⋰ archery fields

archery fields.
just on the outside of the training ground arena, you will find the archery fields. the practise area is large and provides different kinds of obstacles such as hills, trees, wind tunnels, etc. for archers to practise in.

for beginners, there is a flat expanse of grass with a row of targets set up; make sure you don't walk in front of somebodys drawn bow.

Yuqi scratched her head as she hummed, grinned cheekily before wiggling her shoulders cutely. "That, I am not sure. I used to bicker with my teachers a lot." Sticking her tongue out playfully, she gasped at her word as she asked, "Is there not many of them who like archery?" She blinked and turned to another demigod who came by, chuckling quietly as she watched Minghao shooed him away. Wow, what a cool buddy coach, she taught to herself. After the first try, Yuqi looked away with embarrassment, but that was actually one of the better ones since it still stayed on the board, unable to look at her instructor in case she saw the shock expression or unbelievable expression on her face. "What??" Her head turned to her in shock when she said 'impressive.' Yuqi was sure that was anything but that but wow, she fell in love with her for being so kind to her. "Uhm, mine was a sword," She said honestly, but unsure of the results since she obviously loved archery more than swinging a sword.

@p. chaeyoung [sorry for the late reply orz]
The faint squeeze on his shoulder made Jaehyun pay more attention to the woman that was speaking behind him, what was she doing? A normal person would’ve taken shelter… away from this horrifying storm and safe from the spine-chilling clap of thunder and threatening lightning bolts. ‘help me?’ he reiterated low enough for the other not to hear it. Why would she be helping him? Right, he made a dumb excuse about a pen when in reality he’s just frozen in fear brought by a tragic past when he was still a kid. “y-you don’t have to” alas, he got the strength to speak up despite his lips trembling due to them being drenched by the cold raindrops and personal anxiety.

As another of lightning grazes the dark sky, Jaehyun instinctively took the latter’s arm and pulled her close to his chest. It’s like a scene from one of those cheesy romantic dramas people watch on their telly’s when they have nothing else to do on a Friday night. Regardless of how petrified the demigod was, it’s like his body still knew when and what to do when danger arises, after the nth thunder, he quickly pulled away from the damp hug, eyes falling back on the hand which was securely holding the pen he claimed got lost. “huh, you’re right, I think I saw it and picked it up when – you weren’t looking”

Jaehyun swallowed thickly, was his lie too obvious? Nonetheless, he nodded his head in agreement and started to walk first but not too far from the other camper. He was so immersed in his own dilemma that he overlooked the fear that his newfound companion had exhibited all throughout their ordeal. But he didn’t forget how to be a gentleman, for the time being at least. “you should’ve just saved yourself- I mean went back first, now you’re all wet because of me”

@s. seungwan "It is totally fine! I didn't notice you too so I guess that makes us even," She chuckles at the cute move, thinking to herself that her buddy coach is so cute. She was going to have so much fun in combat classes now, she thought. "Well, we should focus on our enemies on the field right? So we can know their weakness and hit right into it." She spoke like she knew everything, but that was just one of the lines she remembered from their coach. Somehow miraculously, she remembered words than the moves that her body remembered, which was the exact opposite for her during college. But she would still like to think she had a lot of space for improvement, and she would still master skills one day if she could practice even more. "Ah, Minghao." She grinned as she recited it like a catchphrase, before following up to the lady and stood sideways at the vacant row, raising her arm with the bow and equipping an arrow to it. Perhaps to show how bad she was, she pulled the arrow backwards on the string and let go. The arrow pierced through the air and finally landed on the target, stabbing into the rim of the target that did not even make it into the 5-point mark.

@s. seungwan Yuqi took a deep breath and followed her 'teacher'. Truth to be told, she was really excited to learn from the lady and totally forgot about the class she was supposed to take at the moment. Getting too caught up but still learning combat skills should have her forgiven, no? She could barely spare a thought about it. Her feet jumped in exciting steps as she followed the other to the field, one of which she used to practice her archery at. "I have come here for about a year and a half-" Yuqi tried to recall, and nodded again when her calculation was precise as her statement. "And yes, I am new to this," Yuqi scratched her nape. "Ah! My name is Yuqi, sorry for that." She chuckled sheepishly, totally embarrassed by the fact that she didn't introduce herself at first. "How should I call you?"
s. yuqi 3 years ago
@s. seungwan She pursed her lips into a thin line, not sure of what was waiting for her after she had told the lady about the fact that she was a beginner. Was she surprised, or was she lowkey sighing at how tough it would be teaching her in the future? No matter what was it, Yuqi told herself she should put her all into studying so that the girl did not regret in teaching her. Yes! She could do it, it was not something academic, and she used to be good at sports, so that could probably connect the dots for her. "O-Okay!" Her voice was exciting, thrilled to be honest, as she went closer to the latter and took the bow and arrows, familiar tools but not mastered yet. She quietly wiped off the sweat on her palms and looked at her, grinning as she was way ready to start her lessons now.

@s. seungwan Yuqi grins excitingly as she watches the blonde girl in front of her, already thrown away thoughts of verifying if the demigod is the Minghao she is looking for. Among the sleepy crowd, she gives the girl all her attention as her eyes follow her hands reaching for the bows, taking it obediently when she hands it to her. The female definitely seems way more experienced and used to the firearms than her, Yuqi gulps as she settles her mind to learn from her. "Uhm...I am a beginner." Yuqi admits, even though she has been here for a while her body is not entirely accepting combat mode especially when she is already used to the 'normal' world she lives, instead of being aware of mystical creatures coming for them and always in battle. "And I am not sure what would be a better arrow for a beginner," Her cheeks flush red in embarrassment.

@x. minghao Dove nodded "I can understand that. Believe it or not as a kid I was afraid of the dark. That was before my powers manifested and my sight adapted so I was able to see clearly. I had been afraid of what I couldnt see, but now that I can see in the dark it doesnt frighten me anymore." She shields her eyes as the sun moves out from behind a cloud and shines directly on them "downside is I am little more sensitive to direct sun lught" she gives a small chuckle and takes a pair of sunglasses out of her pocket slipping them on to protect her eyes.
x. minghao ( H. 2/8 - 25/8 ) [A] 3 years ago
@c. dove "Definitely did in that moment," Minghao agreed easily, letting his weapon return to its keychain form, "Mm, no probably not. I think only Hades and Nyx kids can do that, maybe Hecate too, but I'm not entirely sure, haha. Not the biggest fan of the dark myself." It was true. The son of Apollo much preferred the warm embrace of the daytime, the sun comforting as if his father was watching over him. Of course, the sun god had other children to look after and godly duties so it was unlikely Hao was being watched over, but he felt comforted nonetheless. Having grown up with the camp as his family, he couldn't really resent the gods. He would have liked to have been claimed sooner, but he also understood for some gods or goddesses it was hard to pinpoint who exactly was your kid.

@s. seungwan As Yuqi asks around, she suddenly hears a sentence that is aside from the yawning and 'no's, that suddenly sounds so outstanding in the crowd for her. She looks around while trying to find the source, finally setting down eyes on a girl who is waving at her with a wide grin. Oh great, that is probably the most friendly greeting she ever had in the morning, and she is certain it is calling out for her. Making her way to the girl who is about her height, she grins back at her as a friendly gesture. "Yes I am! Do you know him?" After many rounds of asking, Yuqi wants to be sure that this girl at least heard of this name. It would be a bit impossible for a name to be not known from everyone in camp. Or perhaps, this girl knows him as a close friend, she could certainly take her to her buddy coach!
c. dove 3 years ago
@x. minghao Dove gave a nervous chuckle "Guess being a daughter of Nyx came in handy" she shrugged "manipulating shadows into a shield isnt something every kid around here can do"
She sighed again and shook her head "no excuse for not paying attention though. I'm just glad it didnt screw up a big shot for you"
Dove looked at the young man next to her and smiled shyly. She hadnt had many interactions with Minghao. She knew him of course as after a few years of on and off training with people you tend to know who they are. But she wasnt in the same social circle, partially due to her own inverted personality and not being very good with groups. She was good with people one on one, but groups intimidated her.

@c. dove The son of Apollo offered a soft smile as he ruffled his chestnut locks, a relieved laugh sounding from his lips when she confirmed that she was fine. The last thing he wanted was to be responsible for accidentally sending someone to the infirmary. He had a big enough track record with that douchebag in the Ares cabin, Kyle, that he often got into fist fights with. Gods, he hated that kid, and for more than one reason.

"Ah, no worries about the shot. I wasn't practicing anything important, just wasting time between schedules. You really should pay attention when you're walking around, though. I doubt you'll be as lucky next time," he joked, rubbing at the back of his neck before leaning a little against his bow, "I'm okay, yeah, haha. Not the first time I've nearly hit someone, though I can't say they were as lucky as you this time around."

@s. seungwan Yuqi kicks the blanket to the floor once the alarm clock goes off. She is never a determined person in waking up and after all this time staying in camp and having early lessons, she has tested her way out of coffee, multiple alarm clocks, sibling morning calls, and the best way out of everything is kicking off her blanket. Without the warmth embracing her body, she finds herself getting into the real world the quickest with chilly morning breeze brushing across her skin. But besides that, she has been waiting for today. It is combat lesson again and she is told that a buddy coach has been assigned to her, who will be helping her out during future combat lessons too. Obviously Yuqi prefers the buddy coach than their original coach who is actually nice, but somehow at demonstrating moves for her. She really needs someone who can do that for her, and can patiently communicate with her. Quickly freshening up, she heads to the archery field before her siblings and tries to recall the name of her buddy coach. What was it again, mMing something. Mingqi? Mingruo? Mingh....ao. Ah, yes, Minghao. After arriving at the field, she looks around the place with all the sleepy demigods, wondering how is she going to ask around to find her coach. With a deep breath, she starts to walk up to random people. "Sorry, are you Minghao?" "Do you know who is Minghao?" "Anyone who knows Minghao?"

@p. chaeyoung it wasn't probably the most ideal place to laze around and get some sketches down; different arrows flew around, some harmless, others with sharp ends that could definitely pass through any animal or human that gets in its way; but he swears that the scenery practically begged him to draw it- it looked so peaceful, the cool breeze was enough to lull anyone to sleep- leaves and branches fo trees swayed as if dancing to entertain him.

Jaehyun was almost half-way through his sketch that could be a potential display on his own art gallery when he noticed a slight change of the wind. Everything happened so fast, the sky began to go dark and slowly let out small drops of rain which gradually became heavy and as soon as he stood up to take shelter, a loud bang ringed on both of his ears which rendered him immobile, and to make it much worse, a bolt of angry lightning passed in front of him. it was probably a mile away but it was so bright he started to imagine getting hit by one. lips quivering, limbs subtly shaking, the son of hades stood there like a statue, helpless and terrified.

the motionless man suddenly jolted in surprise once he felt a warm object brush against his soaked shoulder, he started to panic, he didn't want anyone to find out about this and based on the latter's voice, there's no way a girl would see him scared less. "hmm, y-yeah I.. I just- I was just looking for my hmm, pen it's a very limited one so" he made an excuse even though he was tightly clutching at the said "limited edition pen". "you should uhmm, go first I'll be .. okay, yeah"
c. dove 3 years ago
@x. minghao Dove looked up when she heard movement and gave a shy wave to the approaching Minghao.
"Hey, yeah I'm fine. Sorry I ruined your shot. I want paying attention" she gave a nervous chuckle and tucked her hair back behind her ear. For once really glad she could turn shadows into a solid shield cause otherwise that would have REALLY hurt. "You ok? I'm sure that gave you quite a fright" she asked gently

(No worries at all :) I am a quality over quantity gal ^-^ )

@c. dove // sure! sorry for the late reply and if it's a bit short

The son of Apollo had sought out the archery fields during one of his few breaks from training, the field otherwise empty besides himself. It truly allowed him to think or not think if he chose, preferring to focus on the familiar weight of his bow in his hands and his quiver attached to his back. His mind for once wasn't clouded with questions and worries regarding what he had seen in his dreams the night prior, so he could allow himself to breathe easy for once, clearing his mind of anything that wasn't the target at the end of the field.

Minghao had sank a couple arrows into the center ring of the target already, despite having only been there a few moments. His next arrow was notched and released before he could think about it really, and his heart nearly stopped as the form of another camper had walked right into his section of the fields. He knew he wouldn't be able to send off another arrow fast enough, so he shouted, "Hey watch-"

Thankfully she carried a shield with her, and the archer could release the breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. He had to take a moment to himself to recover from that mini heart attack he just experienced, moving to collect his things before heading in the direction the other had. "Hey, Dove, right? Are you alright? I didn't see you at all."
c. dove 3 years ago
@x. minghao Dove sighed as she walked through the camp. She hadn't been sleeping well worrying about her father's health. She hadnt been to visit him in a while and his last letter talked about needing to visit the doctors and having more regular chest infections.
Dove was so absorbed in her thoughts that she hadnt realised she was walking right through the archery field, at least not until she needed to block an arrow using her shadow shield. Blinking surprised Dove finally took in where she was and scurried back out of the firing range. "Sorry Minghao" she called over as she moved to sit down in the spectator seats.
Dove knew if Minghao had seen her stepping out he wouldnt have fired, but chances were she got in the way after he took the shot. Probably ruining an epic shot too. "Really sorry" she groaned as she held her head in her hands.

(Hope its ok I tagged you. Just had a thought and went with it.)
