There's no logic. You barely take off any bacteria, you contaminate your entire sink and increase your chances of cross contamination. If you wash your hands and utensils afterwards it's not the same thing because the percentage of bacteria on those surfaces isn't even 1/16 to what is on the meat when you're washing it and spreading the bacteria. Not to mention that when you cook your meat, the heat kills off the bacteria, so why would you clean it? Unless you have slimy from pulling out gizzards on your turkey or poultry it shouldn't be washed OTL I have /never/ understood that when I see people washing their meat in cooking shows and IRL. Even the USDA advises against it like why are you willingly increasing your chances to cross contamination by making your meat "cleaner" before you cook it?

My family cleans the meat usually with lemon and clean away the access blood and tear away the fat since the meat is usually fresh lol
