personality

Like most Striettall, Rhydian prefers the company of animals over people. For him, people are too complex and exhaust him. They aren't straight forward with their intentions like an animal, so how can he trust them? Also, if his animal companion doesn't like you, it's probably for a good reason and he will automatically be resistant to getting close. But, in spite of that, he is usually very cordial when he has no other choice but to interact. Since he depends on people returning to him for his mechanic business, he has to play nice. He has made a small friend group over the five years he has been on Teccypso, but in the back of his mind he is always thinking about when he will leave.

backstory
Rhydian grew up in the wilds of Xialara. From the time he was a little boy, he always had an animal companion at his side, as was typical for most Striettall. When he came of age and ventured off-world for the first time, his partner was a Xialaran hawk named Horus who was exceptionally helpful when Rhydian would take jobs to track people or other creatures down. In spite of Striettall being known for being quite prolific bounty hunters, Rhydian never took that type of work. If someone wanted to catch another person, then they could do it themselves. With their own skills. Sicing a Striettall on them was like a lion hunting a lamb and that didn't settle right with Rhydian. Regardless of what a person may have done to warrant a price on their head, they deserved a fair chance to survive, just like everyone else. If they got away, that was just what was meant to happen. Survival of the fittest.

Sure, not taking bounties meant that Rhydian had to work a bit harder to get by, but he had never been a man with lofty expectations anyway. He was quite content with living off his ship, with minimal interaction with people outside of his jobs. People were shady, with their own crooked desires. They were far more complicated than any of the animals he'd crossed paths with and Rhydian just couldn't be bothered to deal with them. Horus had been the only companion he needed, until he passed away at the ripe old age of twenty cycles. Rhydian was thirty five himself when he said goodbye to his longtime friend. He was alone for the first time when he pulled into port on Teccypso to refuel and get some basic repairs. It was only meant to be a quick stop, then he would be off to literal greener pastures to find a new partner.

He never expected that he would find it on the hunk of metal suspended amongst the stars. When passing the loading bay just off of the docks, he'd heard the growling of a distressed creature and followed it without any second thoughts. Rhydian walked back into one of the large cargo holds to find men shouting and trying to corral a larger Zerval (big ol' space leopard) out of a cage with electrified prods. What their intent for the beast didn't matter. When Rhydian met her gaze, he knew he couldn't let them take her. It was the first fight they were ever in together, but their synergy was like that of lifelong partners as they dispatched the guards with ease. But it was short lived. Rhydian had barely made it back to his ship with his newfound companion when Syndicate guards swarmed them both.

Apparently they had been eager to sell the Zerval for its pelt. But having a Striettall indebted to them proved far more lucrative. Rhydian was suddenly saddled with all the costs incurred for the elusive Zerval's initial capture, the cost of damages to the Syndicate guards which they'd beaten down, the price of the Zerval's pelt and any other part of it that would have turned a profit, and the impounding and repairs of his ship... Being grounded on the space station was the last thing he could have wanted, but his heart didn't feel heavy. He'd found his new partner and he wouldn't forsake them.

For the last five years, Rhydian has been trying to pay off his debt by working as a ship mechanic, but that's easier said than done when the Syndicate keeps tacking on interest and docking fees for his ship. He has been forced to wear the equivalent of a house arrest bracelet on his ankle which allows the Syndicate to keep tabs on him and make sure he doesn't leave the station.

writing style : 3rd or 2nd ( para/multi para ), but will mirror anything.
preferred method of rping : plotting

mun is 25+ (you may ask specific age in DM if that's important to you), easy going, slow with replies at times, flexible writing style, mature content ok, dark plots ok, may contact through DM.

please keep in mind that reply speeds may vary. I will reply to threads as I have muse for them, not necessarily in the order the threads were started. But I will try my best to prioritize replies in order. I am down for any plots so long as they make sense, but PLEASE read the plots that I have posted below here and see if your character fits any of them BEFORE asking me to plot. I prefer plots that are thought out and to avoid basic/random first-meeting threads (i.e. our characters just happen to bump into each other at -insert location here-). they can meet by chance, of course, but I would like to brainstorm the direction their relationship will go. I am flexible with my writing style. I don’t expect anyone to match my post lengths if I get wordy. Sometimes I just brain dump when I’m writing and it ends up way longer than I ever intended and I apologize in advance for that. 2-3 paragraphs tends to work out for more timely replies. I will try to be considerate and tag obvious triggers.
