power.
  • mystic arts:  the power to utilize supernatural forces to potentially achieve any effect ones desires.
    • subpowers
      • dark arts:  the power to use magic that is malevolent and destructive in nature.
      • necromancy:  the power to utilize magic involving the dead, death-force and/or souls (i.e. ressurecting the dead).  users can also communicate with the deceased — either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily. this is most frequently depicted as being able to resurrect the dead to varying to degrees, from shambling corpses to conscious zombies to even complete resurrection.  most powerful users can directly convert the living into the undead, allowing them to bypass conventional durability by turning an opponent into a mindless zombie at the user's control.  many practitioners find a way to cheat death one way or another, whether by becoming some form of undead creature or by bypassing their own ability to die.
    • weaknesses
      • stealing the necromicon:  taking the necromicon from hell raiser's possession could weaken his powers for as long as it is out of his grasp.  he would still be able to cast magic, but he would not be as powerful.
      • destruction of the necromicon:  hell raiser derives his magic from the book of the dead.  although no one has been able to successfully, completely destroy the necromicon in history, it is rumored that light arts may destroy it for a century before it manifests someplace on earth.
      • light arts:  a direct counter to the dark arts; hell raiser's undead army can burn under direct light emitted from light magic.
      • breaking focus:  hell raiser must have a clear mind to successfully cast dark spells, especially the most powerful ones.  distracting him is an efficient way to temporarily stop his threat.
      • magic negation:  if the opponent cannot break the necromicon, then resorting to any form of negation (i.e. anti-magic cuffs) can effectively restrain hell raiser.

ooc notes.
  • BASICS:  third pov, past tense, semi to multi-para.
i can certainly do first pov but only for shorter threads.  i am more comfortable with third pov overall.
+ past tense; i'm very specific about this because i feel like past tense is more flexible when dealing with time shifts, such as moving from one point to another.  note that i do not expect my partners to write in the past tense.  if you are more comfortable than present, by all means, continue to write in the present tense.  just know that i may either try my best to mirror you, or just write in past tense because i'm more comfortable with it.
+ my replies vary depending on what i feel my character will and can do at that given moment. i will elaborate on this in the next section.
  • MIRRORING:  feel free to not mirror.
i do not think it is necessary to mirror.  sometimes i feel like it is more restricting and impedes on the flow of the thread.  even if i give you a multi-paragraph reply, i will be more than okay with receiving a three sentence or so response.  i would rather not force any of my writing partners to word vomit just to mirror the length i give them.
+ why?  let me put it this way: when you are having a conversation with someone, do you always speak an equal amount?  when you are sitting in a kitchen with a friend or a family member and they are cooking and going around the kitchen while you are simply sitting and listening, is that a mirror exchange?  i like to view responses that way.
  • ACTIVITY:  7/10
  • MUSE:  8/10
+ if you see me begin to get selective with my responses, it does not mean i don't have muse for our plots.  it just means that i feel like i have to think less with the thread i am replying to, if that makes sense.  i try not to be selective, though, so this happens very rarely.
