It is said that Thraicids have no childhood. Younglings grow up being trained by their parents in anticipation of their grim coming of age ceremony, when they will be abandoned in the harsh wilderness filled with murderous beasts and expected to survive on their own. Their society has no place for the weak and they see fit to weed them out early. Naalo'yul was thirteen when he was dragged from his home and left for dead in the vast forest of Prima Semper. It took him five days to make it back to civilization, mangled and bruised but alive. From then, he was immediately conscripted into the army and trained as a warrior. A tool of the Emperor's will. Wherever he told them to go, they went and they conquered.
Non nobis solum nati sumus.
War and conflict was all Naalo knew up until adulthood, but he had developed a close bond with his contingent. They were the only family he had, built strong through enduring countless struggles together. He trusted them with his life... Yet Naalo's reputation had begun to precede him and there was already talk about him being reassigned to a higher position. He didn't want to leave his squad, but what he wanted didn't matter. Being considered for the Praetorian Guard, the elite protectors of the Emperor himself, was an honor no one could refuse. Of course, that meant others coveted the position and it put quite the target on Naalo's back even if he wasn't exactly thrilled about the promotion. At least with his own crew, he didn't have to worry about it. Or so he, thought.

While off world, he walked into camp after his evening patrol to find a dear friend and fellow soldier wearing his own face while standing amongst the bodies of his slain comrades. Everything Naalo thought he knew came crashing down around him. To many, the Zeldru were like the Boogeyman. They could infiltrate a society and you would never know. They were the unseen, silent saboteurs of nations. And this one had made his team look into his own eyes while they'd cut them down.

What their plan was, he wouldn't ever truly know. Perhaps they'd meant to frame him for the murder of his team to ruin him or intended to rise up the ranks being the only survivor, get close to the Emperor so they could take him out. Whatever the endgame was, he couldn't imagine death was part of it, but plans change, don't they? After a vicious struggle, Naalo drove a knife through the heart of his enemy and watched the life leave their eyes. His own eyes. As he sat there, trying to grasp what had happened and where to go from there, Naalo knew he was ed. If he hadn't killed them, they would have done more damage to the Empire under the guise of him and his life was over. Killing them avenged his team, but how was he supposed to prove he wasn't the imposter? That the body with his face wasn't actually him. It was a risk he knew the Empire wouldn't take, so returning meant death as well.

Running was the only option. The Empire would find his entire squad, including himself, dead and that would be the end of it. They were just more fodder lost to the Emperor's endless conquest. Taking the ship, Naalo hopped from world to world for months. Anything connecting him to his old life was traded, the person he was before virtually erased. He was only eighteen years old when he arrived in Teccypso and it was quite a culture shock for someone who'd grown up as part of a nation that only sought to grind the rest of the galaxy beneath its heel. Seeing so many different types of people living together made him realize that there was a way for harmony to exist without subjugation.

But, unfortunately, what Naalo knew how to do best was to follow orders to maintain order. As a Thraicid, his prowess in battle was quite well known and he was sought out for these particular skills by people with less admirable intentions. The Syndicate and The Dark Horizon both tried to get their claws in him, but Naalo had had enough of serving men with selfish interests. Joining the police force was not necessarily better, but at least at its core it stood for something greater. For protecting and serving the people. Naalo was only a cop for a couple of years before he was sought out to be part of a special unit the station was implementing in response to the growing strife between the government and the Dark Horizon. He has now been a member of the STAR Unit under the alias 'Rook' for six years, but works as an average cop when they aren't deployed.

Naalo never really had the chance to live a normal life until he arrived at Teccypso. So, when he isn't on duty, he loves being out there and having a good time. Being born a Thraicid does make things a bit difficult, though, considering his kind are viewed negatively by many races because of their ties to indiscriminate conflict.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
Naalo has grey eyes with bites of hazel coloring around the iris. Like every Thraicid, they do have a reflective layer behind the retina which makes them glow an eerie yellow when it reflects light in the darkness. Other distinguishing features are his battle scars. He has quite a few of them. However, the most unique are probably the scars along his spine. They are three dots in the shape of an upside-down triangle, from the mechanism inside of his STAR suit which injects certain drugs into his spine to ensure peak performance. When enough scar tissue builds up, they reprogram it to inject into a different location.

ABOUT THE ROLEPLAYER
mun is 25+ (you may ask specific age in DM if that's important to you), easy going, slow with replies at times, flexible writing style, mature content ok, dark plots ok, may contact through DM.
ROLEPLAY PREFERENCES
please keep in mind that reply speeds may vary. I will reply to threads as I have muse for them, not necessarily in the order the threads were started. But I will try my best to prioritize replies in order. I am down for any plots so long as they make sense. I prefer plots that are thought out and to avoid basic/random first-meeting threads (i.e. our characters just happen to bump into each other at -insert location here-). they can meet by chance, of course, but I would like to brainstorm the direction their relationship will go. I am flexible with my writing style. I don’t expect anyone to match my post lengths if I get wordy. Sometimes I just brain dump when I’m writing and it ends up way longer than I ever intended and I apologize in advance for that. 2-3 paragraphs tends to work out for more timely replies. I will try to be considerate and tag obvious triggers.
