Jongin grew up and lived in Seoul. His parents were rather wealthy and he was always taken care of. He was raised with the expectation to become a business man. Although at the age of eight, he no longer wished to be a business man. He fell in love with hip hop, dance and such. His parents supported his dreams, as long as he joined a big company. He started to attend dance school at eight, and was accepted in SM Entertainment at the age of 10.
When he was 13, he was promised to debut by SM in a group. Although, going through the final confirmation proccess, through a survival show - he did not make the final cut. A member of the survival show felt threatened by his dancing that he began to act as if Jongin was bullying him. Making it to the finals of the survival show, he was cut at the last moment.
After being cut from the show, he was kicked out of SM Entertainment, who later released a statement stating that Jongin was not bullying anyone. Then he moved out to YG Entertainment, where he became apart of the survival show SMTM3, reaching the finals - Jongin went under the name as Kai. He finally won the competition but his company had no intent to debut him as a soloist. He then left YG and auditioned for Crown Royal Entertainment - hoping to debut soon.
