Kim Minjung

19 years young

Pageant Queen turned Clothing Store cashier

Biual │ Taken │ Genderfluid

Biography: Pretending is easy. After years of doing it the thunderous thumping of his heart begins to sound like a question in the back of his mind, a query to the reality that he lived through. 'Acting' was what his mother called it. 'Beautiful' was what she called him, after tying the ribbon at the back of the dress. 'My little star'. Taemin never went to school. His mother kept him safe at home, shielded from the public eye and guarded from prying neighbours. He lived 18 years of his life in someone else's shoes. Stilettos, to be specific. He became his parent's beacon of hope by bringing them money and pride. He became the doll on the stage, prettier than most of the other girls and stealing all the prizes to fuel his parent's greedy desires. He knew it was wrong to lie. But the world had become a stage for him whether in heels or not. He learned to put on make up and wear smiles and docile attitudes in order to give the world what it wanted. He begins liking the way his feet curves to meet the arch of stilettos and how his hair falls over his shoulders in cascades of hazel brown. But somewhere along the way, he had had enough. Nobody knew that his parents did drugs in the empty garage. Nobody knew why the car was always parked outside, and certainly nobody knew how it suddenly drove into garage door, crushing the two people inside against the wall. It was easy. Pretending is easy.

Why he's here: Taemin saw Inncognito as the bright exit sign when everything was on fire. Police investigations were carried out and they kept tossing around the possibilities, suspects and motives, reasons and doubts. He heard his name on the list. So he ran for the exit. He liked the name Minjung; it's a name he's been wearing for years and it's been cemented into his identity for a while now. It sticks. He wraps himself up in dresses and sneakers, bubblegum words, all the tiny pieces of Kim Minjung, the Pageant Queen, and it sticks like glitter. It's not that hard to pretend, not really. He's wrapped himself up in so many lies that it might as well be the truth of his being. Wearing the guise of 'victim' can be easy, especially if you're a girl. He's just a victim; Taemin must be protected; 'Kim Minjung has vicious competitors, we need to whisk her away somewhere safe until we find out who the murderer is'. Glitter looks beautiful in the light, and if he stays in it for long enough, it looks he like he's on fire.

Personality: Sweet, endearing and innocent is what he mostly is. Mostly. Being under the supervision of his mother had carved out most of his persona into that of what can be considered traditionally feminine. But even if he was kept indoors and cloaked in secrecy for a majority of his life, Taemin is not oblivious to what depths the people of this world could reach. Take his mother for example: she was a woman who dressed her son into a girl and made him prance around to get money. The girls he'd been around during the pageants were all starved and practically walking stick figures, with all eyes on the prize. In act of despairing greed and desperation, people would go to great lengths to get what they want. And with time and thought Taemin slowly sharpened the blade of his mind as his hatred for his parents grew. Taemin likes to plan things carefully and with precision, especially for things that he wanted. It worked with his parents. But now that his ultimate goal is done he is at a loss with what to do. So he fills his time with what he does best: 'prancing around'. Taemin is genderfluid: he likes to think that he's more of a boy on some days on more of a girl on others. (Update:03/03/17) Taemin had never fallen in love before. The first time he did, it was to a man whom he wanted to give his ity to. Lost he was to the passionate throngs of and . But before the deed could be written, everything came shattering down into a million pieces and his love slipped through his fingers in flakes of rubble. The dust of everything that could be. Taemin was lied to. And the man fled, leaving bitter regret in the crevices of his footprints. Lost and alone, Taemin now wanders through life with more than just a sharpened will. He carries silence on his back and cynicism under his tongue.
