Meng meiqi was born in the darker part of the city where ion, drugs, and several syndicates rule。she was an orphan。her father left while meiqi was still inside her mother's womb while her mother died in a car accident a few months after giving birth。meiqi became one of the adopted kids by a certain chinese syndicate. this particular syndicate deals with "cleaning up" after a political party, which includes murdering people who opposed them, bribing witnesses and clearing evidences。being one of the youngest members, she was assigned to the murdering assignments。despite being a kid used as a tool for murder, the older members of the syndicate still treated her fairly well。kids like her were still allowed to play and go to school like normal kids。at age 17, meiqi decided that she had enough of her lifestyle, knowing full well how wrong things are but she did not really feel like betraying her "family"。so without informing any authorities, she simply gathered enough money to escape and live her own life。at age 20, she finally managed to leave her country and get into a university in south korea。

TLDR: she used to be part of a syndicate but she escaped and is now studying as a freshman majoring in computer science.

she acts pretty shy but acts rather friendly once someone approaches her. she always wear a seemingly innocent smile. however, she lies a lot, out of habit and really, anyone in her shoes will lie about herself too. she is fluent in korean and english because they were taught different languages as kids but meiqi pretends to be dumb about them.
