Growing up in Brooklyn, New York was quite possibly the very reason why she is how she is. That is -- aside from the fact that she's a wolf. Caity's parents had lived a fruitful life in solis before she was born, in fact that is where her mother and father met. Only, when Caity's mom was pregnant there was a rift between the Luna and Solis packs more than there was today, which resulted in a targeted hit that tragically changed Tai's family forever. Caityln's father had died, and upon wanting to escape from such violence Cai's mom fled to New York to raise her child, only she was met with hardship there as well.

Without a father, the Wen matriarch had to work while little Caitlyn was watched over by her Aunt, a fellow Solis pack member who had broke away from her omega servitude to live in the real world. She too hadn't been blessed by the human gods, and was forced to prowl the streets at night just to make ends meet. During the day she watched Caitlyn, and at night when Cai's mom returned from the hospital she worked at as a nurse, she went outside to walk the block.

Being distant from her mother was the hardest thing Caitlyn had to endure. She never learned how to hone her instincts, or the itches she acquired during the heat cycle. Hell, she was told about her ancestry but to her it was all a joke. Until she had accidentally transformed into a wolf. She had made it with the wrong crowd, a street gang that got her into trouble often but provided her with the sense of belonging she had never gotten before. During another one of their heists, the youngest member who was attending their first robbery had been shot. In anger Caity let out her inner wolf, and in realization that everything her mother had said to her as a child was true, she fled to the Solis pack to learn a little more about who she truly was. Little did she know the Solis pack was the complete opposite of how she had lived in Brooklyn.
