⋰ bath house

bath house.
bathing is a large part of ancient roman culture and society, a practise that is still continued into camp jupiter today.

separated into two sections(mens only and womens only) the roman demigods set to building this large structure to retain some of their heritage while at camp halfblood. these tiled pools pools are filled with warm salt water and you can find bath salts, soaps, and various types of hair care in exposed shelving around the outer edges.

aesthetics: one two three
*all remaining roman bathhouses are, unfortunately, a thing of the past; please use your imagination to fill in the gaps that the above images might not satisfy.

@m. lalisa A noise jerked Soyeon out of her daydream, slipping off of the stone bench to sink into the water til it covered her nose(was this a poor attempt to hide? Maybe. She’d never admit it though). It was a camper, a half-blood one at that. Soyeon wrinkled her nose looking at the raven-haired girls dirty shoes on the tiles. It was clear that this was a visit out of curiosity, judging from how she glanced around the room, the curiosity and dictate evident on her face though Soyeon got a sense of awe from her. “Because you can’t bathe in the ocean.” Soyeon called out, a slight crease in her brow, rising up out of the water. She made her way over to the edge of the pool, ripples in the water splashing over the edge as she crossed her arms across cool tiling, staring up at the girl.

“There’s some herbs and powders that we mix into the water, works kind of like chlorine but for people.”

@j. soyeon "What the ?" Was muttered under the breath of a very confused daughter of Poseidon as she gawks upon the building that towers over her. Behind a set of dark, wispy bangs are furrowed brows, disturbed by the new addition that obnoxiously stands out like a sore thumb. It's very clearly Roman, its architecture distinctly curved and more ornate in comparison to the straighter, clean-cut lines of Greek design. Aquamarine spheres take in the entirety of the building, and although she wrinkles her nose in distaste, curiosity gets the best of her. So she pulls herself off of the plot of soil she occupied for what seemed like one too many minutes, to walk inside with absolutely no regard for whatever rules may be in place. Should Romans be the only ones allowed to enter the structure, she didn't care. She had to see whatever the hell is in there, anyway. And she did. The inside was as equally exquisite as the outside, if not more beautiful. The expanse of the interior is occupied by a large pool, with stone flooring surrounding its perimeter. The same columns displayed on the outside is translated inside, and above, is a large sunroof that allowed bright rays of sunlight into the building. It was perhaps the most beautifully interesting thing she has laid her eyes upon in a while, and yet she retained her contempt for it. "Why would they build a pool when we literally have an ocean right outside of camp?" She mumbles under her breath, paying no mind to whoever is occupying the room with her.

[] short and sweet so it can open to everyone!

"wowza.."

Soyeon stepped gingerly into the pool room, spinning in a circle slowly to take in the grandeur of the building; damn, they'd done a good job of building the bath house, it was almost as nice as the one back at Camp Jupiter. Unfortunately, they hadn't been able to find a piece of land big enough to build two separate bathing pools so, until that could happen, the bath was nothing more than an over sized hot tub. "Nothing bad about that though" She muttered to herself, dropping her towel onto a low bench. Thank the Gods that their tents were provided with those ugly orange swimsuits that had a pegasus emblazoned on it because she was totally ready to take a dip into warm, /shallow/ water over the cold, mariana trench deep Island Sound. She scooped her blonde hair up into a messy bun and stepped into the water, humming a sweet sigh of content as the warm water surrounded her. She couldn't help the slight downturn of her lips as she floated to sit on one of the stone benches carved into the pool. Soyeon was homesick, there was no doubt about it and unlike a severed limb on the battlefield, this wasn't an ailment that she could heal.
