Breaking The Record for High Jump (ft. Minhyuk)

Sooo if you don't watch the Idol Olympics every year (or biyearly in some cases)... You should ._.

Ahem. anyway. I was rather late in watching the 2014 Idol Olympics but nevertheless I watched it as is tradition. Especially since athletics is one of the most intruiging things to me when it comes to idols (and height is also a big one).

High jump (along side 100m dash, or 70m depending on the venue) is always one of the biggest and thrilling events.

Minho held the record at 173cm for quite sometime. Until last year, Niel broke his record at 174cm. Now this is all without a jumpboard as we know Minho and a lot of other idols and people can jump far more than 200cm with a jumpboard like on Dream Team.

I had high expectations for Minhyuk since his display at both of last years competition was splendid. Although he jumped a high of 170cm, many of his jumps leading up to that showed that he passed the bar with a huge, emphasis huge, gap. Not to mention he is also a very fast idol, placing well in the dashes as well.

So when BIGSTAR's Sunghak (he's an adorable squish tbh OwO) and he both surpassed Niel's record... alsdkfajdlla. The turning point was at 180cm, which they both were able to sucessfuly jump. Sunghak however couldn't jump 183cm(thats 6 feet) ;A; But Minhyuk made a successful jump earning him the gold medal. He was offered to jump again to set a higher record and he took it. He jumped for 185cm and the crowd went wild. With his successful jump he not only jumped 10cm more than his own height(given that he may be shorter than his profile height /shot), he also beat the previous year's record by 11cm.  Not to mention Minhyuk was one of the shortest idols to be in the high jump competition (if not the shortest).

After he made his 185cm jump he was so excited that he made some absolutely perf flips as he ran around being happy. x3

I don't want to put a label on Minhyuk as this but... I kinda feel like Minhyuk is the Minho or Dongjun when it comes to Idols in the athletic world. Minho and Dongjun were always winning or placing well in Idol Olympics or Dream Team, or anything that had to do with sports or athletics. But, Dongjun and Minho have been participating less in these sorts of things especially with all these new idols there are tons that are placing well. Minhyuk did well in High Jump, Dashes, and Soccer. This year he won 3 gold medals (in the previously mentioned areas), and a silver metal in the mixed relay. He was the MVP due to that.

His first appearance in the Idol Olympics 2013, he won 2 gold medals (70m dash, and 70m hurdles) and a bronze metal(high jump). His second appearance on Idol Olympics for the 2012 chuseok special he won a gold medal (high jump) and a silver medal (100m dash).

This is more of sidenote but I don't think anyone is going to win against the team that Noh Jihoon is on when it comes to soccer. Ever since he joined (the past two events, the one in 2013, and recent one this year), his team has always won. I'm saying this because it was noted that Noh Jihoon was prominent soccer player as a goalkeeper and naturally he is goalkeeper everytime and he hardly lets anything past him. Sometimes his teammates are faced against better soccer-playing individuals, but it makes little difference since no one can make a goal against him.
