when she transformed into a butterfly, the caterpillars spoke not of her beauty, but of her weirdness. they wanted her to change back into what she had always been.

but she had wings.

lee minjun was born in late march, when the flowers were beginning to bloom. he was a joy to be around, even as a child: the little giggles that bubbled from his lips were enough to bring smiles to his family's faces. minjun was the son of a well known actress and her loving husband, and he was the absolute apple of his mother's eye. she loved and cherised him more than anything in the world. he would never have to want for anything.

even from such a young age, minjun proved to be talented in similar areas as his mother. he was more artistic, taking interst in acting, first starting off as a little boy in school earning positions in school plays, and even managing to score a few minor roles in movies as a child actor. this, of course, pleased his mother, and his parents were nothing short of supportive. in fact, they worked to help encourage their son in his interests.

however, as he got older, it was proven that some things are just nearly impossible to work around. minjun, though talented, was a very clumsy being. it was almost as if calamity and general destruction was attracted to him. there were countless times where things just seemed to go wrong: broken furniture and decorations at home, injured limbs, sudden and spontaneous mishaps. it evolved, however, as he got older. and it soon began to take a toll on his life outside of home.

people stopped allowing minjun into auditions for plays and movie roles once they heard the stories. no one wanted to risk their sets being destroyed in any sort of way, he was turned away, time after time, and as he got older, it began to take a toll on him. was he not good enough? even despite his talent and his family, people knew of him and his general clumsy natire. he would never live that one incident down, even if it happened when he was a young teen.

upon graduating high school, minjun begged his mother for help. he wanted a fresh start, something, anything to make him feel like he could do something. despite her insisting that he was a wonderful person, inside and out, minjun wouldn't have it. he wanted to do something, be someone. and he couldnt really be, not when he made an embarrassment of himself.

finally, she gave in. his parents agreed to send their son out to america, in hopes of being able to help him on his journey of self discovery and growth in his talents. with his family's connections, he was able to secure a place in bellevue apartments in hollywood, california, with the agreement that he would pay half of the rent for staying there. so of course, he agreed, on one condition: he was able to have an english name to help him start fresh.

the second his feet touched american soil, minjun felt at peace. but he was no longer the clumsy boy from south korea (or at least he told himself that). he was caspian lee, a boy with dreams of making it big, with charming good looks and a knack for being the funniest person in the room (he still made a fool out of himself). if only he could keep his clumsiness in check.

daydreaming — star/cloud gazing — iced americano — late night drives — watching the sunset (but not the sunrise) — reading — anything involving the sea and stars — not having to work (he does enjoy his jobs though)

early mornings — people who talk too fast — assumptions — being interrupted — too cold or too hot weather — asking too many questions — only being liked for his looks

dancing (has been doing so since he was a child) — acting (see previous note) — singing (just a pasttime he happens to be good at) — some crafts

rejection — going home one day without anything to show for it — actually being not good enough

to make it big as an actor in hollywood — to shed the idea that he's too airheaded and clumsy to be any good — to amount to something worthy in his family's eyes (he doesnt really believe he's all that great despite his parents loving him no matter what) — to bring honor to his family instead of being an embarrassment
