As if hearing her own voice wasn’t enough to keep her sane, when it took awhile for anyone or anything to respond to her – she started to slowly slump her head down in agony. But that was when she heard a velvety, deep voice fill the air, leading her to look up in confusion.
It would be a lie to say that the joke that was cracked didn’t cause the corners of her lips to itch up into a lighthearted smile – if anything; it made her reassured that she was in good hands. That maybe, just maybe, she’ll be okay for once.
But it all disappeared when she felt the stinging sensation from her wounds, attacking her all over again. And that was when it hit her, the memories – the reasons as to why she was in this poor condition. She kind of had a clue as to what these questions were about, and was a little nervous in telling her savior everything that had happened up until this point. When he picked her up, she whimpered quietly – eyebrows furrowing as she clung onto him weakly. That was until she realized that she had to let him go. Taking in the last bit of his warmth before he pulled, she sighed softly and pulled the blankets that had once shielded her half- body, up again.
A part of her wanted to deny the food that was placed in front of her,
but it was evident she was starving. Her stomach had begun growling the moment she laid eyes on the bowl placed neatly on a tray he fixed for her. He did all of this for her too, a complete stranger. He could have done anything to her, had his way with her – took pictures of her and held it against her will, but… he didn’t. With her fingertips brushing along her hair that was probably fluffed out and messy – she tucked a few strands behind her ear and reached for the tray. It wouldn’t hurt…
She could trust him, she could trust him…
Jaejoong. He called himself Jaejoong.
She made sure to remember his name as quick as she could, but her mind had continued to go back to the bowl she was desperately clinging onto. When he came back into view, she slowly pulled the spoon away from her lips – a bit flustered at the outfit and what he said. Who was she to be picky? Though it was a bit short for her taste, she would rather have something, than nothing at all. “Of course,” she softly spoke up, finally deciding that she should test out her voice after being quiet for so long. It was a little strain and hoarse, but she figured it was from running out in the rain for so long, trying to find shelter. Just as she was lifting the spoon up yet again, from the sudden roar of thunder rumbling outside, she winced and shut her eyelids tightly, dropping the spoon back into the bowl and shuddering. Storms were her worst fear. “Jaejoong, I…” She started up quickly, wanting to do anything she could to distract herself from the war that was going outside in the clouds. But her voice yet again wet soft, and soon, silent. Placing down the bowl, she wrapped the blanket around her form tighter and stood up slowly, picking up the uniform he had worked on finding for her. He was sweet, and as soon as she got done changing, she knew what she would say to him. “I’m going to change behind your chair if that’s alright? I really don’t want to stray too far.” Though her voice was soft, she did her best to speak as loud as she could – despite the stinging that was left behind.
Trailing behind his chair, she dropped the blanket with ease and started to slowly clothe herself with the uniform. Smoothing it out and picking up the blanket when she was done, she made her way back towards the couch, sitting in a fetal position and shifting her gaze over towards the man that saved her. Dare she call him her guardian angel?
“My name is Miyoung Hwang, but I’m mostly known as Tiffany to most.”
She started off strong, the pride that was normally inside of her voice, had drifted away. She couldn’t find a reason to be as confident as she was known to be anymore.
“I-I just wanted… to let you know, how thankful I am. You really saved me. And honestly… between us, I wasn’t looking for anyone to help me. Or to be saved.” She did her best to blink away the tears building up, but it was becoming hard to manage the façade she had plastered on her face. She was afraid, she was hurting, and she was on the verge of losing it all – in front of a man she had never met before. Wouldn’t that make him uncomfortable? “I’m sorry… I’m sorry about keeping you out so late; I can leave and bring you back the uniform so you can go home?”
