BACKGROUND
Baek sumin was born into a rather broken family, her father abusive and addicted to drugs. It took all of her mother's courage and strength to leave him, with both Sumin and her two older brothers. Their life was hard, with her mother and her eighteen year old brother working. Sumin, only four years old at the time, was always worried for her mother and remained solemn and quiet for her child years. As soon as her other brother turned eighteen two years later, he quit school to work and support their broken family. Sumin, still only in primary school, saw how hard her family worked to make sure that she had a good future. Since then, she swore that she would work hard and be the first to go to college, so she could also support the family that had worked so hard to make sure she was happy. Throughout her life, she worked hard in school and remained one of the better students in her school.
Sumin had always had a rather strange and complex way of finding beauty in things that seemed useless or insignificant. Like the way the rain sounded falling against her window, or how idyllic a single blooming spring flower looked in a sad field. This led her to persue photography; if she could find things so beautiful on an ordinary basis, why shouldn't she keep them, not in her mind, but in the story of a photograph?
PERSONALITY
Because of the environment Sumin grew up in, she is quiet and somewhat shy in a way. The reason she is so quiet despite having lots to say is because she doesn't want to interrupt anything the other person could be doing, since growing up, she didn't bother her mother, who was always working. When someone approaches her first, or she becomes comfortable, she will begin to speak more and more. She's extremely passionate and opinionated, although she holds back her words when she meets knew people. When you get to know her, she will become less and less closed up and begin speaking her mind more often.
Sumin is the type is the type to hold grudges, but it is a completely unconscious thing she does, due to her father. If someone were to hurt her in any way, she would forgive, but never ever forget it. Because in the back of her mind, she has a constant reminder to herself that you hurt her. She also prefers to keep her feelings and stress inside, not wanting to bother anyone, as usual. Which is also the reason why if you piss her off and she plans revenge, you'll never see it coming.

Sumin thought that her mother was off the dating market forever after the divorce. She's proven wrong when her mother tells her that she wants the two of them to have a dinner with her new boyfriend and his son. "He goes to your school," her mother tells her.
