a mystical creature who appeared to protect ten during his darkest time in childhood. ageless and wise, he’s in charge of who fronts and who takes the back seat within the system. sophisticated with a hint of arrogance, cheshire is a mysterious being who never leaks information more than he should. every action decided was made in favour for the system. any outsiders helped are merely pawns in the grand scheme to cheshire.

the only time ten shapeshifts is when he switches. he cannot shapeshift for his own selfish purposes.

each alter are their own individual. as such, they cannot share powers across one another. which means, the abilities belonging to his alters (ex: cheshire’s intangibility) cannot be used by him. his alters also cannot share each other’s abilities.

cheshire can pass through physical objects. he can also make his body intangible if a person shoots, stabs or make attempts to physically harm him. this ability is passive and can only be used by cheshire.

an active ability that allows cheshire to float in the air. only cheshire can use this ability. he can only levitate himself and cannot levitate objects.

as intangibility is a power only used by cheshire, any harm can be done onto the body if cheshire is not fronting. cheshire can also be affected by wounds if they exist before he takes the front. existing injuries can hinder his movements and concentration, hence affecting the usage of his abilities.

cheshire’s ability to levitate means he can only reach a certain height. he prefers to keep to ground level or in close proximity of a human body. any higher than that and he can experience side effects of vertigo.

being both a magical creature and a nurturing alter, clarity is able to heal the sick and injured. he usually resorts to herbs and ointments when treating others since he can manifest his energy in small quantities with that method. if a person suffers from a heavy fever or sustains a bigger wound, clarity has to use his raw energy to heal them.

as the healer in the system, clarity is able to regenerate the body if it is sick or wounded. just like his healing ability, the more severe the illness or injury, the more energy he takes out to regenerate.

healing takes up a lot of clarity’s energy. pressuring the alter to heal non-stop can force a switch on him. he starts burning up if he doesn’t take rest after using his powers.

since clarity uses his energy to heal others, individuals with life-threatening wounds cannot be saved. he has the potential to, but it can risk his life which in turn can damage the system. cheshire won’t allow clarity to self-destruct and put all the alters in danger just because someone else is dying.

these butterflies came from within man in red, spilling out of his mouth. reminiscent to the fictional hanahaki disease, except they are butterflies instead of flowers. and, instead of killing the host, they are controlled by the host. white and glowing, man in red can command these butterflies to do his bidding. a single bite from one such insect and the individual shall be infected with an incurable disease. depending on the person’s immune system, it can take weeks before they perish. if they’re lucky, they’ll receive a swift death; if not, they’ll suffer days of anguish with tormenting symptoms before dying eventually.

－ ❛ ᴡᴇᴀᴋɴᴇss ᴏɴᴇ : the carriers
since the infection comes from the butterflies, it is easy to avoid. as long as the person targeted does not get bitten, they are safe. a layer of clothing is enough to hinder the creature — as long as there’s no skin showing. not only that, as insects, these butterflies are fragile. one can easily squash them and they will be dead before they can infect you.

these butterflies are only active for as long as man in red is conscious. if the system undergoes a force switch, these butterflies will drop dead like the flick of a light switch.
－ ❛ ᴡᴇᴀᴋɴᴇss ᴛʜʀᴇᴇ : origin
as these butterflies came from within man in red, there is a limit to how much he can produce. a full course meal is enough to summon a swarm of such butterflies. however, if the body is running on low sustenance, these butterflies may instead manifest from the body itself. either through blood or a piece of an organ. if the stomach is empty, summoning a single butterfly can be detrimental to the body.

not long after ten was born, his mother abandoned the family. his father was an alcoholic. if the man wasn’t passed out on the couch, he would be beating the children. there was ten and his elder brother. seeing as to how incapable the father was, the brother took it upon himself to start working and support the family.

repeated beatings from the father led to ten’s first dissociation at the age of five. cheshire cat was a mystical creature who can become intangible. whenever the father roughed ten up, cheshire would front and use his ability to protect the body. the father was usually too drunk to notice he was just kicking and punching air. it soon became a norm for cheshire to front whenever ten’s father was conscious and drunk.

just as the abuse got worse for ten, his brother could not escape the treatment either. affected by the constant beating from their father, the brother snapped and took out his stress on ten. however, unlike their father who beat them up, the brother resorted to a different tactic. he touched ten inappropriately, starting off with casual pats on the or ‘accidental’ brush to his . it was when his brother started to him when ten dissociated, and man in red was created.

it did not take long for the molestation to escalate to ual assault. man in red endured it all, forced to find pleasure in the appalling act. the beatings continued and topped with the ual exploitation, ten dissociated once more. clarity was developed in that moment, possessing the ability to self-regenerate. after being roughed up by both the father and the brother, clarity would front and slowly heal the body, comforting the system in his solitude.

the system was eight when the two worlds collided. heroes they had never seen before appeared and fought alongside existing heroes to prevail over evil. ten thought perhaps with more heroes now, he could be saved. he thought since the heroes of his world had more available hands, he would finally be whisked away from his hellish life. so, he waited — no one came.

in that same year, man in red discovered his abilities. driven by pure curiosity, man in red coughed up a single infectious butterfly and commanded it to bite the unconscious father. the father was fine the first two days. on the third day, the father was attacked by high fever and severe coughs. the symptoms worsened to bloodshot eyes and nosebleeds by the fifth day, and then ended in the father’s death after a week passed.

although freed from his violent father, ten did not escape his brother’s clutches. the ual exploitation never ceased, even with their father’s passing. man in red did not kill the brother like he did the father. the alter had grown used to the ual abuse and even came to yearn it. one could say he was groomed to desire the brother’s touch.

when ten was thirteen, he was severely bullied in school. his peers would beat him up in a quiet and secluded area. ten endured the torment for two weeks before experiencing another dissociation. tide was developed to take on the bullies, fighting back when they roughen the system up. realising the system could not rely on supernatural means to solve problems anymore, tide became the first human alter after a decade.

the snap occurred when ten was fourteen years old. the trauma of watching familiar faces around him disappearing caused his brain to shut down. unable to comprehend the incident, ten dissociated. in came mr inference, quick-witted with an intelligence rivalling the fictional character, sherlock holmes. mr inference thrived to understand the truth and reason behind the occurrence.

there was an incident when ten turned sixteen. his classmates invited him to a nightclub party. however, as the night progressed, a fire broke out. ten was trapped in the burning building and had to wait for the firefighters to save him. the event led him to dissociate, developing spring hand to pick him back up and continue life.
