this weather, this temperature, this passing wind, will I remember it? 
Youngjae is adept at close-range combat and readily uses any weapon he finds, conventional or otherwise. He is intelligent and highly resourceful. The boy can scheme like a mastermind, even in the most disadvantageous of situations to turn things back into his favor. Being from District 9 specialized in medicine, Youngjae has an in-depth knowledge of plants and herbs. With the availability of the right combinations, he can form lethal concoctions that can send a person into shock or even death immediately upon contact. The boy can also create antidotes and medicines if required. He is also extremely cautious by nature and it can be almost impossible to deceive him. On the contrary, he can lie with a completely straight face and without any remorse whatsoever. After all, Youngjae is on nobody's side but his own. 
Physically, Youngjae moves slower than an average boy his age and more often than not, he has to rely on skill and experience to win fights. Sometimes he resorts to hiding to escape dangerous situations. He is short-sighted  and fares badly when given long-ranged weapons such as crossbows or arrows.
For melee combat, Youngjae uses a hunting dagger. He also keeps a store of small throwing blades laced with natural poisons.

Standoff-ish and sarcastic to a perfection, when he speaks Youngjae's remarks and actions are usually interpreted as malicious. In addition, he has drastic mood swings and will stay silent for long periods just beng locked inside his head. Due to that, the boy doesn't have many friends.  To him, that's okay though - he prefers being exclusive than to fake friendliness. To those that are willing to be patient with him and eventually gain his trust, he won't be able to stop talking and cracking jokes to them. These people will become most precious to him and be his grounding factor.
Youngjae grew up in a modest family of four; together with his father, mother, and elder brother. Being in  a family line historically known for being skilled in medicine, the family was fairly well-off compared to the  others. The boy had a good childhood and temperament and was loved very much by his family members, most of all by his brother Youngwon to whom he was especially close. 
Things were peaceful until the day gentle Youngwon was selected to become a tribute in a previous Hunger Games. It tore his family apart as they watched their beloved Youngwon being murdered in a grisly manner  by a man twice his size, live on TV. His parents became depressed and Youngjae developed severe moodswings.  On a crazed whim, Youngjae volunteered as a tribute without his parents' knowledge in order to avenge his brother's wasted death in the horrific game and practiced endlessly for it, perfecting his knowledge in all aspects of strategizing and fighting. He secretly plans to sabotage the Hunger Games system to the best of his abilities - even if it costs him his life.
