On Saturday, January 16th, the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry found themselves in a horrible predicament. During, what was supposed to be, a pleasant Quidditch match, the school found themselves to be under siege of a Dementor attack.
Dementors have been wandering aimlessly for food since they were released from Azkaban in the events the Wizarding War that took place just over twenty years ago. It is well-known that the Dementors have not been associated with the Ministry during the devastating events of the war, on the circumstances that their alliances flipped, and they have become far too dangerous to handle. These creatures are dark by nature, and should not be taken lightlly.
One may think that it was a mere coincidence, as these creatures were reportedly seen not too far from the school just weeks prior. Though unlikely to be a coincidence, wishful thinking hopes that it possibly was just so, as an excitable event such as a Quidditch match would certainly draw soul devourers like the Dementors to the school.
The school has reported that there was no significant damage with no casualties — just many very shaken students and professors, to which we hope that that's all the damage they have done. With ex-auror Ronald Weasley on their faculty, the school believes that an event such as this will be very unlikely to come again.

A body was found by the popular London wizarding pub, The Leaky Cauldron, on January 30th around 9:25 p.m. A muggle found the body in the back alley behind, what they call, a dumpster and had reported to the Muggle Authorities.
Strangely, the body is some odd weeks old with the face barely recognizable from rot, but it is clear the unidentified male is of wizard kind, as observed by the attire found on their person.
The cause of death is unknown, but having one too many to drink has been ruled out, as there is no alcohol in the body’s system. The muggle Prime Minister and the Ministry of Magic speculates that the cause is likely that of magic, as there were no obvious marks of physical violence. The Ministry has yet to confirm any strange findings.
The Minister for Magic, Hermione Granger-Weasley, has apparently devised a plan to help make both the muggle and magic community safe for all. She refused to give too much detail as it is not yet set in stone, but only assured that, "The Ministry officials are working hard to keep the communities safe, and that there is nothing to worry about".
Hopefully their plan includes information on how they will handle the incident that happened last month, when Magic had been exposed to the world.
Yesterday afternoon, Ministry officials were called to a scene of mayhem as rogue wizards attempted to maim muggles in Trafalgar Square, London. The perpetrators were apprehended by officials and placed into protective custody until Wizengamot can gather for trial. No names have been released at this current time.
Four muggles were killed in the crossfire with many more injured on the sidelines. Officials have stated that the event has failed to be contained, and is too widespread to place memory charms on all witnesses. What the muggles call a ‘YouTube’ has gone ‘viral’ with muggles around the world witnessing the tragic event. As of this morning, world leaders have been in conference with each other on how to handle the situation.
At this current time, we can assume that magic has, indeed, been revealed to the muggle world (see pg. 58 for more!).
Why these rogue wizards have committed crimes against muggles is still unknown.

Dementors have been sighted at Godric’s Hollow this past Sunday.
There are speculations that the large number of people attending the evening mass at the village’s small church have lured them to that area.
With the holiday just around the corner, and the Christmas spirit filling the hearts of the villagers, it is to no surprise that the Dementors paid a visit, the Ministry says.
Ministry officials report that this is the largest group of dementors that have been seen together in quite some time, with a total of six that could be counted for. Thus, despite there having no reports of attacks on the villagers due to the quick response by the Ministry, the sightings were indeed enough to terrorize the residents. “You’d think that we could have one year to enjoy, but them hooded hooligans have to ‘bout ruin everything,” states Richie Brown, a resident of Godric’s Hollow.
Thankfully, the muggles within the village were not aware of these soul non-beings. Officials are currently investigating nearby villages to check for more sightings.
Let us hope that this random frenzy will not happen again.
ministry of magic officials have requested a full inquiry after the body of draco malfoy was discovered on his manor grounds, means of death currently unknown. healers called to the scene were unable to revive malfoy, who had last been seen hosting a gala for alchemical research and translation. george pennyworth, a healer at the scene, has stated that they are working on discovering the means of his death.
isadore remington, head investigator of the mysterious case, confirmed that [the authorties] “have evidence to believe that foul play is at hand” and this case may be related to the recent murder of [matilda tabott]”, a witch found dead in her brighton cottage. you may find information regarding the case in the daily prophet’s previous issue page 56.

reports of a mass cluster of acromuntulas breaking out in clovelly, a village in north great britain, have been registered with the prophet.
other clusters include the south of ireland and reports as far south as nice, france, have been reported.
the origins of these creatures have not yet been confirmed as authorities and zoologists are baffled by their large appearance. currently, they are making efforts at capturing the remaining spiders. the residents of clovelly are instructed “to stay calm” when/if crossing paths with a spider, and note their natural aversion to light. authorties urge civilians to report any and all sightings.
acromantulas are larger than regular arachnids that are native to various parts of the european continent, but have not been found so far up north in previous history.
