Chapter One
― Her parents never had the intention of conceiving until the day when the doctor broke down the news of her mother's pregnancy with twins. Shortly after the brith of their twin daughters, they separated with the mutual agreement of keeping one of the daughters.
― With no one else to support her in Tawain, her mother decided to migrate to Ilsan, South Korea, to start her life somewhere new. Fortunately, she was able to settle and work as a housekeeper for a silver-spooned family depsie being taken pity upon for being a single mother.
― During her stay, Shuhua became close with the family's son. Together, they were inseparable and spent most of their days in their own world. However, it all came to an end when her mother planned something wicked up her sleeve by seducing the man of the house. When all that fails because of Shuhua, her mother plotted to kidnap the family's son but by hiring a couple thugs to do her dirty work. Yet again, it all fails when they mistakenly bring her daughter instead, leading her mother to feel outraged enough to cost the life of young Shuhua.
― Despite her plans never going according to the way she wanted them to be, her mother blamed everything on Shuhua and continued to neglect and abuse her. As much as Shuhua begged for mercy and countlessly apologized to her mother, she was starved, beaten and locked up behind the doors of the closet, where nobody would be able to hear her helpeless cries. Hence, explained her growing fear of the dark and coping mechanism of shutting her fears away.
― While being locked away, the wealthy family and her mother filed a missing person's report. For years, they searched endlessly for Shuhua and couldn't find any evidence of her disappearance. As a result of this, they eventually pronounced her dead and created a monument for her.
― Not long after that, her mother abandoned her at an orphanage, where she would later be adopted by a loving couple, along with her younger adopted brother. Altogether, they were a small happy family but nobody seemed to figure why it was difficult for her to remember her past.
