Black, red, and white were the colours of the tents Kim Jongin was so used to seeing as he grew up in the circus. Taken under his master's wing when he was at the mere age of ten, he was trained to become the legacy of his master, the master illusionist of the circus. The circus is his home and always will be as he was never able to fit in well with the other kids at his orphanage. They just couldn't understand the hardships he had to go through.

His parents loved him dearly because he was their world, their hopes and dreams, but they left too early for him to accomplish anything. Ripped out of Jongin's life like a thin piece of paper. At his age, he couldn't understand what 'death' was; was it a temporary vacation his parents were on or was it because he was naughty and they decided they didn't want him anymore? He didn't know. He woke up to a white ceiling and bandages all over his body. The doctors told him he was lucky to survive such a fatal car accident with only one major scar running down his back. There was nothing he could do lying on a hospital bed but cry himself to sleep and mourn silently for the death of his parents, knowing he'll never see them again.

Ever since, he's been living at an orphanage, but half a year later was when his master came and made Jongin his disciple. A fews years later when he was old enough to assist his master in his performances gave birth to his stage name, Kai. He even got a tattoo of a blooming rose with thorns on his back to cover the ugly scar that runs from between his shoulder blades down to his tailbone. Blooming symbolized a new beginning; thorns represented hardships and pain; and the rose as a whole means a fleeting love. As an illusionist, he's made a goal for himself that he'll bring smiles to the people that watch his performances just like his master.

Personality
A mysterious and charming enigma on stage, but when behind the scenes, Kai is a rather friendly and outgoing person. Seeing as he's probably one of the youngest to be admitted into the Night Circus, it wasn't easy to make friends, but as he grew older and eventually making a name for himself as an illusionist boosted his ego as well as his confidence. Not that he shows off or anything of the sort, but he's quite the flirt with his flashy tricks meant to woo women and satisfy the muse of young kids. Despite being quite outgoing, Kai will sometimes keep his problems to himself not wanting to be a burden to anyone. He had enough problems as it was as a child, so as a grown man, he opted to take care of his own personal affairs; be that a good or bad thing to the ones that know him well.
