yukhei died at the tender age of 19 in a revolution, fighting for his country as an inexperienced soldier. he was decapitated by the merciless enemy, and it was by no means a quick and easy death - he was taken to their base camp and tortured for information he wouldn't give until they decided to cut off his head slowly and painfully. but for some reason, he didn't die - instead, he was reincarnated as the headless horseman, a harbinger of death in different cultures. after two centuries of mindlessly riding his horse around the world to take human lives, it suddenly occurred to yukhei that he didn't have to do his job for the rest of eternity. he could live normally. and so he adapted to the times, trading his trusty horse for a sleek motorcycle and entering motocross contests and championships. to reduce the predictable reactions of fear that humans would have upon seeing a headless rider, yukhei stitched his head onto his neck and wore full body suits, scarves, or turtlenecks to mask his appearance. he's quite famous among people that follow the sport, both for his good looks and his risky maneuvers on the off-road circuits. he's somewhat of a daredevil when it comes to his motorcycle, because after all, he doesn't need to fear death when all he wants is for his existence as dullahan to end.

after some time living in the human world, yukhei decided to move to magnolia springs, taking up residence in the quaint little town so he could live among creatures that were as strange as the headless horseman, and not as short-lived as the humans he'd encountered. whenever needed, yukhei decided he would just travel for the sake of his job, often leaving magnolia springs for a few weeks or days to participate in the motocross competitions that he's rather fond of. as long as he doesn't have to spend too much time with the humans, he can appreciate their existence.

yukhei may not be very likeable - being a sign of death, he hasn't exactly been talking or spending time with any other human or supernatural being. this makes him quite irritable, brash, blunt, and basically a typical . he can be quite flirty too, a side effect of not having had any contact with anyone for the past two centuries. however, he's rather closed off, and is the type to push someone away if he believes that they are getting too close. he's far from friendly, but he has a good heart and is willing to help anyone in need, which is the human side of him that has not died. deep inside, he's just looking for someone to be his friend, but it might be a while before they get through that tough exterior of his.

despite his seemingly confident temperament, yukhei is rather insecure about his body. who wouldn't be, in his position? despite literally having a head he could lose easily (suprisingly, he never has), his body is littered in scars from battle that had not disappeared once he'd woken up without his head on his shoulders. his body works differently, as well, and after nearly three centuries on this earth, he still hasn't been able to figure out how it works completely and finds himself quite disgusting. he can't drink, because the liquid would seep out through his stitches, and eating proves no effect as the food simply gets stuck in his neck. however, the rest of his body works completely fine, as if his head was still attached. his head can move as well, as if it has a body of its own, but he prefers not to divulge the secrets of his detached head - it can be far too disgusting for some people to Hear. animals also seem to hate him, for the simple fact that he's dead. he often gets attacked by them. yukhei loves physical Contact, doing the most he Can to touch and be touched by the people around Him, as it's one of the few feelings he has that can help him feel less like a dead man doomed to curse others to meet their ends for the rest of eternity.
