Section oo1 : history / about

tsukishima kei initially had what was seen as a perfect family. with loving parents and an older brother who he admired, kei's inital childhood years were filled with happiness. he was expressive, bright eyed, and while he was snarky, he didn't shy away from his emotions.

but happiness did not seem to last in the tsukishima family and one day in elementary school, his father left, never to return for the rest of kei's life. he had no idea where he had gone and his mother never told him anything. naturally, it broke his heart. from then on, his older brother became somewhat of a father figure to kei. kei admired him greatly and aspired to grow up to be just like him. but his brother would disappoint him too, twisting truths and lies together as the pressure would grow too great for him to handle it. 

 

yet again, kei was disappointed.

 

he withdrew into his shell, closing off his emotions. pain wasn't something he wanted to take anymore. he had lost two people he so desperately admired. he would not give anyone the chance to hurt him like that again, and to top it off, his mother finally told him what happened to his father. he'd cheated and started a new family. a family that wasn't them. the truth simply made kei burrow even further into his shell. there was really one person who he trusted.

high school was a turning point for him however. he picked up the sport that had sullied his relationship with his brother, fully expecting to not care about it. instead, he found a sport that he loved, a renewed relationship with his brother, and a team that--as much as kei hated to admit, he felt close to. kei was beginning to feel better and better about himself, about life, about volleyball. he began to express himself more.

and then it was yet again ripped from his hands.

he was never the curious type. but he couldn't help but want to explore the mysterious light in the middle of the night. he wasn't rational, it shouldn't exist. and kei wanted to know how it was possible that it did.

instead he found himself in another world. a world similar but different from his own. for the first time, even the rational tsukishima kei cracked. panic brimmed at the edges of his mind and bubbled up through his stomach. he had just finished high school. there was no way he could make it on his own. 

yet somehow, he did.

luckily, he had some money in his pockets, and luckily his bank account still worked. he was able to find a small apartment to live in. Then, he managed to find a part time job as a bartender rather quickly. his barbed tongue had no use there, but his height and his looks did. gradually he learned the ropes. that helped him pay the bills.

and university?

well, kei had one skill to his advantage. his volleyball. he landed a full time scholarship, playing for a tokyo university as a middle blocker. he chose to major in physics, in hopes that one day, it might help him find the way back home. 

since he was isekai'd, he'd been here for almost 4 years now. 22 years old and he still ached for his family, for his friends. but there was a little hope. he had met akaashi, an old friend who had calmed him down in the midst of his panic. to know someone here was reassuring.

somehow, he would make his way through this world.
