hoodie above his head. there was a convenience store nearby and he figured he could at least bring some snacks and additional candles. as he made his way outside, the storm began to rage; the aggressive gusts of wind nearly knocking over every sparse object in sight. another chime emitted from his phone, he decided to only check it once he made it to the store. it was quite a journey but once safely inside the convenience store, he checked his phone before laughing to himself.

not outside right now. don't worry.
he could feel the water seeping into his sweater and onto his skin. it was a disaster but he was already out so what was the point of going back home? hyunwoo grabbed a few savory chips, a few sweet desserts as well as a few drinks as well before making way towards the random items of the store, where he found some candles. he brought everything over to the register before adding into his massive order, a lighter. he grabbed the bag before tying it close to make sure everything inside stayed dry. hyunwoo made his way out of the store, ready to be attacked by the hostile rain once more.
@s. hyunwoo a clap of thunder echoed throughout the apartment. myeongji did not waver from the loud noise, nor the pounding of the raindrops against her window. she was absolutely determined to get this essay done for her healthcare writing assignment tonight because she already knew that she would not have the time to do it tomorrow. her fingers flew across the keyboard as she finished a couple more sentences, a few more words, and she could call it quits for the night. as she was about to save her current progress, her screen went black the same moment another thunderclap echoed in her ears. a look of shock and complete horror went across myeongji's face. she couldn't believe it.
all that hard work, gone.
perhaps her brain was being dramatic, but that was at least a page or two of her assignment gone, unless the auto save gods had smiled upon her. letting out a frustrated groan as she tried to turn her computer on again, myeongji felt that she would have to be defeated by the storm tonight. myeongji threw herself onto her bed, another frustrated noise leaving her lips as she kicked her sheets a bit. this was a major inconvenience for her, a huge pain.
picking up her phone, she checked her texts and immediately started typing out a detailed text about the absolute disaster that had just happened to her and how bored she was going to be for the rest of the night. this text was to none other than hyunwoo, a friend that she had grown close to somehow. the night sky once again lit up with a lighting strike, and suddenly myeongji's thoughts carried away to hyunwoo's safety. it seemed dangerous out there with the weather being so wild.
