@Ken "Yeah. Most people think that I don't care about my family, but I do." Leo said. Why was he even telling this guy this? He really had no idea. He just felt like he finally knew someone he could trust. Leo shrugged his shoulders. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad here after all. He looked at the sky. Today was perfect, even though it was hot. " Hey, do you think it's weird that the people here thought it was a good idea to let boys who have criminal records be in the same place? I mean, wouldn't there be a lot of fights?"
Ken 10 years ago
@Leo "Sister?" He voiced awkwardly, scrunching his face up. He had not been expecting that to be Leo's secret. It was difficult for Ken to digest the fact that the guys in this facility more than likely had family back home. For some reason, he had expected that they would all be like him - more or less. There was nothing for him back home except misery. No one was waiting eagerly for him to return and he was more than a bit disappointed to discover that Leo had a legitimate reason for wanting out. The boy's admission only served to remind Ken of his own selfishness.

@Ken Leo looked at him then sighed. "No use trying to really keep it secret so what the heck. I'm thinking about my little sister. She's twelve and she's in orchestra. I'm just kind of sad I can't see her play at her concerts." He shrugged his shoulders. " She used to get bullied at school and I was the one to help her out so I just hope she's alright."

@Leo "It must be pretty serious," Ken said offhandedly. "Whatever it is you're thinking about.." He leaned over and nudged Leo's shoulder lightly. "Who is she?" He asked, grinning. Then, seeing the puzzled look on Leo's face, elaborated. "I mean a smile like that is usually reserved for someone special. Is someone from back home on your mind?"
Leo 10 years ago
@Ken Leo was surprised by the question. " No! I mean no, you're not keeping me away from my work." He shook his head. "And I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not uneasy. I'm just thinking is all." Leo looked at Ken. "It's nothing really." Leo smiled again. He was thinking about his sister, back at home.
Ken 10 years ago
@Leo Ken was stunned into silence when Leo smiled. He had not expected to see such a soft expression grace his face. Thus far he'd seemed withdrawn from their small talk, almost as if he were expressing his frustrations simply for the sake of doing so but not because he really thought it might help relieve some of his stress. It was unfortunate really. Ken didn't want to be here anymore than Leo did but he figured it might not be so bad after all. At least he was away from his family and in the end that was more than enough to satisfy him. "You look uneasy, Leo." Ken observed suddenly. "Like something's irritating you." He noticed his companion eyeing the grass. "Am I keeping you from all this work you keep talking about?"
Leo 10 years ago
@Ken Leo chuckled for the first time in a long time. "Sorry about that." Leo smiled genuinely "It's just that I kind of have anger issues so it adds on. But each day is pretty much just a routine. You wake up, get to work, eat, work again, eat then work again, then eat, then sleep. Pretty easy except for the work part. I mean they let us take showers and all but still you get really sore." He looked at the grass. It was going to need to be trimmed soon.

@Leo "What are you, some sort of sadist?" Ken questioned jokingly. Despite his confident tone, the malicious look in Leo's eyes sent a shiver down his spine. He didn't know what he ought to make of the guy. One thing was certain, he'd have to be careful not to get on his bad side. "So we're both here against our wills. How does one cope with being stuck here?" He wondered aloud, as he wiped his grass stained hands on his jeans. "To be honest, I only arrived this morning. I'm pretty damn clueless about this place."
Leo 10 years ago
@Ken Leo looked at him kind of surprised. He hadn't expected that. " I got busted for beating up a police officer. He was about to catch me and some friends right after we had messed up this one kid. But instead I jumped on him and started punching." Leo held up his hand and made it into a fist. "But I don't regret it. It felt good to punch the heck out of that policeman." Leo smirked a dangerous one. He thought back about how it felt, felling those bones under him. "They sent me here ,because they thought it would ' make me a better young man'. Ha! In their dreams." Leo looked at the boy next to him. This wasn't something he expected on telling anybody about this here.
Ken 10 years ago
@Leo "Nope, never." Ken confirmed, drawing his lips together in an amused grin. "It was nice." He paused for a moment and then added, "While it lasted." He'd had it easy from the start, coming from a wealthy family. He knew very little about responsibility and even less about discipline. It appeared that Leo was the complete opposite of him. "I was busted for expressing myself through my art, if you know what I mean.." Ken trailed off distractedly as he began to thread his fingers through the blades of grass near his feet. Vandalism of public property was nothing short of a petty crime in his mind but his parents had been far too embarrassed by his acting out to let him off the hook. So, in an attempt to get rid of him they made arrangements with his probation officer to have him sent out here. From the moment he'd arrived at the Gallows, he thought the facility was a joke. "What about you? What did they get you for?" He asked, focusing his attention on Leo's stoic face.

@Ken Leo frowned. This wasn't going the way he thought it would. He wanted to make this guy mad ,but It seems this Ken guy has something different in mind. "I'm Leo." He said. "So, never worked a day ,huh? Must've been nice. I don't know how you'll be able to survive out here, though. So, what you in here for?" For the first time, Leo was curious. He looked at the fence that was about 50 yards away. The paint needed to be redone.
Ken 10 years ago
@Leo Ken pondered the stranger's remark for a moment and then shrugged. "You're probably right," He agreed, returning the boy' smirk with one of his own. "Work has never been my strong point, I'll admit. Then again, I've never had to work a day in my life." He chuckled to himself as he revealed this fact. Leaning his back against the trunk of the tree, Ken looked out across the yard. "My name's Ken by the way," He said, introducing himself.
Leo 10 years ago
@Ken Leo looked at the stranger. "I feel like hell." Leo muttered. " You try working all day in this heat and then check back with me." Leo snapped. He glared at the male next to him. Then Leo smirked. "Of course, you probably couldn't handle it." Leo was going to have some fun with this kid.
Ken 10 years ago
@Leo "That makes two of us." Ken said aloud as he approached the stranger he saw sprawled out underneath a tall tree. The overhead canopy of leaves was providing them both some much needed shade. When he reached the other male, Ken squatted down beside him. He took one look at the boy's face and sighed. "You look like hell," He stated dryly as he took a seat on the ground.
Leo 10 years ago
@Ken Leo made his way to a tree for shade. He had been working all day and he was hot and tired. He sighed and laid under the tree. "I never _____ing wanted to be here" He thought aloud.
Leo 10 years ago
@Kai Leo scowled. He wasn't done messing with the other yet. “Heh, can't fix em yourself, I see. Oh, I guess it takes a real man to do it.” Leo's tone had a teasing edge to it. Leo started to go back in the shed.
Kai [A] 10 years ago
@Leo Kai scowled at the other then shook his head realising the other may be trying to mess with him. Kai smirked a bit. "Well since you are in the shed that must mean you work maintenance." Kai noticed the other holding a couple of tools, and he wondered to himself if he really wanted to get under the boys skin with-out really knowing who he was, or what he was capable of. He decided to continue with what he was going to ask of the other. "You see that fence over there." Kai pointed to the round pen in which he had just been working in. "A couple of boards are loose, find them and fix them." Kai turned to leave.

@Kai “I'm Leo. And yeah, todays my first day here. Now, as I said before, What do you want?” Leo lost the degrading tone but replaced it with an amused one. He loved messing people. Exactly one of the reasons that got him here. After the fact that tackled a police officer then ran.
Kai [A] 10 years ago
@Leo "Heh" Kai scoffed and looked away for a moment. He was a bit taken back by the cold response from the other whom he hadn't even met. "Yeah, you can start by introducing yourself. I'll start." Kai crossed his arms. "I'm Kai, you must be new here." Kai glanced back at the anxious looking horse he still held by a rope. Looking back at Leo he waited for a response.
Leo 10 years ago
@Kai Leo heard someone move up to the shed and call out.“Yeah.” He made his way to the front of shed ,with a few tools in his hands, where he saw guy standing in the door way.
“Can I help you?” He spoke degrading tone. He leaned on the door frame as he waited for the response to his question.

@Leo @Leo
Kai was using the round pen to exercise a horse. With a lunge line attached to the horses halter, and a whip in the other hand he controlled the nine hundred pound animal like a pro. Horses seemed to be his calling, though he hadn't had much experience with them before his stay at the gallows. His aunt owned horses so when he was a kid he was around them, though he never really took a huge interest in them. It was different here he worked hard training and exercising the horses. What else would he have to do all day there weren't that many inmates at the gallows.

Kai noticed someone rustling around in the shed. "Woahh" he commanded in a gentle yet stern voice to the tall dapple grey thoroughbred horse on the end of the lunge line. The horse slowed from a trot to a walk, then finally a complete stop and turned to face the guy holding the rope. Kai approached the horse and patted his muzzle. "You did well" he said praising the horse then led it to the shed where he stopped and called out. "Anyone in there?"

Leo walked into the yard. He looked around, taking notice of his surroundings. "so, this is where I'm going work at ,for now." He thought aloud.
He made his way to the supply closet so he could get started.
