I BECOME COLD AND DISTANCE TOWARDS PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW.
Yifan was born and grew up without knowing much about his mother and father. He was taken to an orphanage where he was raised until he turned sixteen, then he left and attempted to live on his own. Much of his childhood was difficult since he didn't know his parents, which caused many other children his age to dislike him. At the age of nine he discovered who his father was and in that, his life changed again. Yifan struggled in school because of his dyslexia despite his knowledge of three languages. In an attempt to keep his dyslexia under control, he read, reflecting on his multilingual ability.
Two years after being claimed as the son of Hephaestus, things became clear, but not the things that Yifan had questions for. He was unsure why it had to be him of all people. Yet the reasons for his dyslexia probalems and inability to always stay attentive and finally answered. The answer to why he had always been drawn to tinkering and often drawn to heat was solved. Within the short time that his father actually spoke to him, a message was delivered: follow the path to Camp Half Blood. At first he had been adamant about going his own path and the said adamant behavior continued up until he was finally a teenager. Hopefully now Yifan would finally fit in, without the hassle of always having to hide his past entirely.
To this day he has limited knowledge of his parents. Although he has had contact with his father before, they are not close and his mother's existence is still unknown to him. Yifan is usually distant toward people he isn't well acquainted with and avoids confrontation. Often to keep himself occupied, Yifan will tinker with a few nuts and bolts that he keeps in his pocket traditionally to keep himself calm. When he was twelve he was diagnosed with both ADHD and SAD. Despite being given medicine for it, he has a refusal for taking it.
Yifan, now, has been part of the camp for a short amount of time. He prefers to fight using long range tactics so he has always chosen archery—a simple bow and arrow—as his means of defense and offense. Unlike his father who fights with a hammer, he prefers lighter weapons that are easier to use, such as swords in close range sparring. Yifan has always thought very strategically, and if he has the time, will rely on mechanical traps.
