about me.
He was born in a place where the sun never shined.
Keep looking to the window, to the part of the room where the light pours in. You stole that light, my love, that must be why our city is as bleak as it is. Remember, no matter what happens, these shadows cannot hold you.
Born in a gloomy South Korean hovel, Jeongguk was a rare glimmer of sunshine in the black cloud of his family’s life. For a time he was led through safe passages and bright tunnels, shielded against the violent delights of the world because of rose-tinted, dream-logged glasses; his parents hands positioned over his shining eyes until he was blind with false promises and protection. Blinded to the dearth of their meals, to the days where food didn’t exist altogether; blind to his raggedy threadbare shirts and the shoes littered with holes; blind the decay that festered on their doorstep, tempest whirlwinds that razed Seoul to the ground ‘till ruin gave away to a glittering haven forever out of their reach. He was blind to the tears his mother cried in the quiet of night and his fathers pause outside his bedroom door, like clockwork, respiring deeply before he left for what could barely be called work.
The onslaught of hardship was naught but a tiny dot in Jeongguks dreamy field of vision.
But even that tiny speck could not be snuffed out by his light, as harshly as his parents tried; his eventual pain could only be soothed so much, he could only be cherished so much, until the realities of this world shattered his rose-tinted glasses with but a single circumstance.
The older he grew, the more his vision cleared, a cloth wiping away the pink fog and the multi-headed beast of cruelty lay in patience before him. As the fog grew thinner and thinner, the beast only grew bolder, blood slick teeth grinning a ghastly grin at its fated prey. Finally, the fated day, where his father, proud and true, was a heap of blood and viscera, the unfortunate casualty in a blood feud between two low level warlords. Grief was the vicious mistress of cruelty and Jeongguk had to acknowledge the loss he and his mother would have to endure. His father met his violent end, the shadows finally consuming a part of Jeongguks shining light.
His mother was never the same afterwards. Blight had rotted through the hardwood floors of their modest home, mildew forming in the crevices of water-logged ceilings, but it did not compare to the black mould that festered in his mothers heart henceforth. Jeongguk aspired for the future, still as reckless and jovial, a hummingbird in mid flight, wanting to enter the prismatic palace of the inner ring. But the lack of glasses exposed Jeongguk to the real world and it was not the light that he had so believed. Jeongguks bleak exposé to the world came to an end when he eventually arrived home to a gruesome vision of violence.
Brokenhearted and gripped by despair, Jeongguk continued to wander aimlessly through the world, mourning the loss of his rose-tinted glasses, heart heavy with self-pity.
The last of Jeongguks light had dwindled, pollution left in its wake, and he knew that he would never be whole again. His youth was a whirlwind, atrophy following him in cruelty’s wake; it seemed that pople like him, with stars in their eyes and innocence hidden within their hearts, were meant to be ruined, reaped, baubles to be played with from those who deemed themselves stronger, those who held the reigns to the beast of cruelty. Even though his spirit was forever scarred by that realisation, Jeongguks will prevailed and it drove him to a path of righteousness, looping and twisting through thorn-tick forests of brutality, until he found his place among the law-enforcers. Something in it strummed a harmonic chord in his otherwise silent heart. A promise of revenge, a promise of hope, a promise of better days for those who deserved it.
He sought out the smoke of battle each day, making headway through the trenches little by little. There was always fightback. His good deeds would dissipate into cigarette smoke within days but his spirit pulled through. Jeongguk was determined to answer the call of justice. He deserved more, his people deserved more, than the smoke they had been left to choke on in the criminals wake.
Watching his war torn streets was like watching a heated inferno caress a chunk of platinum. Jeongguk saw himself become something new, something hardened and blackened. He taunted death itself most days, an unending stream of insults, delighted at the taste of blood in his mouth. But every nugget of metal eventually melts to the raging fire and Jeongguk was no exception. Cruelty reared it’s ugly heads, again and again, dragging his very soul down into the pits of what he could only assume was hell.
Malice tortured his being, hopelessness clouding the edges of his vision. Time passed and Jeongguk began to understand why so many gave up the good fight against those who ruled over them with an iron fist. The world he had so desperately fought to keep together was falling apart between his fingertips and as each day passes, his spirit cracks a little more.

quote.
People think it’s an obsession. A compulsion. As if there were an irresistible impulse to act. It’s never been like that. I chose this life. I know what I’m doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn’t that day. And tomorrow won’t be either.

when approaching me  to plot
When wanting to roleplay with me, please do one of the following: have something in mind /  have picked something from the connections room or tag me in a random starter.
Please keep in mind that how and what I write depends on my mood and my current situation irl. I am a slow roleplayer due to working full time(long hours) and have hobbies that take up a good chunk of my freetime. In regards to poking, check out my absolute do not's.
I'm 100% ok with roleplaying and am open to most kinks. I'm not going to bother listing any of Jeongguks here but if you're curious then please ask. I would prefer to not roleplay in public rooms, I'd prefer to take it to the walls, pms or a private room. In relation to Jeongguks uality, specifically his attraction to males, Jeongguk is a switch in situations, just tell me what you'd prefer I do and I'll do it.
When it comes to the SNS side of roleplaying, I prefer to keep it to a minimum wherever possible. This is partially because of my dislike for it(excluding situations where it makes sense) and partially because Jeongguk, as a character, has a ty phone that he barely uses, he's not a texter, a caller, or a social media poster.

the do's when roleplaying
Feel free to ask me for a re-write if you are not satisfied with what you were given. Be polite. If you have a specific idea in mind then please do share with me and I will do my best to incorporate it. Please know that if you do this to me, you give me full permission to do it back.
You are more than welcome to godmod my character in various ways as long as it a.) helps move the story along or b.) makes sense for my character to perform said action in the situation. This does not mean you can control my characters emotions or speech but if you need them to sit down or to fall to the ground after being attacked, then please do so. Please note that I will do this to your character unless you explicitly tell me not too.
Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. It's easy to forget things but if you need a break from the plot, need to change it up or even drop it entirely, then tell me. I may have put on my authority voice for this section but I'm a genuinely nice and incredibly understanding person, I know that muse can change at the drop of a hat. All i ask is that you pm me.

the do not's when roleplaying
Don't poke me unless it's been more than 10 days and I have not updated you as to when I will reply.
Don't give me a one liner more than three times in a row. I understand muse and inspiration wavers but when I get little to no effort from you over and over again, then I will drop the plot without warning. I am ok with waiting longer for a reply if you need it, just let me know first. I'm a super patient person.
Don't pull any mary-sue / gary-stu bs with me. Respond to my reply with context in mind and I will do the same; if my character does something that, in context, is scary / confusing to another person, then react as so. I write my characters a certain way and I expect some sort of respect for that.

Description

Jeon Jeongguk
Jeon Jeongguk

DATE OF BIRTH: September 1st, 28 - 29 years old (go on and alter it as you wish :D)

OCCUPATION: COP

STORYLINE: Jeongguk lived in the slums of Seoul and had a pretty happy young childhood but of course in a roleplay like this, characters can't be happy for too long and eventually things slowly started going to hell around them as crime rates went up. Jeongguk's father was taken by petty thievery after losing his job, but he eventually crossed the wrong man and ended up dead in their home. His mother couldn't take care of Jeongguk, and she followed a similar fate.
Jeongguk wanted nothing more than to make his parents deaths worth it by pursuing a life in justice. Years in the force with little to show for it has slowly worn his spirit down, while Jeongguk won't ever become a dirty cop, it's becoming more and more difficult to see what the point in doing his job is anymore.
