kim taehyung was born into misfortune. a happy family of three was what it should have been, but as all stories are written, that was exactly what it couldn't be. taehyung was supposed to be the only one. taekwon was the mistake. caring for the two threw their father into nightmares that never ended, that followed him through all his waking hours. with his wife gone, he'd cracked. it was taekwon's fault, he told himself incessantly, it was taekwon's existence that had caused everything. so he had to get rid of the mistake. feeling a strange affection for taehyung, his father began the boy's career training as soon as he could stand on two feet, knowing that it would be of use to him. taehyung spent his childhood unknowingly dancing with the devil. taekwon spent his playing with toy cars. his father was both heaven and hell for taehyung, brutal during training but seemingly affectionate otherwise. the boy chose to perceive his doting attitude as love. little did he know that he was only a piece in his father's games. he grew increasingly distant from taekwon as his father refused to let them see each other within the home, but they felt no animosity. rather, faint memories lingered in their minds, and they hoped that one day, they could make up for all of the lost time. the day came, but not in the way they had imagined. their father had finally brought them together, but taehyung was left at a loss for words, the cold feeling of a gun in his hand and the stern expression of his father burned into his memory. there was no way taehyung would kill taekwon, but when his father dealt his heaviest blow to taehyung's head, there was nothing he could do to defend taekwon anymore. slowly succumbing to unconsciousness, he felt his father lift his own hand, and the last thing he heard was the shot ringing through the room. when he woke, both his father and taekwon were gone, but there was a slip of paper nearby. he couldn't have really killed taekwon ... right?

having felt betrayed by his father in the worst way possible, taehyung learned to separate himself from his emotions. he is cold and composed on the outside, and most people will never see more to him than that. he isn't fond of trusting other people unless he's in a situation where there is no better option, and in the arena, he will often turn to deceit in order to survive. he can be manipulative, having fairly decent control over his real emotions and faking others if necessary. however, he tends to allow some snide remarks to slip when fighting, a habit he probably picked up from his father, and so he's been called the sassy career. that's his exterior. taehyung absolutely detests the idea of betrayal, and he truthfully wants little more than to have someone whom he can trust wholeheartedly. originally a rather cheerful and optimistic character, his experiences turned him into a less lively person overall, but if the right person came along, he could probably find reason to smile again. that's his interior. his personality on the outside was formed to guard everything he felt on the inside, and although paradoxical, it's the only thing that makes him feel secure. hating his own past, he doesn't want any traces of his experiences to show through to people he has no relationship with, and he only shows his exterior when he's fighting, knowing that his softer personality would never survive in that situation. taehyung maintains control over his emotions and therefore manages not to lose himself when playing between his two extremes. he sometimes feels as if he's acting out a different person on his exterior, but it makes no difference to him. after all, everything's just a game.

taehyung specializes mainly in brute force and agility, but he is sometimes quick to act before thinking through his choices. that being said, he is better with close-range combat, and he prefers to attack with stealth. he works best with heavy-weight weaponry, although his second weapon of choice would be a simple combat knife. he is generally lacking in the field of long distance fighting, but HE IS FAIRLY PERCEPTIVE WHEN UNDERSTANDING HIS SITUATION, helping him to deal with opponents even at a far range. he isn't necessarily the best at strategy, but he doesn't act solely on a whim either. taehyung gets uncomfortable around guns because of his past, and this also introduces a weakness when it comes to mechanical weapons of any sort. he's also bad around large fires.
