Description
vesper tenebrae

royal advisor to kronic court

bio

vesper grew up cold and bitter in sierra lunari. at the age of eleven, his parents had successfully gambled away what little he had. the first to go had been his wool socks and thick boots, for young feet could withstand frost. then went his only coat, with the promise that the family would soon migrate to a warmer place—what any good were the rest of his clothes at that point? within a couple days, his parents ransacked his tiny wardrobe. when they still failed to recoup their bets, vesper was forced to surrender his last possession: a book, cheap, spotty parchment weakly binded. he had stolen it from some traveler, but treated it as if it were his own work, reading through every page and annotating hungrily, obsessively. he cried, screamed, and kicked to no avail; his father’s fist declared their resolution.

although of peasant blood, vesper swore that he belonged elsewhere, and thus slipped away from his parents. he followed a band of travelers until they reached the magneum city, where he became enamored with its metropolitan richness of knowledge. however, to survive there, he had to awaken more than his wits. acting as an apprentice in a library, he perused books from the forbidden section, especially the confiscated material of witches. he realized, through trial and error, that he could hold these supernatural powers. the most appropriate response, he felt, was to capitalize off them. he began sneaking into businesses through the shadows, stealing their exact information, and selling the intel off to competitors under the professional guise of “advice.” he also offered rapid, on-the-spot guidance, every calculation precise and sure to boost profits. his name became renowned among the richest circles. at twenty-five, comfortable yet unsatisfied, he decided to finally step into what he believed was his destined land, the palace. the campaign ran smoothly, thanks to his generous sponsors, and he’s now living out his aristocratic fantasies.

vesper is a traditional aristocrat. once he wakes up at seven o’clock, his servants aid him in starting his day. he adheres to the classic style of dress, simple yet quality suits, and will not be caught dead in anything else. he always has his hair styled up, to his instruction. for breakfast, and really all meals, he eats very little. having indulged enough in his riches, he finds it important to practice moderation. he smokes often, which further curbs his appetite. if his schedule permits, he might go hunting on palace grounds; all slain animals are given to the servants to share among themselves and their families. he takes major offense to inefficiency, so wasting meat is out of the question. if there’s a new theatre play or private art showing, he might leave the palace instead. however, he much prefers staying in to read in his study, having an ever-growing collection. he believes that one must constantly expand their knowledge through heavy reading. chess is also another pastime of his, but he struggles to find worthy opponents within the palace.

he’s maximalist in the sense that he enjoys collecting what he likes: literature, art, and alcohol. however, he is actively trying to stand out from the typical kronic, by focusing on self-improvement rather than superficial excess. having many jewels adorn his fingers, or a trendy coat on his back—this nouveau riche style is irrelevant to him. rather than be flashy in appearance, his wealth should be reflected in his aura. he prides himself on his beautiful, elaborate speech. he’s sarcastic and mean, but eloquently so. his words always carry a sharper edge to them, even when he’s in a merry mood, grinning and laughing. if he sees someone as intellectually beneath him, he won’t hesitate to ridicule them in his low, pleasant voice. he has no tolerance for the awkward, the sensitive, the ugly, the stupid…the list goes on.

his policy is, of course, putting the kronic kingdom first. some of the kingdoms, like myrador and aeris, specialize in goods of great importance: magic and crops, respectively. the former king claimed that kronos is at a disadvantage as a service-based kingdom, relying upon trade for basic resources. vesper had argued against the king, citing the economic concept of comparative advantage. trade is beneficial for all kingdoms, if peace is kept, but the king felt paranoid that one day it would break. kronos has now put itself in an interesting position as an aggressor. currently, vesper is focused on three tasks: spying upon the other court members, gathering intel from the other kingdoms, and ensuring that the kronic people are still confident in their ruling nobility. he has a plan in mind on how the kingdom can move forward, but it isn’t blood-free (may or may not include getting rid of the other court members for absolute power lmao).

Before You Approach Me

•.*★ important。please read through my very short profile! it’d be nice if you brought an idea, but i don’t mind exploring things with you. i’m open to anything (anything? anything).

Writing & Plotting Style

•.*★ writing style。 i do script to para. prefer third, but will do first. can write prettily and dramatically, or simply; i will match your style and tone of the plot! i tend to lead the thread instead of mirroring your reply. oh and i also love angst + emotional battles.

•.*★ plotting style。i like to have a basic plot but fill in the details as we write—makes the thread more spontaneous and hence alive for me. nevertheless, i’m more than happy going in depth if that’s what you need.

starter writer will be chosen based on what’s appropriate for the plot.

•.*★ overall。 just write with me lol.

Activity & Reply Speed

•.*★ important。 really depends on how long the reply must be, my poor brain, and my availability. don’t poke me because i always know what replies i have to do, half the time i’m just stuck on it.

Location Preferences
