nanase is, by no means, the kind of person people like at first impression – quite the opposite, really. she carries herself with an air of superiority and speaks to most people as though they’re below her, has a hard time accepting that not everything is about her, acts like she doesn’t care about anyone or anything, and is just, generally, an all around spoiled brat. or at least, that’s what she presents herself as, most of the time.

truthfully, underneath the facade of an impossible princess, nishino nanase is a sweet girl who genuinely cares about everyone around her, despite how bad she is at showing it and how much she tries to pretend like she doesn’t care at all. she sees the good in people, and even when she doesn’t, she believes they can change for the better. it’s because of this underlying naivety and kindness that people have, in the past, taken advantage of the girl, and it was with time that she learned that it’s simply better to push people away, act like she doesn't care, than to allow herself to get hurt over and over again.

born the youngest of three siblings, and of them the only female, it’s no wonder that nanase was spoiled since her birth. she was born, as one would say, with a silver spoon in , her family powerful enough to change the world and wealthy enough to buy anything in it. whatever she wanted, she received, no questions asked. but young nanase had no affinity for money or material possessions, she was a sweet, kind girl who loved to help others and saw the world through rose-colored glasses.

and what do people do when met with such a kind, gentle soul who happens to be heiress to an absurd amount of money and assets? they take advantage of it, of course. one after another, boys and girls pretending to be friends only to throw her aside once their requests and desires were met. she grew to expect it from everyone, but the one person she trusted not to be like them, was a particular girl whose name she’d rather forget. nanase was head over heels in love with her, she would’ve done anything for her without second thought – but was still, in the end, tossed aside when being her pretty, rich arm candy grew boring.
