@kim minseok ❜ ˣᶦᵘᵐᶦⁿ the young soloist's hair fell over his forehead, a brown lock curled at his brow, as he placed a hand on the knob of the door. the metal felt strangely cold beneath his palm. he might have been running a fever, for all he knew, and that was excuse enough to rush out. yet eunki hesitated. he stood there a moment too long with his slender fingers curled about the brushed metal and there was a knock just as he turned it. it was just another coordinator, a production assistant, or perhaps a manager who had been busy wrangling water bottles for their teenage charges. so he hoped as he turned the knob. he opened the door a crack, and his gaze was naturally drawn down. he expected to bow his head and offer that coordi, or pa, or manager a chance to pass before bustling his way out in a hurry. that wasn't to be.

he had prepared himself sometime ago for the moment he should see minseok again, face-to-face. he had expected to be taken back to a specific moment in time. he had prepared to be transported to the moment when the switch within him had been flipped off, and the light within his eyes had become less an inner spark and more of an act. he expected to remember the feel of his sodden pillowcase stuck to his cheek and his brother junki's hand rubbing over his shoulders, keeping him quiet lest their parents overhear from the other side of the house. his heart may as well have been steel against that moment. if only it had been like that. instead, he was back in his senior year of high school, a new adult all that year, dressed in sopa yellow and black, dancing, sweating, smoothing his hair back from his forehead and panting for breath while such famous seniors had been nice enough to watch their dance troupe perform in the midst of filming, and there was applause, and his ears felt hot, and he was weeping as jongin hugged him and laughing, may as well have been giggling, when he got just a word from Him.

"sunbaenim," he murmured the second he found his voice. it was nothing like the last time he had addressed him. there was no pleading in his voice. he didn't reach out to him, hoping that they could go back, that time didn't have to move forward as it did. "i'm so sorry." his lips trembled, and his voice quavered. "i didn't mean to be in your way." he took a small step back, half-retreating into the shared dressing room, his shoulder pressing against the depth of the door. there wasn't enough distance. there couldn't be enough distance. not when he couldn't even bring himself to acknowledge that minseok was back, that he had heard the performance but refused to watch because he would weep, that if he didn't leave now he would only say something they both might regret. "i was just leaving." he hid his face because he couldn't feign a smile. when his lungs ached, refusing to draw another breath so long as the air felt so heavy, he gasped out at last as he felt at least one pair of eyes from behind him staring at him as if he were just a prop out of place within the scene. "if you'll just excuse me."

@hong eunki ❜ Flashing lights and a flurry of movements were all that he could comprehend in the moment. The stage was his first to signify his return from the Korean military. His hiatus did little to benefit his stage presence. He had not properly practiced for months aside from the sudden preparation he needed for this exact stage. His agility was lacking, his precision was sloppy at best, and the strenuous workout routines left him bulkier than usual. His balance was disrupted.

Regardless of his altered physical ability, the crowd was simply happy to see him participating in idol life once more, and the cheers reverberated off of the studio walls. As quickly as the stage arrived, the lights faded with his final pose, and the tears intermingled with his sweat. The day was momentous for his fans, but it also signified a reintegration into society that was coupled with reopened wounds. Clumped hair stuck to his forehead, abundant with the pain and dedication put into his performance. Little could have prepared him for the ethereal peripheral of his past just as he was preparing to step onto the stage; the image clung to his thoughts throughout the entirety of the performance, thereby adding an element of emotional gravity to an already heart-wrenching performance.

Following the performance, an interior deliberation pulled at Minseok's heart strings; he could either pretend that he overlooked the younger male from his past, or he could confront him in the hopes of mending two broken hearts. Ultimately, he stood outside the shared dressing room and cleared his throat before his knuckles rapped against the polished ivory door. His pride had been swallowed along with his dignity- he had only spent a few minutes in his dressing room cleaning up after his performance because he feared that Eunki would have left immediately after his own performance.

@kim minseok ❜ ˣᶦᵘᵐᶦⁿ eunki had left his stage with grace and aplomb- and hands that trembled as he waved to the small section of his fans in the crowd. he had nearly blinded himself in the midst of dancing, light gleaming off the sheen of sweat on his cheeks, filling up the bottom of his vision. god, he swore, it's just sweat. he should have paid more attention. he should have known performances would align someday. but he was blissfully unaware. his manager had greeted him with a smile and a towel with which eunki dried the sweat. just this once, he was happy that she was his employee, and not his gon hyung who would know full well why his eyes were wet even after he dabbed away the sweat.

she was the one who accompanied him backstage, offering a chubby-cheeked smile and praise for his performance. she was the one who saw his hands shake as he entered the partitioned dressing room amid the animated chatter of some rookie group he couldn't identify. and she was the one who heard his gasping inhale as he wiped the running stage makeup from his face with those unsteady hands. "i'm fine," he whispered as he dragged gel mascara over his lid, blotted it with the tip of his ring finger, and tried to bring life back to his pallid complexion.

"i'm still emceeing on show up tomorrow, right?" he asked as he brushed peachy rouge across the apples of his own cheeks and stared only at his reflection. there was no reason the young soloist should have felt the way he did now. the boisterous rookies were suddenly cheering on the sunbaes being broadcast on the two monitors hanging at either corner of the dressing room. eunki craned his long neck, face tilted toward the screen like he was bathing in the glow of a sun he dare not look at directly. two years should have been enough. he rolled the sleeves of his shirt up his slim forearms and rose from his seat, not caring about the splotch of black kohl he smudged onto his own cuff or the protests of his manager as she was left to bundle together his own cosmetics and pack his bags to leave. he didn't care that he looked like a petulant child. it was better than the alternative.

@kim sihyeon ❜ ᵖᵘᵖᵖᵉʳ ᵒ ʷ ᵒ the letter her wrote lay crumpled beneath his shoe after it escaped his grip and his mind entirely for his main centre of attention had fallen to the girl he loved. like usual, seeing sih made his hands clammy, his stomach tangle it itself into knots and his heart beat so loud it was the only thing he could here, but unlike usual, it wasn't from affection, infatuation or pure adoration that once coursed his veins but it was from the fear and the guilt that seeped into his bloodstream. sihyeon wasn't the type to randomly get angry for no reason and even if she did lose her temper she'd never lose her temper so publicly unless she knew. it wasn't completely just sihyeon's strength that pushed him into the wall but the sheer regret that washed over him had quite a strong impact too. an endless play of scenarios that could occur flashed through jeno's mind and before putting any thought into it he figured the best thing to do was to calm her down, his fingers reaching to wrap around her wrists, his brows furrowed and his jaw clenched. "baby, listen to me. i can explain." he gets out through gritted teeth.

@lee jeno ❜ ᵐᵃᵍᶦᶜ ᵐᵉᵒʷ betrayal, it was a shadow that draped over her figure, downcast eyes unable to look at anywhere else but the floor. she had to bite back the tears that threaten to line her glitter-rimmed eyes, all dolled up for the show only to lose her spark with one five minute conversation she had. 'how could he?' it kept repeating over and over in her head, fingers furiously furling and unfurling upon her sides as one spark ignited the flame of anger. there was the sound of footsteps that caught her off guard, hastily sniffling to recompose herself expecting to greet a backstage director, only for her eyes to fall upon the culprit, himself. it saddened her, confusingly, how badly she wanted to wipe off the smile on his face when she once could fall on her knees just to see it once more. how badly she wanted to run up to him, only to discreetly squeeze his hand as they past by. how badly she wanted to rid of the pain that was practically tearing her inside. and before she was able to restrain herself, it was that pain itself that triggered her body to move on its own accord, jolting out of her seat to take long, dreading strides towards her boyfriend. and instead of meeting him with a kiss (something she'd do when no one was around) her hands flew up to his chest to grant him a hard shove back. "how could you do this to me? how could you lie?!"

@kim sihyeon ❜ ᵖᵘᵖᵖᵉʳ ᵒ ʷ ᵒ jeno was fixing his mic when he saw sih's figure at the end of the hall way, his lips immediately twitching up into a smile as his blood rushes to his cheek. the lass somehow always managed to accelerate his heart beat and send his stomach cartwheeling down mount everest which was unfair, for her, because jeno wasn't the best boyfriend but he tried– trying his best would be going too far because there was most definitely things he could've tried better on but he did what he could do considering his constraints as a young man with emotions. his fingers slip into his front pockets, fishing for the note he folded so neatly, the white paper embellished with his lover's name and a small heart. he knew she'd like the heart. as the distance between them narrowed, his eyes dart around to see if anyone was paying attention as he twiddles the thin piece of paper between his fingers, getting ready to slip it into sih's hand. the letter didn't consist of much, it simply read "to my favourite, i love you. until this evening, jeno." short and sweet.
yang yena ❜ 4 years ago
@chwe hansol ❜ ᵛᵉʳⁿᵒⁿ music shows were always exciting for yena. despite being constantly tired having to wake up so early to prepare for the shows, it was always an exhilarating feeling being on stage. however, the down time between rehearsals and the actual live broadcast was always long. recently she had taken to escaping to the rooftops to get some air and as a result, yena's mind had been drifting off towards thinking about her childhood, as much as she didn't want her train of thought to move that direction. she supposed that she had a generally happy home life, but there was one thing that had always nagged her and upset her when she was little. when she first became an idol, she never really put much thought into it. not until she debuted, not until seventeen debuted a couple of months after april did and she saw the face of someone she never thought she would see again. however, even though her brain wanted to go and theorize some more about why he hadn't contacted her after so long, she forced it out of her mind again and started to try and refocus herself. she started to remind herself of all the reasons she loved preforming on stage. if anything could distract, it would be her role as an idol. it was something she took seriously after all, it was her dream.

humming their latest title song under her breath, yena headed down the stairs back to her group's room to get her makeup touched up again. perhaps it was fate, or just a mere coincidence, but turning the corner to open the door to enter the hallway was something that let a small gasp escape her lips.

[] im sorry for how long this took, and for how much i rambled. hopefully this is usable ;;

@kim chungha ❜ Clearing his throat, he glanced down at the ground and released a prolonged sigh as a means to attempt to alleviate his nerves before he answered her inquiry. "Well...honestly there isn't much aside from practice and eventual perfection, but I will tell you something that I've learned: The key to being confident and brave is first pretending. Visualize what you want and yearn it into existence." He offered her a reassuring smile with his small tidbit of advice and adjusted his cards in his hands. "It's not fool-proof, but it's helped me over the years." The countdown was about to begin. He closed his eyes and began to imagine the best result of his near-future--one in which he nailed everything, and he impressed the audience--and Chungha.

@lee seokmin ❜ ᵈᵏ Chungha played with the ends of her hair, a nervous habit she'd developed over the years. It was her first time hosting a music show, and she didn't want to disappoint her company and team that had helped her get the gig. To add onto this, she was paired with someone she really respected in the industry, lead vocalist of seventeen, Lee Seokmin. At the sound of his voice, she turned to him with a small grin, rocking on her feet gently. "I hope so. A bit nervous, but who wouldn't be?" she said with a small laugh, biting down on her lip gently. "How about you? How are you feeling? You're a bit more experienced than me in the industry so...any tips?"

@kim chungha ❜ Anxiety coursed through the male's veins. Sweat collected at his temples, and hesitation pooled in his throat. He only got nervous under two circumstances: new experiences and pretty girls-- both of which would prove to be evident in his current duties. Thankfully, after today, his anxiety would cease and he could relax. Hopefully, he wouldn't make a fool of himself. Pacing in his dressing room, he went over his lines one final time before being notified of needing to move to his place stage-side. Standing next to his co-host, he turned slightly to face her, and he offered her a warm, signature smile. "Are you ready for this?" He inquired, tilting his head slightly.

[] feel free to adjust length as you see fit. i just started off small.
