hris was always drawn to man's best friend, from an early age his family, as far as he could remember, constantly had a four legged friend around to make the harder days that bit more bearable. Or... perhaps he tells himself there was a family somewhere, but the only comfort he ever truly found was in the strays he would pick up and bring home to live a half life with him.

 

Perhaps that's why he began volunteering at local animal shelters while he was still in school, seeing something of himself in the neglected animals just looking for a home, a forever home, somewhere to put his boundless loyalty and blind forgiveness.

 

Although chan finished university with some "pointless" degree in herbology, he's been working as a kennel carer since, and while the pay means he'll never be a millionaire, he'd tell you the job is far more rewarding than that. looking after people and animals is second nature to chris and there are few things that bring him more joy than putting his effort and energy into something that gives back without question.

 

as for how he ended up in moirai city, he could have sworn he was chasing one of the dogs under his care around the play pen, when suddenly he found himself in a not so familiar field, surrounded by flowers as his only company.

 

while chris is aware he should be more concerned about how he suddenly ended up in this new city, he is more concerned, and distracted, by the terrible aching feeling in his chest that he's missing something, someone, and has been since the very beginning.

 

currently he's trying to make ends meet as he's still working as a kennel worker, although more recently he's begun moonlighting as an exotic dancer at the local night club. it pays better than he would like to admit, and while he has his fair share of... deplorable clients, it's easier to handle behind the mask he hides behind nightly.

IMPLY PUT, CHRIS IS YOUR TYPICAL GOOD GUY NEXT DOOR. though HE HAS A SMILE BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN, A LAUGH PRETTIER THAN LEAVES DANCING IN AUTUMN, HE LACKS ENTIRELY IN LOVING HIMSELF. FOR ALL THE KIND DEEDS HE HAS DONE, CHAN FEELS AS THOUGH HE DESERVES THE ODDLY LONELY EARLY MORNINGS WHEN HE CANT SLEEP, OR THE CHILL OF AN ABSENT TOUCH HE ISN'T QUITE SURE WHERE HE'S MEANT TO find.

 

His cheery disposition easily hides these demons of his, and without really intending to be, Chan has become a person who is hard to get past his high walls. perhaps more devastating than feeling as if you're getting nowhere with a friendship, chris is the opposite. one might find themselves feeling comfortable and close to the man, drawn in by his naturally comforting self, only to realise when they're apart that they don't really know much about chris or what lurks behinds his smiles.

 

despite this, chan is fun, quirky and a genuine joy to be around. but that's the nature of people who are taken from time and time again, right? you learn what to give people without question, handing over pieces of yourself until there's nothing left.
