After the adoption of democracy and the death of the last king of Joseon, South Korea has never again had a royal family. That is, until 2014 when the Korean people voted to reimplement the monarchy that their country once had.
Since the fall of the royal family, the aristocratic noble clans have progressed in wealth, political power, and most of all, influence among the people. Now that the throne is open, they plan to get nothing less than the crown.
The lesser clans refuse to let this happen. If one of the ruthless aristocratic families manage to become royalty, it means the start to a tyranny-an end to whatever rights that citizens hold.
