Ilseong was born late into the night, a starry sky draped over the roof of the Jang Estate to welcome the firstborn of the then Duke and Duchess. However, he was not the firstborn of the family... for the Jang House was one that bred cruelty. And how does a child learn to love in such an environment? 

The Duchess was poising her firstborn to claim the title of Duke, once his father would pass. Being taught by some of the best teachers one could buy, given extensive ettiquite lessons, and rigorous military training. The young boy was sharp, elegant, and effortlessly charming. 

And just like that. The title that was rightfully his - taken from him by his older half brother. He began to resent his family even more because his mother now began to regard him as incompetent. Although, this period did not last long as without warning, Jang Hyukjae had vanished under mysterious circumstances. The dowager duchess was unfazed by the eldest's disapperance, quickly proceeding with installing Ilseong as the rightful duke. As it was meant to be. 

It was during his time in the military that helped to give him another sense of self. He was already respected from his family's history and rose through the ranks. While he was not the best at being on the frontlines directly, he was very skilled in strategy and giving orders, even taking up scouting with a hawk to survey the land. Ilseong's sharp eye and use of birds of prey earned him the moniker of The Golden Feather, taken from the golden tags used to mark his birds. 

And to think "love is a battlefield" used to be a cliche.

Not only did the young man thrive in the military, he also began to understand his own feelings much better. His first love...another young man he had grown close to. Many nights they shared, staring up at the night sky, talking about their families and plans for the future. No formal declarations of love were expressed, but it was evident their bond was something much deeper than friendship or camraderie. 

For a time, Ilseong's life was almost peaceful. He would hunt during the days. enjoy drinks with his friends at night. He would tend to his falcons and hawks. Only real burden was avoiding the Dowager Duchess' sharp words and harsh judgement on how he wasn't taking his responsibilities seriously. Whenever he had military assignments, he would happily leave - to be around the people he most felt like himself. But all good things must come to an end.

If there's any concerns, I prefer trying to talk one on one to work things out so that both parties can come to an understanding. I don't bite! I'm human, you're human. 

My timezone is GMT -4 (EST in the US) and I work a full time job with an inconsistent schedule, often consisting of nights and weekends. Because of that, my replies may be sporadic and sometimes, I do lose muse. As for reminders, do feel free to remind me if I haven't replied after 2 weeks!
