[Muse A] was going back home to visit family for a week. Embarrassed at the thought of telling them that their new partner already dumped them, they pay [Muse B], their co-worker, to go with them to pose as a couple.
[Muse B] is absolutely against the plan, thinking it's stupid due to barely knowing each other but goes along with it just for the free entertainment of [A] lying to their whole family.
Just as the two begin to slowly lose themselves in the act and possibly fall for each other, they have to tell the truth when [A]'s ex shows up unannounced.
