Read Before You Approach Me

ೃ★︎ ⟶ FOR PLOTTING.i would prefer if you came to me with a plot in mind, and i will try and do the same. plotting is usually not too hard for me to do, but sometimes i can get quite stumped. winging is fine, but i am still quite new to it so it can blind-side me a bit ghjfd.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ TIME ZONE & PACE. my timezone is gmt8. know that i am very not active with replies lol. i have bouts of intense writer’s block and low muse, so i might “ghost” our thread for some time, but i will try and let you know when that happens. please just poke me politely and respectfully if it has been over a week since you responded, and i will let you know how i am doing (this poke won’t make me reply, just remind me that i have to let you know how i am doing).

know that i might be active in the chat or responding to other threads does not mean i am ignoring our thread or you. sometimes it’s just how it is, and i will not be mad at you for doing the same.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ OOC AGE & MATURE THREADS. i am 21 years old ooc. however, i am uncomfortable to with people i have never done a plot before with or someone i don’t know well. if we have ted before or our characters are dating, i will be okay with it.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ WRITING STYLE. i tend to get a little carried away with writing so my replies might be a little long. i like to reply in 3rd pov paragraph style and only do script in chat. i might write a lot but you don’t have to mirror the length, but some effort should be applied to the reply, of course. i am more than happy to do starters, especially if i have a good idea on how to start, but please don’t expect me to do it every time, especially if it doesn’t make sense for me to start.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ GENRE LIMITS. with genres, i’m very flexible, i don’t mind plotting out fluff, angst, even romance, but i will not plot out a pwp plot with you. if our non-pwp plot has in it, i will ask you to skip over the scene or speak about it in passing. please refer to above as to why.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ LOCATION. i don’t really mind where our threads are, walls, pms, or rooms. i would prefer rooms just to keep the rp active and getting us both some points, but i really don’t mind wherever.

ೃ★︎ ⟶ BIG NO-NOS. i don't rp things like , , ia, non-con/dub-con, and other taboo subjects of the like. i prefer to stay out of infidelity plots (unless we are close and talk it out a lot beforehand).

The Story

Part I

Chapter I

Sojung had one rule to follow as a child— to never speak about Chu Jungho, her father. Well, that's a lie really, Sojung had many rules to follow: make sure her hair was always brushed, only wear skirts below the knee, boys were not allowed in her room, and she must always follow her mother to Church without questions. Many of these rule had that add-on— "without questions". Though she didn't care to ask questions about most of them, the one she wanted the answers to the most was about Chu Jungho.

She had no direct memory of him. All the memories she may have had were spoonfed to her by her mother and her mother's family. When she was born, he was nowhere to be seen, when she cried in the night he never even woke, when Sojung's mother was pregnant with her, he would tell her to deal with her cravings.

Sojung accepted this as truth when she was a kid. But the lies started to unravel when Sojung's mother married a new man, her childhood best friend and the best man to her father.
Chapter II

✶ ⁞   important tw/ ual assault, ual abuse, physical abuse, domestic abuse.

He was a nice man at first. The problems her and her mother had seemed to have gone away. When they struggled for money and food, the extra pair of hands were needed. He was religious like Sojung's mother, even going so far as to be one of the forefronts of their local church. After they got married but before the honeymoon phase ended; Sojung was given a little sister at the age of 13.

Sojung had a rough time acclimatizing herself to Lee Sowon, her little sister. It was weird for her, as she was going through puberty and dealing with things like her own identity and rebellion against her mother and step-father's harmful beliefs. To find her own identity, she closed herself off to her family and started to distance herself. To feel like she belonged somewhere she looked to the "wrong crowd", deemed by their patronizing community. They weren't wrong, not at all. They were like Sojung, lost and confused, the few who actually were loud and proud about their identities and struggles, wore it on their sleeves in black ink.

This rebellion led to Sojung's punishment. She wasn't close to Sowon, was as close as a sister at 13 could be to a child, but she remembers her sister's cries in deep memories into the night. She doesn't remember much else of the abuse she faced from her step-father, a violent violation of her body where her mother would prick holes into her self-confidence and sometimes into her skin. She would turn a blind eye to the abuse Sojung faced from her step-father, closing the curtains and turning the TV a little louder.

If there was one thing Sojung regretted from this time, it would be to protect her sister. She thought not telling anyone, not sending her mother and father to jail was protecting Sowon. She needed parents who could love her, what could Sojung do? Sojung's lack of memories from her own childhood were replaced with Sowon's. The memory of holding Sowon in her arms at the hospital, the memory of watching Sowon crawl across the living room while Sojung avoided the patronizing stares of her mother. Sowon was her only family, but Sojung didn't realize that at the time.

Part II

Chapter I
When Sojung graduated, she left. She made it so that her departure from them was unexpected and they would never know where she went. She followed a friend who was going to study in Seoul, slept on their couch as she looked for a part-time job to get her own place. Being a Korean student who had no entrance exams score and average marks in school made it hard for her to get a lasting and fulfilling job. She was able to do a little, until a man by the name of Chu Jungho came back into her life.

Apparently he had been living in Canada after he and Sojung's mother split. He had faced abuse at her mother's hand, physical and verbal, but was unable to get a fair trial due to him fighting back one time and Sojung's mother getting full custody of Sojung. The case had been made that he used violence against her, and there was no evidence of the violence he faced. Ashamed and afraid, he went to Canada to work at a bank. Knowing little to no English, he wasn't able to get anything good until he had picked up the language and was able to come back to Korea to find Sojung.

Though Sojung knew of her mother's abuse, she was left with a hole of trust. Over the next few years she kept up her attempt to get close to him. Now with his knowledge in English he got a good job in Korea, and was able to provide Sojung with a few gifts. She was determined on only taking a little, working by her own to get what she could. But she had an itch that needed to attend to...

At the age of 26, Chu Jungho gave her enough money to open up her tattoo parlour. At the same time, Sojung filed a lawsuit against her mother and step-father to take custody of Lee Sowon. Sojung luckily had incriminating evidence of her father's ual abuse, along with her mother's testimony that led to her getting a lessened sentence, the two were put in jail and Sojung gained custody of Sowon, who was 13 at the time.

Sojung is by no means rich, or healed. Though she has her sister next to her and her father back in her life, she still doesn't have enough money to truly support her sister's life and she still has to deal with the trauma faced at the hands of her parents, not even mentioning what Sowon had to go through while Sojung was gone.

But... She's trying. Trying to get back on her feet and trying to get a firm stance on life. Though the winning of the custody battle would usually be where the credits roll, Sojung's life still has many more chapters to go through.

The Vibes

MBTI (XXXX)
INFJ-TAdvocates (INFJs) may be the rarest personality type of all, but they certainly leave their mark on the world. Idealistic and principled, they aren’t content to coast through life – they want to stand up and make a difference. For Advocate personalities, success doesn’t come from money or status but from seeking fulfillment, helping others, and being a force for good in the world.

While they have lofty goals and ambitions, Advocates shouldn’t be mistaken for idle dreamers. People with this personality type care about integrity, and they’re rarely satisfied until they’ve done what they know to be right. Conscientious to the core, they move through life with a clear sense of their values, and they aim never to lose sight of what truly matters – not according to other people or society at large, but according to their own wisdom and intuition.

Secrets & Fears
Secrets They'll Share: For a long time, Sojung never shared her history of abuse. Now, she shares it with who she deems close enough, but often keeps it to herself.

She also didn't want to share her uality for a while, but she is comfortable sharing it now.

Secrets Kept to Themself: She still feels like she can't keep Sowon and wonders if she should put her into the system. She feels strange about the ual abuse she experienced when young since it created a bad complex surrounding and men to her. She doesn't share this, because she has still not completely accepted the abuse and has no closure with it.

Known Fears: She has a fear of bugs and big dogs. She fears being rejected and she knows this.

Unrecognized Fears: She has a fear of not being good enough for someone, whether romantically or platonically. She fears men, especially those bigger than her, because of step-father.

The FAMILY

mother
KIM MIKYUNG | Alive | 52 y.o.
A very religious woman who had abused her husband physically and ually before, during, and after the birth of Chu Sojung. She remarried Lee Sungsoo when Sojung was 13. Apparently they were childhood friends and he was Jungho's best man. She was a housewife for the most part, often volunteering for Church activities. She is currently in jail as of 2021, and will be until 2025 due to child abuse and child endangerment.
father
CHU JUNGHO | Alive | 50 y.o.
Wasn't part of Sojung's life until she was 23 years old. After Sojung was born, Jungho fought back from the abuse trying to protect her, and so Mikyung filed a case of domestic violence against him and gained full custody over Sojung. Fleeing Korea with what little money he had, he went to Canada and worked there before coming back and trying to gain a relationship with Sojung. He is kind and tries to help out with her and Sowon when he can. Sojung meets with his side of the family for the holidays.
Step-father
LEE SUNGSOO | Alive | 58 y.o.
Knew Mikyung since childhood as they went to the same Church. Very religious, once an important figure in their Church. Married a woman but didn't have any children with her before re-marrying Mikyung when Sojung turned 13. After having another child with Mikyung, Sungsoo started to ually and physically abuse Sojung as a punishment for her rebellion. When Sojung left, he started to abuse his own daughter Sowon. Sojung filed a police report against him and his wife when she was 26 years old and won due to incriminating evidence. He was jailed in 2021 and will stay in jail until minimum of 2031 due to ual assault, child abuse, child endangerment, and domestic violence against his wife.
Sister
LEE SOWON | Alive | 14 y.o.
Born when Sojung was 13 years old. Wanted to become close to Sojung but Sojung was dealing with a lot of her own . The two gradually became close after Sojung left. They kept in contact as Sowon tried to share her problems with her family. The two became the only ones the other could trust. Sowon looks up to Sojung and sees her more like a parental figure than her own. She doesn't know Jungho well but is grateful towards him for helping where he could.

familial ✦ you are cousins with sojung, from her mother's side or you are related to her step-father. it can go either of two ways: you didn't know the full story and were judgemental towards her and her birth father at first, but the two of you met by chance and you realized she wasn't as bad as your family made her out to be. or, you always believed her and knew she wasn't lying or had no ulterior motive, either because the two of you were close and you just knew as a kid, or because you experienced the same thing or similar with your own family. the two of you end up meeting by chance and speak about your messy family situations. you can choose whether you are related to her mother (kim mikyung) or her step-father (lee sungsoo).

They're gonna clean up your looks with all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun and keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work, they're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads, your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
