Dongwoo is born and raised in Suginami-ku, Tokyo, Japan for a short bit of his life with his sisters and very busy parents. When he was about 5 years old, he was sent to an orphanage in Nakano-ku after his parents where deemed unfit to raise him and his 2 older sisters. Not hoping to being adopted by anyone when he was younger, he had schemed his way out of every single family he didn’t like until he was 15 years old and was adopted into a nice family of performers with his 2 older sisters. He is naturally very quiet around people, even if he feels comfortable around him or her, and doesn’t like talking about himself and his past. He has 2 young macaws named Miku and Tatsuo.
A month after he was adopted, Dong Woo started to audition for many different entertainment companies in Tokyo and got accept into One Heart Entertainment 2 weeks later. He trained there for 2 months before debuting in to a five member boy group called Diamonds as the sub vocalist, main rapper and dancer. He was popular with the group and all the fans and likes to take care of all of them. He left the group because of some personal reasons and was contacted to join Starz Entertainment just a week later, accepting it 2 days later. Dong Woo can speak in Japanese, English and knows some Korean and Mandarin.
