Coming from a pureblood family, he'd grown to love everything there is about magic. Growing up, Daehyun had lived in a small, predominantly Muggle-populated town, so he grew to have many nonmagical friends. He grew up especially loving Quidditch, as his mother had lent him her old broom to practice on. He wasn't allowed to use his magic before going to school, but even so he'd often played little harmless pranks on his Muggle friends.
He's very open and friendly, especially to other students, but watch out-- if you get too close to him, he might talk your ear off. In school he shows a strong proficiency for Charms and Transfiguration, but he's completely useless in Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts; he doesn't have the patience for memorizing recipes, and he's sure that he'll never need to use magic to defend himself anyway. His favorite subjects are Care of Magical Creatures and Flight training.
It's really no secret that he's incredibly naive; he truly believes the best of everyone he meets. It doesn't matter to him what house a person's in. However, because of his open nature, he tends to tell a person exactly what he thinks of them. That's why sometimes he'll find himself in trouble with some of his classmates. If you're behaving unkindly to someone, he'll tell you off for it, even if you're an intimidating person. It's not that he's brave, he's just sort of stupid about that kind of thing.

You've come upon the scene just as the student and their Slytherin friends are starting to overpower Daehyun, who's retained precious little in terms of DAtDA. What can you do?
