dejun is a middle child. he has an older brother that inherits the family fortune, a younger sister that is doted upon, and he... is simply just the middle child. his older brother got everything because he's older than dejun, he's going to inherit the family's assets, carry on their family's image into the next generation, and was mom's favorite. his younger sister got everything because she's the youngest, the only girl, and daddy's favorite little princess. dejun... was often neglected growing up because both of his parents figured the other was going to take care of him, only to find out that neither of them had done anything for him. dejun grew up used to being neglected. instead of relying on his parents to nurture him, he turned to books to teach him all the important things in life. books taught dejun how to walk, talk, read, and breathe. books are the only friends that dejun has because he grew up conditioned to be quiet and blend into the shadows. when his siblings would do something bad, it would all somehow end up getting blamed on him if he so much as breathed in the same room. he would get lectured for not stopping his older brother from bullying other kids and he'd get lectured for not fighting his younger sister's boyfriends, he even got grounded once for "letting his sister sneak out of the house" when in reality, he had no idea where she was and she ended up getting off scot-free once she flashed her big puppy eyes to daddy. but it didn't matter anyway because dejun didn't really do much but stay in his room and read for hours on end. he'd read and imagine that he lived in another universe. somewhere where his parents remembered his birthday and where he had friends who also remembered his birthday. 

as somebody who loves literature, it was inevitable for dejun to choose to study the subject during college, but unfortunately, he wasn't able to focus on it because his parents figured it'd be a waste of their money if he went to college just to read like he always did, so he compromised with a law major that is at least compatible with literature on some levels. his passion at the end of the day lies in books and he even writes his own stories sometimes, too. (lmao friendfiction- okno.) 

dejun is quiet and shy. it's hard for him to approach people and maintain friendships because he likes to stay in his own little world. growing up, he didn't really have any friends, so it's a little hard to socialize. however, there's a lot of personality beneath dejun's shy exterior that even he's yet to discover - perhaps, even afraid to discover. he's spent his entire life trying to be as passive and nonconfrontational as possible and he might be afraid of who he is at the very core of his psyche.
