FAQ.
Read through this page and the rules before asking your question. Questions asked elsewhere (e.g. the OOC chat) and not directly addressed to the General Manager will not be answered.
Where/when is this roleplay set?
We are set in Jeju Island, Korea, in the summer of 2024. Consider the hotel a newly opened branch i.e. less than a month old.
What occupations do you allow for employees?
Receptionists, porters/bellhops, housekeepers, bartenders, waiters, lounge singers, spa therapists, lifeguards—basically any job you can find in a five-star resort hotel. We also allow managerial positions (restaurant manager, etc.) on a first come first serve basis, as long as they are “below” the general hotel manager. There’s no requirement to connect with the general manager as they are an admin character, but feel free to make them an NPC in your threads!
Can employees mingle with guests and vice versa?
Absolutely. Just be aware that such interactions are not up to the hotel’s behavioral standards and employees are expected to maintain their professionalism on the clock IC. You are free to do as you will with that for plotting purposes.
Can I get a character who is neither a guest nor employee (e.g. a temporary visitor)?
While these characters do exist in the original series, we don’t allow them here as to not overcomplicate things.
Can you help me find a hotel roommate if I’m a guest?
You may post an open call for roommates the same way you would for connections, submit a character skeleton if you have a certain kind of character in mind, or do it informally through the OOC chat. The General Manager will assist you if needed, but it is not their responsibility to find you such connections.
Are our characters in the hotel/Jeju for the entire week?
Not necessarily, although we encourage everyone to be present (IC) as much as they can to allow plotting flexibility. If a character leaves before the end date, the RP generally considers them to have checked out early/resigned from their position, but ultimately it’s up to you, the mun, to decide and discuss this with your roleplaying partner(s). Similarly, if you’re joining us after the first week, it doesn’t mean your character arrived at the hotel later in the week—you can definitely make it so that your character’s been here since day 1!
Is there a possibility of the roleplay being open after the seven weeks are up?
You may still continue your threads after the roleplay’s closure, but we will not be carrying out admin duties anymore (accepting reservations / applications, taking requests, etc.). However, we will continue to monitor the roleplay as long as there is still activity. We are also open to the possibility of running a “new season” if there’s enough demand for it, so let us know and stay tuned!
Do our threads have to take place within the IC week? What if my character’s been here for longer?
That’s fine, as long as it’s before the Sunday of the IC week when the dead body is discovered in the hotel.
Speaking of which, what’s the deal with the dead body?
:)
A!
