sun and moon
this is a private roleplay between kun and xiao zhan

@kun ₂ Golden eyes watched with awe as the walls started glowing. Yet they were the wrong color. Why would the moon god be purple and not blue? "Wait! Hey! It's not pity." Zhan quickly said and snatched his hand back as if stung. He was right about something being wrong.

"It's the sun god! I-I've been feeling something off and looking at your shrine I'm correct." The urge to bust the doors down was monumental and he wasn't sure what to do with the urge. He stepped back and watched the clouds start to roll towards them. Zhan knew he would be using almost all of his own abilities protecting the village if anything were to happen.

In a moment of careful consideration; Zhan groaned and moved towards again. "Fine, fine! I'll leave." He called through the door once again. "Just know that I'll be back at high noon." When he was at his strongest. His hand hovered over the wood for just a second before he was leaving quickly. Already hearing the prayers start to flood in.

Due to the drain in energy, Zhan rested heavily once in his own shrine. This caused a late morning but it just meant the people were more than happy to see the sun once again. He laid in a field that was surrounded in violets; soaking up the sunlight like a warm cat. Mind racing with the thoughts of last night and how the upset the moon god sounded.

While high noon rolled around Zhan found himself at the other god's shrine. Taking everything in the sun. The overgrown plants and rocky path. "Moon god! It's me. Will you let me in today?" He asked after knocking on the sealed doors. Robes glittering even in the shade of the shrine. "I don't know what's wrong but I do know that I can help!" Trying once again before glancing around briefly. "Or have you forgotten that I'm the patron of medicine? Are you hurt?"

@zhan Kun wasn't very fond of visitors, especially after he had successfully driven most villagers away from offering anything at the foot of the shrine. The night had been silent until he heard footsteps creeping past his door, beyond the walls of which he sealed himself in away from the world. Whoever it was, he couldn't sense them nor did he want to risk stepping outside in order to see.

Instead, he stayed completely still, cross-legged in the middle of the room. He closed his eyes, hoping that if he didn't respond, the visitor would eventually leave. But unfortunately for him, they never did, whoever they were. He could still hear them, pacing around his shrine as if they had questions they wanted to ask, a sort of desperation in the way they walked and touched the walls as if asking to speak with him. Kun would have entertained his guests, but he had no trust left in him to do so.

"Leave," he whispered to himself, but his voice boomed like thunder outside the shrine, nimbus clouds rapidly crowding above with the threat of a storm, fierce with lightning. "The moon wants to be alone," the voice rumbled, the tainted blue of the shrine walls glowing purple with running poison. "I don't need your pity."

Kun was getting a growing headache, his power too weak to cast any sort of aggression. All he could do was rely on warning, and hope that whoever was waiting at his door wouldn't push him any further lest he wanted the god to completely lose himself and ask the tides of the sea to carry them away.

"Last warning."

@kun ₂ When everything was in balance, the sun god flourished. Loving the way humans created, healed, and lived. Giving out prayers for others as well as themselves. Most worshippers praying for the good of their village.

There wasn't anything that the sun god admired more.

Zhan used to enjoy playing music and exploring amongst the people. Usually, catching brief attention due to the unnatural glow his skin provided in sunlight. If you weren't looking for his presence then you never noticed him. Even though one would hear soft melodies play in the distance, creating a flow of bright energy around them. Or a kind stranger that would go through the village and healing those in need. Even transitioning from day to night was done with a flourish of beaming smiles and curious eyes.

Things were changed overnight. Zhan could feel something shift in him and while he rarely had a chance to speak to the moon god, he felt like something was off. There was dimness to the moon itself. The oceans were unruly and prayers were gaining in numbers. It worried Zhan about the balance that was suppose to be there. Obviously something wasn't right but he didn't have a clue on why.

Prayers about being protected from raging waters were louder. Zhan had decided to try and figure out what was going on. It started with asking some prophets of his and the seers what was happening, yet they were just as confused as well. He then told them to tell the village that if they light 4 candles, for every corner of the house, they shall be protected through the storms.

Hot days were growing shorter and shorter due to Zhan's lack of rest. He had a wonderful idea just moments after sitting under the warm rays. Pretend to be mortal and talk to villagers themselves. Yet it only landed him with more questions and rumors about the moon god. Which didn't sit right with him at all. The moon god had always been distant but if he wanted to cause harm then things would be worst.

It was night by the time Zhan had ended up across the village, at a different point of the island. From here, he could vaguely see the glow that his own shrine gave. Candles lit all around. He knew he needed to rest at some point but couldn't in town. So, transforming back into a familiar form– instead of the unassuming mortal –he went through an steadily over growing path. Gold satin robes fluttering around Zhan as moved up the path some more. It looked like an abandoned shrine at the end and he frowned as there was some upkeep but not enough.

"Hello?" Zhan called out after trying the large doors. They didn't budge. Gently dragging his fingers over the side of the building, taking it in. Using celestial energy to make his hand glow for light; moving to search for identification. There were markings on the door that belonged to the moon god, opposite to his own. Why was the god's shrine locked up? Instead of using his abilities to open the doors, Zhan pressed a hand against them. "Moon God? Are you... are you in there?" Long hair spilling over his shoulder as he leaned against the wood.

@zhan The moon god had always been such a quiet deity. An advocate of peace, a master of solitude.

He was seldom seen around the village, though a number of humble farmers and passing merchants always had stories to tell of the ethereal lunar god. They would often encounter him wandering the meadows amongst night-blooming flowers, his silky white robe flowing in the direction of the wind. Most of the time, his expressions were solemn. The god's smiles were a treasure in its own right, for not many have witnessed it nor were privileged enough to see. When caught in the midst of happiness, the deity immediately flees, leaving behind a flurry of glowing blue petals in the air.

But nowadays, not even the village guards can manage to get a glimpse of him. Though, it would have been better that way, because seeing the moon god around would suddenly bring strong winds and fierce storms at night and cause the tides to crawl further past the rock pools where they should usually be. The god no longer wandered the meadows and the village offerings have now been continuously rejected in a matter of blue fire raining from the sky. Confusion dawned upon the innocents, for they knew nothing. They couldn't understand the sudden wrath, the sudden, unrelenting fury of such a gentle and quiet creature.

Kun never really meant any harm, but he was suffering. Although he was, with absolutely no doubt, very angry. However, he didn't know who to direct his rage to. He never saw the culprits who attacked his shrine and poisoned the energy source that resided in the heart of his earthly home. The pain had been so unbearable, a vibrant purple running through his veins constantly. It hurt to the point of insanity, and in a fit of rage, he took it out on the village with stormy nights and angry waves. He refused to receive anything from them in fear that it were poisoned, his trust in them completely shattered ever since then.

But guilt came quickly for the god. After all he was, by a nature, a very warm-hearted deity. So to keep himself from harming his people, he locked himself in his own shrine, shedding cold tears into his poison.
