Description
fabletown.

park chaewon.

Having been named a "true" princess in her fairy tale through a pea, Chaewon continues to uphold that title even in Fabletown, with a very bad case of princess syndrome.

Despite her lack of status in New York, Chaewon is still as arrogant and haughty as she was. This doesn't get her many friends, but she has more important things to focus on: getting rich.

Chaewon once faked her way to becoming  a princess, and she will do it again.

ne stormy night, a girl, looking disheveled, shows up at a castle, where a prince has been searching for a "true" princess.

Claiming to be a princess, the girl is put through a test of sensitivity by the queen. 20 mattresses are stacked in the bedroom for the girl, with one pea underneath them all. The next morning, when the girl wakes up looking sleepless, she is crowned a true princess, for she is sensitive enough to have felt the pea.

background.
the truth.

he girl was born to a wealthy baron and lived a life of comfort. At the age of 15, she was forced to flee when the kingdom they lived in was seized by another. For a year, she and her father lived on the streets, travelling from city to city.

They then chanced upon a kingdom and heard the rumours of the young prince in search of a "true" princess. Determined to leave behind the live of poverty, the girl showed up at the castle, like how the stories say, with claims of her royal lineage she had none of.

That night, she slept in the room of 20 mattresses. The set-up was a little too obvious and the castle's servants were a tad too loud, and the girl knew she simply had to show up to the breakfast table looking like she had not slept a wink.

The girl kept herself awake on the 20 mattresses with dreams of riches, and the next day, the girl was a princess, not even aware of the pea's presence until after the proposal.

he girl finds herself in a jungle of high-rise buildings at some point, and it feels like a crude dream, but she never seems to wake up on the velvet sheets she used to lay on.

The girl, having to face reality, becomes Park Chaewon.

Having lost her life of luxury twice, Chaewon is desperate to get rich quick and continue living the life she believes she deserves.

With big dreams of riches and no skills to chase them, Chaewon works as a con artist under the guise of an exorcist, even if she can't see any ghosts. But she can charge exorbitant prices for zero work, and that's all the matters. After all, pretending to be the real deal is what she does best.

CONNECTIONS

01. the pea prince

details: 22-28 years old.

you once searched for a "true" princess and you found her in the girl who now goes by 'park chaewon'. chaewon was never in it for love, only for the riches, but she faithfully played the role of the princess by your side. now in manhattan where you have the freedom to start anew, will you choose the same person again?

notes: possible ideas for your character!
— obssesed with the idea of authenticity/perfection
— OR a hopeless romantic looking not for true love, which you once believed would be with a "true" princess
— unrequited love!

02. the crime-buster

you are good, righteous, and completely opposed to chaewon scamming people by doing fake exorcisms. you have tried to talk her out of it countless times, yet you catch chaewon sweet-talking people into hiring her services time and time again.

notes: would be cool if your character can see ghosts, so that's how they know chaewon is a scammer, but not necessary!
possible plots:
— trying to get chaewon a proper job
— confronting her after she managed to secure a client
— asking her to exorcise your home in order to expose her

03. (in talks!) the neighbour

chaewon, who used to live in a castle where she was attended to her many servants, now lives in a small dingy apartment in tall-tale tower alone. this change hasn't been easy, and as the fable who lives next door, you are the witness to chaewon's struggles to adapt to communal living.

notes:
possible plots include
— you hear chaewon screaming her lungs out and rush over, expecting an emergency, only to find out that chaewon can't kill a cockroach
— you are that noisy neighbour and chaewon shows up at your door fuming
— the classic 'locked-out' scenario because chaewon isn't used to opening her own door
